As I recall, at some point during the beta the devs had to make a choice. Either they could add female models for every villain type, or they could add several more villain groups with male models.
Besides that, the argument is ICly specious at best; most of the 'male-only' villain groups are modeled on real life groups that tend toward severe sexism (Family, Tsoo, Council/5th), or are physically mutated beyond easily recognizable levels (Lost, Rikti, Trolls - if you want to argue the latter, look up the effects of large doses of testosterone on the female body), or just weren't human in the first place (Clockwork, pumicites, redcaps, Tuatha, etc).
That pretty much leaves the Skulls, the Hellions, the Outcasts and the Circle of Thorns -- and low-life street gangs aren't commonly known for their affirmative action recruitment policies...
Places where I /would/ agree female models wouldn't go amiss: PPD cops and detectives of all levels, RIP, /maybe/ Warriors despite the earlier argument about gangs, Sky Raiders and the Shadow Shard expeditionary forces. -

Surprisingly, a Certain Other game that will remain nameless made an attempt at free-form powersets - and when the inevitable tankmage combos were found, wound up having to nerf the whole thing so badly that very few of the combinations that weren't the aforesaid TM combos are no longer viable for solo play...
-
Every other MMO that came before CoH also had extremely limited customization ability in terms of character appearance, especially in regard to scale. More than that, the character classes which would be most likely to wear robes had much less possible animations to cover when checking for possible clipping issues...

The video has been available on gaming sites and the main site for quite a while.

It's less 'swinging' than 'flying with a constant bob in your motion' and the only reason it looks even halfway decent is because they chose the camera angle in that video to make you focus on the shiny swinging in the hopes people wouldn't pay attention to the fact that they're "swinging" several meters /above/ the treetops in the forest area...
Take a few steps back and try to imagine what it'd look like to someone else watching you 'swing' from a distance. -
They never said it wouldn't be possible. They just said that it would take more manpower and man-hours than they could afford. When that changed, it happened.
-
Yes, CO has swinging. And yes, it looks exactly as stupid as the devs have pointed out more than once if you use it in an area where there isn't anything above you to swing from.

Originally, Nemesis forces barged straight into the conference room and all the NPCs were allies helping you fight them, but there was some kind of bug in the IFF checking if you had villains on the team which caused the Vanguard security forces to open fire on the signature NPCs and fail the mission ten seconds in because you were supposed to keep them alive.
Pity they couldn't get that to work, because the first time I ran through this (during then-closed beta) it was as a hero and it was awesome. -
Given what's been confirmed for I16 as well as mention of a major graphics upgrade in Going Rogue, I'm not sure CoX2 is going to be needed any time soon.

That's a lie, and you know it. Everyone knows red makes things go faster. Duh.

And blue weights the RNG in your favor. Well known fact. -

It'd be awesome, I won't argue with that. Problem I see is: I can only imagine the system requirements for that level of detail to appear while processing information at a decent frame rate.

Bear in mind, said wrestling games have to worry about at most either two or four super-customized people in the ring, and they know exactly what hardware they'll be working on.
CoX regularly has to render several dozen, on various degrees of hardware. -

Any particular reason? For the sake of curiosity.

If the word "rootkit" doesn't give you enough to go by, then I'm not sure how much I'll be able to make you understand, but I'll try.
It's roughly the same level of crap as StarForce. In order to "work properly" and prevent nasty evil cheating jerk hackers to find ways around it, it just has to both install itself as an admin-level device driver, and if you'll follow the link I meticulously added you'll see a quick grab-bag list of the kind of problems every single "anti-cheating" or "copy protection" measure of this kind invariably causes -- software compatibility issues at best, resource hogs, crashes and remotely exploitable security issues at worst. -

It does, but the GameGuard rootkit -- ahem, "Anti-cheating measure" -- is something of a deal-breaker for me. -
Maybe he means a customized spinning hourglass kind thing?

One of the main reasons the CoP trial was yanked was because of a hideously easily exploited issue with one of the missions. I vaguely recall developers stating that it'd be easier to start from scratch than fix the existing mess.
No, I've never done it, and I'd love to see SG-sized content, but I recommend people who want the CoP trial 'to be turned back on' not hold their breath. -

I don't see the point in flogging a guy who just got here in i13 when it's clear to me, one of the devs' most vitrol spewing critics, that the people in question are trying their best and are making some headway and improvements.
The TFs are unfinished content that's very much a work in progress that you got to see early. After seeing what I've seen so far, I'm willing to wait to see what goes live before lambasting anyone.

Those of us old enough to remember the original canon hack job changing all references to the 5th Column into the Council during I3 beta would also like to point out that the devs and writers do actually fix poor writing from time to time.
Butane's probably hit it on the head this time - whoever did the writing didn't have the kind of encyclopedic knowledge of game canon history that us obsessive players do, made a few assumptions based on the layout ("The 5th column is back, and they've liberated Reichsman") and went from there.
How many years has it been since someone last saw Axis Amerika, anyway? -

That's an interesting observation:

To Praetorian Earth, are we really the good guys? Or are we their version of the Rikti, interdimensional nutbags who swoop in and try to beat up their emperor? Think about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do we really have the right to interfere in another world? If so, when?
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean before or after high-ranking leading figures from that world attempt to invade our world, steal our technology, and kidnap one of our most powerful and iconic heroes all the while stating to anyone who opposes them that their ultimate intent is to conquer our entire planet?
Go read up on Tina Macintyre and Maria Jenkins' arcs if you would; if you really want to insist on Prime Directive adherence we'll for now ignore Battle Maiden's habit of enslaving the tribes in her territory, or Evil Infernal's sacrificing people en masse to summon more demons to bind to his armor, or Mother Mayhem's... 'experimental treatments' on her 'patients', or... The list goes on and on.
Do we have the right? We're heroes. Refusing to stand idly by while the innocent are oppressed, murdered and worse no matter where they live is what we do.
(Villains, of course, rarely need any excuse whatsoever to look for places to plunder, especially when the victims are a dimension away and unlikely to be able to effectively pursue) -

There's a friend of mine that you really need to meet. -
Every single raid I've been on, we watch for Magi like hawks and make sure they're locked down and dogpiled as soon as one is spotted.
OP: My recommendation is you try to bring more competent people on a raid, or wait for the less competent to grow more competent from the repeated experience of massive wipes because nobody paid attention to the Magi. -
I stopped reading at "Origin specific" because I have yet to see anything good following that phrase.

Or it's a group of 8 friends RPing and experiencing the content together, like the folks I generally run with.

I15 has been on Test for what... hours? I took a glance at a couple of threads about it and already there's discussion of how fast it might be possible to do them, and whether or not they'll be a viable alternative to repeating the ITF.

What, you mean to say that there are obsessive merit grinders in the game? I am shocked - shocked!

A team of 6 or 8 strangers is the worst way to experience any new story in the game for the first time.

Fixed that for you.
[ QUOTE ]
From my point of view, if this is all there is to the next issue, then I15 is a non-event, because by the time it goes live the speed run tactics will already be up and running, and that will be the norm.
[/ QUOTE ]
My advice? Find some friends to play with who agree with your pacing. People like that exist, trust me. Don't rely on PUGs to help you experience the story. -

As far as evil missions go, Diviner Maros sends you on a mission where you steal weapons to be handed over to the Sky Raiders, expressly so they will devastate the nation of West Libertalia. That's quite evil.
