Do SOMETHING about Rikti Magi on raids
Raid with smarter people.
On Virtue, Magi get locked down fast.

Rikti Magi are the reason that RWZ raids need Scrappers and Stalkers and even more reason to bring Sonic Resonance and Force Fields (beyond all of the tactical and sheer buff). The big problem I've found with them is their Stalagmites (re: squishy nullifier). If they're allowed to run rampant or even allowed to build up to decent numbers, they'll quickly stun absolutely everyone.
From my perspective, I think the devs added them to the RWZ raids to actually create some kind of real threat to the raid. The Heavy Assault Suits aren't particularly dangerous because they're largely single target. Have a tank Taunt it, and you can pretty much ignore it. The Magi are dangerous to anyone near their target. If they weren't there, you could easily run the entire raid without any real threat as long as you had the numbers and the ATs.
I get merits so much on the Rikti Raid, and don't see the Rikti Magus that big of a threat.
Just got my MA/Shield to 50 on Monday (or Sunday) doing a Rikti Raid on Virtue.
Maybe you havent gotten enough people on the raids?

On a conceptual level, I certainly think Vandem is being quite reasonable. Magi should offer more merits than lieutenants the same way bosses offer more merits than lieutenants. On the other hand, it does seem a fairly minor, book-keepy problem.

I'm pretty sure that during RWZ raids, everything grants the same number of merits (1). I think it has to do with specific alteration of the drop code that allows for everything to automatically drop merits. When you're not raiding, higher rank Rikti reward more merits, but each Rikti only has a chance of dropping merits in the first place.

They never caused much of a problem on any raid I was on.
Every single raid I've been on, we watch for Magi like hawks and make sure they're locked down and dogpiled as soon as one is spotted.
OP: My recommendation is you try to bring more competent people on a raid, or wait for the less competent to grow more competent from the repeated experience of massive wipes because nobody paid attention to the Magi.
My characters - all on Virtue.

The Magi are really the only challenging part of the raid, and then can be controlled very easily.

Indeed, make sure every raid has controllers. They can be extremely anti-magi if used effectively.
The merits balance themselves out anyway. For each magus you've taken down, another 50-100 headmans have gone down with it, and they tend to fall quicker than a sack of potatoes. On Virtue, merits are flying around like crazy with every raid. I average about 300-400 per.

As a constructive suggestion, assign specific individuals as Magi spotters. I prefer to use bubblers, debuff defenders, or blasters for this, as they are usually in the center and don't need to watch their teammates.
Set up a macro "targetname magi" and have them spin and spam it until a Magi appears. Then they call out in the raid channel "Magi at 3 o'clock!" and everyone piles on.

Quick tangent, is that a "Nuke 'em till They Glow" reference I see in your sig?
"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict
Do not get rid of my sword training dummies!!! There is nothing I love more than having a Rikti Mage take a trip on AIR FALLENZ with my two big attacks.

Not a direct reference, as I don't know what "Nuke 'em till They Glow" is. But who knows where some of these ideas come from? What was it you were thinking of?

I have to say that complaining to the devs that they should remove Magi makes a lot less sense than maybe hiring some controllers and telling them "Don't let those Magi run around."
Why not just remove the priests and the Headmen and, well, anything else that provides a challenge and just make it a big monkey zoo? Better yet, fill it with Rikti Butlers whose job is to greet each raider and hand him a silver tray filled with merits as a welcome gift.

Is it just because it's been a while since I last did an RWZ raid because I don't ever remembering seeing the Rikti Priests pop in for the RWZ raids.
The biggest threat to raids are the people who set bombs without calling it out.

[/ QUOTE ] No, its the people that don't explain stuff like that to their team that are a bigger problem. I've done 4 raids(I think), and I've never knew that. Because nobody mentioned it.

Well, the story "Nuke 'em till They Glow" was a fic written by Ben Oliver that made fun of a lot of different anime series, particularly Sailor Moon. One part being how all of the characters' names seemed to match their senshi forms. So with the author created "Sailor Earth", he gave her the name "Terra Incognito". She was also a fragment of a personality of a complete maniac, named "Guy Incognito".

It was sarcasm, so it doesn't really matter. Substitute whatever Rikti annoys you in its place. The point was to find some players who WILL stop the Magi from "running around" instead of demanding that they be removed entirely, either because the OP's groups refuse to use tactics or they place so much value on bounties that they're too unintelligent to realize that letting a "low merit" Magi mess with your team reduces your overall merit total by slowing down your merit collection from the "high merit" Rikti. (Assuming that Magi really are "low merit" in the first place.)
The OP doesn't want to have to think and plan and hire the right people, he just wants the challenge removed.

Nope. Guy Incognito's name has a different origin. Actually, it was because "Incognito Guy" was taken.

Rikti Magi on mothership raids are TOUGH. They have all the resistances of Rikti, they're EBs, and they do tons of damage with their level 54-ness. Letting these guys run around unchecked can seriously put a damper on a mothership raid, but that's exactly what people tend to do because the darn things give exactly the same Vanguard merit rewards as the squishy Headmen lieutenants. Can we up the Vanguard merit rewards for these guys or something?
