Post Epic ....Epics

3 ideas for post-epic epics. These would be Ats you could only unlock after getting a Kheldian to level 50.

First idea, Gargantuans....give us the ability to grow to 50 feet tall, like Apache Chief or Giant-man.No travel powers needed because you could walk across a city in like 10 strides.Would be so freakin awesome to take on Lusca or Eochai and be as large as they are.Make the animations and powers minimal. Our weakness would be we couldnt go on certain missions...ie caves etc..if this cant be implemented then consider it as a temp power at the very least for the sheer coolness of it.

B. We have almost every power you could think of from the major comics companies with the exception of.....now dont laugh.....Plasticity....let us make a scrapper that can stand 20 feet away from a group and pimp slap one of em with his super stretchiness like plastic-man or leap into the air and wrap himself around two opponents squeezing the life out of em.I like the new additions like electric melee and armor to scrappers but recycling powersets between Ats is boring and not gonna do much to draw people away from the competition, nameley Champions Online and DCUniverse Online.Being cutting edge and thinking outside of the box in terms of creativity will.

3rd...Forget what I said about recycling powersets between Ats and let us make an epic thats truly epic and let those who have earned it match any combination of powers and powersets like in AE. Let me play an ice blaster with regen or sonic/stone tank.People who have left for the novelty of a new game will be back in droves and will have the ability to feel truly heroic which is what this game all about anyways

First off Epic doesn't mean Epic in terms of power, but Epic in terms of story and scope. Think Homer's The Illiad, not Galactus with Venom Symbiote.

Second the devs have admited that level 50 being the requirement to unlock epics was a bad idea, and have said that any Epic AT's after SoA would not require a level 50 to unlock.

Third Gargantuans and stretching aren't possible because of some engine difficulties and limitations.

Fourth mix and match is something I would like to see, but i'm not sure how it could properly be implemented in this game.

In the Alpha version of the game, you could free-form powersets to an extent (they didn't have as many powers in them back then), but it created a situation where basically everyone was making Tank-mages, while also opening it up for people to make truly un-playable characters (Invuln/Force Field, anyone?). So it's unlikely to happen anytime soon.

I see what you did there

None of those ideas are doable.

Growth and stretching have already been stated to be impossible with the current game engine.

Free-form power picking is, and always will be, broken. it would be possible to create a character that is literally unable to be killed. It would trivialize the most challenging content in the game, forcing the developers to make things harder to compensate.

Even the most gimped character possible in the current system is playable. If power selection were unlimited you'd have cases of some players being gods that make a mockery of the toughest things in the game, while other players are unable to defeat even the weakest foes.

The thing about CoH is: You don't have to be a powergamer to play the game. If they implemented free-form power selection it would all but require you to be.
