    I left CoX last year.

*shrug* Why would I stick around after this? I spent eighteen quid that I have trouble finding spare, and ended up having to play Champions Online anyway. I'm not just unimpressed, I'd rather like my money back so I can spend it on something I can actually use.

In terms of number of COUNTRIES, does English win then?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Easily. Well, obviously nothing is never as simple as merely 'number of countries', but I can kind of see where you're coming from. Other languages can manage a decent raw population count, but nothing even gets close to touching English in terms of being the language used in the halls of power across the world, whether that's political or economic.

You can learn Mandarin if you want, but you're gonna find yourself going to some seriously rural places to meet the majority of the people speaking it.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
English may be the most spoken second language though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is easily the most spoken second language, only Mandarin equals English in estimated numbers of worldwide speakers, and 60% of that number is native Chinese.

EU remains a nightmare for pretty much every publisher, distribution, language and local laws aint making it easier. (EU isnt limited to only the western side of EU )

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only because they don't have the undercarriage to take that politically correct stuff, and hurl it with considerable gusto out the window.

EU region servers should be one fat server (or two), for the whole EU. The idea that our little worlds will collapse because we don't have a server just for our own language is insulting and stupid, a Spanish person on such a unified EU server will just speak Spanish until someone speaks Spanish back at him, what the hell does it matter? They'll make their own native language speaking groups and such anyway but ones that can speak English can mob in with us too. Or French. Or German. Or whatever bilingual ability they have. The ability to make specific community broadcast channels in MMO's is hardly rare either, you can just have language specific channels.

But no, instead the EU seems to always be loaded down with triple linguistic server madness that splits a small number of players into even smaller groups while shoving up the cost to maintain the service for them. I doubt BlueRabbit would still be playing if he couldn't speak English and could only go on a Portugese server with four other people and a cat that's trying to eat the computer mouse.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't tend to be thrown into a game hating fury when a German has the audacity to speak german in my general vicinity.

Ah, the old "Who? Sorry, we don't have anyone by that name here" ruse.

They woulda gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you pesky barbarians.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's probably more a case of, "Your new office is next to mine, and comes equipped with twelve people who will follow you around and stare at you intently all day, everyday, because we don't feel particularly safe without at least four pairs of eyes that answer to us watching you at any given moment."
  6. It signifies that Richard Garriott has launched an enormous lawsuit which uses Chungs name almost exclusively.

On a side note, every other game developer makes statements, or releases, or plain old messages. Positron makes a 'global address'. Got a superhero complex much, have we?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Haaaaaaaaaahahahahaha! Yeah, it's Positron who's petty. Not the bandwagon taking umbridge at random acts of grammar.

Look out! He's got a dictionary! We're all going to be...*flip, flip, flip*...despoiled! Yeah, like that one. FLEE THE DESPOILER!
  8. Meh, playing silly wotsits with my account would just be an immediate cancellation. I've got better stuff to do than get worked up about being punished for minding my own business and going to quiet zones to do some personal farming entirely solo on stalled toons.

Otherwise I'll just go on playing like usual. *shrug*
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I was a dumb kid, too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And an even more stupid adult.
  10. Also, I'd rather do a farm map full of minions than a 'story arc' where the first mission ends in an Elite Boss.

I couldn't give a damn how good of an author everyone is claiming you are, if I can't dare to put my difficulty up the one single step from the bottom simply so I can have a normal Boss instead of a Lieutenant when I solo (and I'm pretty sure actual Elite Bosses don't downgrade on the lowest diff anyway), you can stick your arc someplace warm and wet. If authors actually thought to make it a STORY arc instead of a KILL THE SQUISHIES arc I might choose to partake in something other than a mindless carnage map. Which I like. I really do. Every day I like to spend a few hours splattering bad guys all over the walls, it's way more fun than having to once again face down the Elite Boss some **** has crafted to be a debuffing combat monster because their ego has problems with anything less than a large team beating up their 'awesome' character.

Oh and don't go thinking I'm not equal opportunity on this, whoever thought you should be having to grind your way through so many Elite Bosses complete with entourage for the Billy Heck story arc in Port Oakes should be punched in the neck.

I'm irritated now. I'm gonna go kill a few thousand Rikti Comms Officers.

in holland, there is nothing jolly about this day, this day is a day to remember the soldiers and all other fallen in WW2.
SW day is a bit useless compare to something so important.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The rest of the Netherlands have to mourn theirs on a different day then?

Its quiet because the farmyard moved to Atlas on Union. Not sure about Defiant =P

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm Defiant. I start in Galaxy now because Atlas gets lag from the number of players up there. If I'm going to do some combine harvesting myself, I go to Steel Canyon instead.
  13. Personally, I've been farming the hell out of some of my toons. God bless Rikti Communications Officers.

I want the stuff in the Rikti War Zone, and oh man I'm not doing it the slow way anymore. 35 freaking levels of slow solo anticipation just isn't fair anymore. And that's just getting there, if I could find a better way of farming Vanguard Merits than nonstop Borea missions because I'm busy on Sundays, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cream cake.

    Oh, it's noodles... that's nice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah. Noodles. It's definitely noodles.
    *stroke the bunny*
    Awwwww, isn't he so cute.

    Noodles.
  15. EVE Online is a job. At its core the game utterly sucks, it's the most damnably boring thing I have ever had the misery to come across in my life, what makes people like it is the whole PVP community aspect to it, which means corporations and such, and yeah, it's not a hobby, it's a freaking job. You've got to take it seriously.

*sputters warm cream all over the monitor*

Well, that's the last time I'll try and swallow that. It's vile, it is.

Oh my Gods, you bukkake'd your monitor!

If these threads and posts upset you, then don't read them?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I love hearing this. It makes me all warm and fuzzy when I tell someone what I think of them, their thoughts, their face, their religion, their very existence, etc, and get this in return.

Technically I could then respond with the exact same phrase and cause a universal divide by zero paradox as the two opposing sides become locked into a say/read/respond loop that tears open reality as we know it, and replaces the whole lot with fire and cream.

I don't do it because I don't like warm cream.
  18. Ranged Mastermind minions running up to stand next to enemies. I simply cannot comprehend how this absurdly simple fix is entirely beyond the ability of anyone who has ever worked on City of Villains. And I was very specific about 'standing next to them' instead of 'trying to use their one melee attack', because I have Protector Bots doing it. Medics who had their melee attack taken away for just this reason want to go hug the ****ing enemy and aggro everything they can find in a mile radius as they do it.

It's only a tiny problem, but it has gone on SO long despite evidential dev knowledge of it that it has slowly, gradually, like tiny waves on my cliff of sanity, driven me so far beyond anger that I wouldn't even display any emotion as I go postal with a variety of power tools through the department of whoever I feel is responsible. The police would drag me away, covered in blood, with but the merest hint of a smile on my face which would remain up until the lethal injection finishes me off.

Did Blizzard ever test their RaF system? Then why people only use it to lvl 4 characters to 60 in 1 day? Did they ever test the skills in GW, making nearly unbeatable farming bots? This all those numberous MMO's test their security, and yet they are fill with 'anti GG' cheaters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

One of the most astonishing little statistics that ever came out of Games Workshop years ago (heopfully it's changed these days...I doubt it), was how many battles could typically be played in the creation/recreation of Warhammer 40k armies. It was 'about 70'. That was it. About 70. Tens of thousands of players would step up to the challenge of abusing a paper based tabletop ruleset that had been tested in less than a hundred battles, and by its paper based nature would have no effective method of 'patching'. It became absolutely clear just why the rules had more holes than a guy in a pinstripe suit on Valentines Day.

In terms of the scale of surprise for the community, it would be like discovering that D-Day actually had no planning, they just put as many guys as they could find on boats and 'winged it'.

As much as I hate the effect AE tickets are having, thank grud for tickets when you need a piece of common/uncommon salvage and don't fancy paying 250k inf or more for it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank God for the rares. I get all kinds of salvage just from playing, rares though, all of a sudden a low key, simple recipe becomes a multi million nightmare. I was SO sick of the ridiculously priced rares, and now I can get them whenever I want just by roughing something up in the MA.

  23. Perception is a wonderful thing. I haven't gotten my knickers in a twist about farming and thus haven't noticed any change in player behaviour at all. I'm told it's definitely completely destroying the game though.
