  1. You're correct that Domination doesn't affect VG. The lockdown proc works very nicely in it however. Each time one of the pseudopets fires its hold it will roll a chance to proc. You'll see it proc very often in VG. And the pet does benefit from enhancement (hold duration and accuracy). The longer its holds become the more often you will see them overlap and hold bosses.
  2. Seems to be working for me. Are you monitoring your damage with the attribute monitor? Remember that EoF only buffs all damage for 10 seconds and fire damage for 30 seconds. Maybe your seeing the icon and not the buff because it's not shown by the attribute monitor.
  3. I agree with you. Considering that we have Alignment Merit to Reward Merit ratios and even Astral Merit to Reward Merit, it seems odd that Alignment Merits are left out of this equation. It's also worthy noting that a person can only gain Alignment Merits by purchasing the Alignment system or paying the monthly sub so there is conceivably a financial reason for making them a viable option as well.

And lest we forget that by not having haste we free up a power and maybe a slot or two. I think your claim that not having haste for ANY build is a bit, well, hasty.

I am also not a fan of extremes
Well, that's why Tex has been careful to use the word "usually" throughout his post, including "skipping Hasten is usually a losing deal on any build", i.e. not in every case but in most with room for unusual scenarios.

I wouldn't even be that diplomatic about the matter. A single power that provides 70% recharge opens up numerous slotting options that allow you to pursue goals in conjunction with permadom, most notably soft capped lethal/smashing or ranged defense. Skipping hasten requires you to either invest in the most expensive IOs (purples) to reach those same goals or to eschew them all together. It isn't simply a matter of getting permadom. It's a matter of what you can achieve in other aspects and still obtain permadom.

That's a difficult thing to communicate because it's so contingent on different conditions. There are general rules of thumb like 3 SOs will max out the enhancement value for most powers before really biting into diminishing returns. There are cases with things like Hasten where, as soon as you reach enough enhancement to perma it, anything more is overkill. I don't think there could be any ingame presentation that would adequately cover or convey the "best" slotting or usage of boosts.

Heck, it's hard to get people to break with the old Habit of 3-slotted Hasten when 2-slotted +5 level 50 IO's works as well, and that's with person to person communication.
  6. Emperor Cole is a handsome man with a deeply unattractive personality.
  7. I rather dislike the Will of the Controller proc. I don't think a damage proc was a wise decision as it limits the set from effectively being 6-slotted in sleeps or aggro free confuses. It seems as though it's also taking a hit in the AoE immobilizes because of the unique way it works (decreased chance to fire with higher target caps and lower recharge). In most of the single target holds, I'd rather invest in 4 slots of Basilisk's Gaze and some damage enhancement for a small difference in the recharge and ranged defense bonuses. The only place I can readily think of slotting it is Stalagmites or Flash Fire; with Wormhole becoming aggro-free I'd be wary of slotting it there.

A higher chance to overpower would have been a great idea I think, considering that bosses and elite bosses are more common in Incarnate trials.
  8. Hmm, I hadn't given storm a lot of thought. Heart of Darkness and Thunder Clap would mesh well at least.
  9. I've been testing on a Dark/Time and that's what I plan to re-roll one of my favorite characters as (currently a Mind/Rad).

I've found Time's Juncture and Farsight a very nice boon on characters that play in or near melee. Since dark will play a bit closer due to Heart of Darkness (PBAoE stun) it should benefit nicely. The additional debuff from TJ, on top of all the to hit debuff from Dark, will also help keep the Haunts alive while they're out provided your in melee with them. The greatest problem is that Dark/Time is going to be a very tight build.

Dark/dark won't likely share that problem. Fade and Soul Absorption are a bit lackluster if they don't receive any buffs before going live. Black Hole is essentially the current Dimension Shift, with no announced plans to change that.

Ah Atta. I remember wondering when it would end. That cave is huge! His throne room at the end is a nice touch though. I recall gaining 2-3 levels on that map alone.

The first couple of Frostfire runs were also epic in their scope and feel.

I do NOT miss having to run to and up that big hill across the Gulch or having to run back from the Atlas hospital and that sort of thing, though. Time has marched on for the better in that regard!
I think we'll all remember our first time on the Frostfire map... and how much time we wasted on those ice ramps.
  11. I share your lack of enthusiasm for Windfall. I had heard of others getting one or two purple drops on smash all ITFs so I reserved them for such an outing. After 5 runs with windfalls I hadn't had any valuable drops. Random is random, but I hate random.
  12. My friend and I were recently working on the Croatoa arcs. That was a bit of nostalgia there too. I haven't run them in quite a while. I was shocked when we held off the Fir Bolg in the mission "Keep 30 Fir Bolg from escaping".

Yeah, I kind of despise DFB. I think it's made it harder to find a team in the teens even. It seems as though a lot of people at DFBing 1-20/22 then heading to Talos. Heck, I even miss running radio and bank missions.
  13. Haven't they stated that the qualification metric is a minimum threshold? After you've qualified to receive a reward isn't that reward randomly selected?

That does not explain why Mace Mastery does not have access to these models. You can, for example, select the Celestial Mace for War Mace and select the same for your Mace Mastery. I'm unsure if it causes redraw or not on those powers, but the option to have matching weapons certainly does exist already. Secondly, that doesn't address the other ATs that have no War Mace option at all; using the Carnie models is still going to cause redraw for Blaster, Controllers, Defenders, etc.
  15. Like Snow said. You want it to proc as often as possible. Slotting it Wormhole was a bit of a goof.
  16. UK has been in the house a looooooong time.
  17. I think another interesting idea would be a sleep that ticks more magnitude after a set amount of time, perhaps an additional 2 magnitude after 4-8 seconds with a chance for another 2 magnitude 4-8 seconds later. It would be able to resleep minions with some consistency and occasionally resleep lieutenants and bosses.
  18. If you drop the damage (and reduce recharge) from Flash Freeze it becomes the same as Spore Burst, which isn't popular by any means but is a useable power. I've used Spore Burst it on the STF and LRSF to help hold off the AVs on teams that couldn't tackle them all together. Flash Freeze can't dream of doing that because of the damage and bad recharge. It's even slow to help ward of an ambush, once again due to the delay for the damage.

For it to be considered for a damage power, you'd have to buff its damage waaaaay higher. It's doing approximately 1/6 of the immobilize's damage with 10 times the recharge. Even Terrify, which matches the base damage of an immobilize, does so at about 6 times the recharge, making it a lackluster damage power.

  20. One of these can shoot a barrage of energy from its tip. You can you guess which?

Surprise! Not the one swirling with energy!

While you're poking people about weapon models Zwil, please ask if they can look into getting the Carnie maces ported to Mace Mastery for all ATs. It's a shame that they're limited only to Warmace when they really would work well for Mace Mastery powers like Poison Ray and Disruptor Blast. They make fine magic wands for people, you know, in case I want to cast Web (a.k.a. on Web Envelope and Web Cacoon) on an enemy.
  21. They really should go through and gut debt protection out of all the sets. It comes in such small, meaningless amounts even before you consider things like patrol XP offsetting any debt.
  22. If you have Coercive Persuasion I'd slot that into Seeds because the proc is basically an additional chance to overpower. The AT set I would probably slot into strangler (if using the proc) or into Vines. However, if you don't have Coercive Persuasion then the AT set is probably the next best for a confuse.
  23. While we're at it... why are the Carnival of War/Light/Vengeance maces limited only to War Mace and not applicable to Mace Mastery? The Celestial mace works with Mace Mastery even though it looks odd shooting webbing and beams from a hammer. The Carnie maces would actually make more sense being usable there.
  24. I wonder if the proc might be firing for the Creepers themselves. That wouldn't be terrible useful, but still worthy of knowing.

That speaks more to what a team can do than the accomplishments of a single dominator. And, of course, the newer Master's badges don't even require you to play all that well... you can repeat the task with a different objective each time until you've met the requirements for the badge.

Nor does it alter the fact that there are diminishing returns on recharge, i.e. moving from 130% to 140% recharge will bear greater reductions in recharge than moving from 180% to 190%.

It's not that I think perma-dom without Hasten isn't a lofty or impressive goal, but I think your description makes it a bigger deal than it really is and ignores the potency of perma-dom with softcapped defense.
