  1. Wipe the computer, start over. Maybe get a spare hard drive and do this instead of wiping the current C: drive.

It's the only way to be sure... as it sounds like there's a rootkitted virus in there still messin' around with your stuff, since you can't get Internet without being in Safe Mode.

Go get Kapersky TDSSKiller here: http://majorgeeks.com/Kaspersky_TDSSKiller_d6895.html
    Malwarebytes Antimalware here: http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5756

Run them, update if needed, and do a full scan in the case of Malwarebytes.

    Then do it again.

If interested, Combofix instructions here could be done:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

Bet you find something lurking. Otherwise, the Internet isn't explainable, except a very corrupted system, and my wiping suggestion holds firm.

  3. Now, with that done... I actually came in here to say this:

    Let.
    It.
    Die.

There is no need for a third Ghostbuster movie. By making the second, it was tired, and it showed. A third is just... money grabbing ****ing by those involved, and it'll be a flop.

Murray knows this. Moranis knows this. And neither will participate, because THEY AREN'T STUPID... nor interested.

Ackroyd has nothing else to do, so sure, he's up for it. But then, this is the guy who brought us Valkenvania: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nothing...ble_(1991_film)

    Yeah, that went well...

The part 1-3 of Star Wars wherent bad.. they where just not that good as 4-6. And will never be as our point of view changed. For Star Wars there is just a single way to see who hates the movie and who not. Will you honestly say you will not goto the Phantom Menace 3D in the cinema?
I can honestly say that I will not goto the Phantom Meanace 3d in the cinema. Or 'go to' either.

I do not hate the movie. By far not. Although I'm not a fan of Jake, as he's a horrible horrible actor, the rest of the movie was, in fact, quite fine, and Star Wars-y.

    I
    Hate
    3D.

Avatar was THE ONLY 3D movie I saw that was worth a damn. I saw Tron in the 3D in the theatre...

I had to wait until it was on DVD to actually enjoy the visuals. The 3D SUCKED A TON.

Most of them do. And that is why I won't be seeing SW:TPM3D.

So your logic/reasoning/test is flawed, unfortunately, friend.

Still, have a good one, enjoy the show when you go!
  5. I am TOTALLY not reading any repsonses, nor whatever OP wrote. I am answering the topic question directly "What does my villain want?"

    ---

Cerise Dawn, Pinnacle, Mind/Psi Dominator, frankly, wants to destroy every single living person on Earth. Her sisters, her patron Ghost Widow (whom she thinks she's superior to in every way and would wipe the floor with, and that cretin of hers too... she's wrong, of course, but YOU tell her that...), Statesman, Recluse, and all the Praetorians too, if she can get there and do it.

She's kind of messed up in the head ever since Rodney the Iguana was 'disappeared' by Ruby, her sister, accidentally. All she is is rage, and wants everyone to feel her pain... by dying. Slowly. And with her doing it to their minds... literally melting them from the inside. And getting pleasure from doing it. It's the only smile she ever gets.

All for an iguana, you say? Yes. For Rodney was beloved by her, and she felt him die when Ruby messed up the spell... die horribly. Agonizingly. Slowly. In between dimensions/worlds/existences. She was that connected to him... and it really REALLY drove her insane.

And no, she doesn't care if she winds up doing it and is alone. Like Mr. Rogers in the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny... she'd do herself in once The Job was done.

/No really, that's what she wants.
    //I wrote her that way.
///And now I'll read everything else in here. See where I stand...
////Edit: Yeah, I'm in line at least with the rest...

Then again, I still like Speed Racer, the second and third Matrix sequels, Wing Commander the movie, and Star Trek V. Even Star Wars: Episode 1. Because I can see the beauty in them regardless of the pablum derived story.

  8. Only on TV. In the movies, the Borg are way more complicated.
  9. This brings me back to a day... long ago... where I was semi-forced to 'upgrade' a Novell server to a Windows NT Server... and the SCSI card failed... and the new drive got a little trashed... and when the old Novell was put back on, the Novell backup WASN'T WORKING (not my fault) and they lost about 20 percent of their data...

I scrambled my *** off to keep what they had, that 80%, but a lot of the 20% was pretty new stuff.

Had a big meeting, things were said, bottom line, I said I didn't want to do it that way in the first place, you cheapskates... it was a really bad deal.

And I swore to NEVER, EVER, upgrade ANY server ever again. And I haven't. Direct replacement, and KEEP THE OLD ONE FOR A MONTH, to ensure the new one is working, THEN decommission/retask the old one.

This really sucks for all effected, including the company. Man.

    ---

    Secondary thoughts...

    The backup got hosed? Wow.

Then again, if you're backing up bad data, and don't have weekly, monthly backups behind it...

    Snowball. Ugly.

Geez, I can imagine, but I can't imagine, know what I mean?
  10. This is my style:

    Be excellent to each other.
    Party on.

    Pretty much covers everything.
  11. No, that voice left years ago, in Freddie Mercury. Hers was the best female voice, sure, but his was THE best, and most amazing. However, I quibble where I really shouldn't be quibbling.

They haven't topped the Tampa Super Bowl Star Spangled Banner she sang yet. That was by far the best, and still unbeaten. She had an amazing voice, amazing talent, if only her demons would have left her alone.

Quite a shock when I read it. Sorry she's gone.
  12. I'm sure there are plenty of worthy ones... and all with excellent (and maybe not excellent, but fun for sure) reasons to be considered... But I vote for this person:

  16. Dude, ONE?!!? Srsly. Get teh realz, yo.

    ---

Close Encounters, ET, Superman, Star Wars, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, AI, War of the Worlds... I mean, seriously, you can't just have one.

    Sigh.

If I just *had* to pick... Ugh... picking one... how droll...

Superman. That has a ton of awesome themes. Supes has *two*. Lex, Lois, Oits, Krypton, Zod, Ursa, Non (yes, just that short scene), and the action... the powerful emotional scene when Supes realizes Lois is dying, gets there, is sad, gets mad, decides to 'fix it' regardless of what ol' Dad Jor-El says... and the quiet elation of Lois being alive...and mad...

That score rocked the house. But it is not the only one.

One of my two very favorite composers. The other is Jerry Goldsmith. Star Trek: The Motion Picture is just *fantastic* in every way. And the Explorers soundtrack is simply marvelous in it's dichotomy of styles. So fun. And so I'll say this:

Happy early birthday to you, Jerry! You'd have been 82 this year, tomorrow! Which is totally awesome that these two were back-to-back on bein' born days.

And of course, happy birthday to Mr. Williams. Once more 'round the sun, sir!

    /Ok, I geeked out a little. Sorry.
//Will there be a thread for Jerry specifically?
///Danny Elfman is my third favorite. He's on May 29th.

  17. I"m goin' with "Yes."

    Definitely the right answer here.
  18. "Never seen before"? "Blockbuster?" During the summer?

This can only mean one thing. They finally got the Big Red Ball worked out. You'll see it on the Talos Beaches. I'm officially pumped now.

/Either that, or they finally fix AE missions for front/mid/back in outdoors, as well as the spawns, and a zoom function...
//Nah, I'm goin' with BRB. Definitely.
  19. I just wish to point out that this flash universe thing is awesome. As is this, IMO:

I'm guessing you never did programming with that statement... There is no change that is considered 'minor'. I can tell you this because, indeed, I am a programmer, albiet on the sidelines these days. And I had to work on <1M of memory and 640x480x16 colors, AND make all the mouse/keyboard interfacing.

And we ran plants with it. We made systems that monitored and made changes as needed to operational plants. Systems that, if used incorrectly, quite literally could kill someone. Or a lot of someones. Heady stuff, really. And with that background told, I say this with some experience and knowledge of the matter:

NOTHING in programming something this huge is *minor*. It has NOTHING to do with being cobbled together, as you put it, but being *freaking complex*.

*Whatever* is done to the game now, or is done to MAKE a game as awesome as Co* is now, has to be created, tested, tweaked, tested, revised, tested, ad nausem, ad infinitum.

It doesn't matter if it's making a sound different, someone has to create the sound, and then get it to work. All while NOT breaking or changing other aspects of the game.

Adding a simple swinging sign is an exercise in "Where would this be affected? How will other players see this? Will it interfere with x or y?" and dealing with those answers. Repeating until it's acceptable. Maybe not even 'right', just acceptable.

Now... add to that, you want the players to *make* the sign swing, not just random number generation that leads to a 'breeze' making it swing... which was hard enough, and is already in there.

What does that affect? How will that work with the breeze effect? Do we can the breeze to make this actionable by a player?

    ---

You quite literally do not understand, and most people don't. These things aren't going to change simply because they start over. By far not.

The magic of this game is this: It works at all. Much like any current operating system, or heck, any networking part of any of this. You think Co* is cobbled together? Take a look at any OS... it's horrid most times.

That Co* works, on the OS that works, on the computer that works with it's firmware that works on a network card that works on a router that works on a modem that works on a telecommunications system that works... then reverse it on the other end...

    It's astounding.

Moreover, it's rather magical. 'Piece of crap'? **HARDLY**. I would rather demand you retract that statement, it's horrid and doesn't reflect what an amazing engine this is... it has *so much going on* and it works. Yes, hiccups, interesting artifacts, but man... it actually works. Amazing, really.

But that's what makes it look 'easy' to do... it just works, for the most part, so changing stuff should be 'easy', right?

It's way not. It took a lot of testing and tweaking to get it to work.

And neither is starting over easy, and I daresay, it would be worse. Better to keep and improve what is here, by far, and I vote that.

/I should probably go to sleep.
//More importantly, I should probably exit this thread, never to return, 'cause it just makes me irritated now.

You can solo on just about anything of course. But certain classes really excell at it.
    1) I will be doing an MFing Warshade next, after I get done with the brawl only Brute. That sounds completely fun and having fun with a character that's epic in some way is why I do this game in the first place.

    2) Camera shake *can be turned off*. It's an option in the menu. I myself don't care either way, and understand that otherwise it might be nice to have on, so there ya go.

    3) Indeed, as long as you have offense and defense in abundant enough quantities to deal with whatever you're battling, anything can solo. Quickly becomes a test of Damage per Second.

In that case, it is my firm belief that Claws/(most anything) brute or scrapper. Claws are quick, don't cost a lot of endurance, and recover quickly. A 5 power chain can be had very fast, and you are, quite literally, without pause, provided you have enough end to support all that clawing about and the secondary/pool toggles...

As far as the secondary, it all depends... I'm a fan of Willpower, but others are fans of Dark, EA, Shields... Look at what they cover. The reason I like WP is because of the heals, defense, damage resist, to hit debuffs, protection... it's a really good set.

Doesn't mean you can't use anything else, I'm just a big fan of it.

Use pools that'll help. Combat Jumping, Weave, Tough... whatever, defense helps to keep you goin'. And keep an eye on your end. And have a TON of acc/to hit. Doesn't work if you whiff.

    ---

Having said that, part of the story is to *pick easy targets*. If your point is to get to 50, perhaps you need to play around with what you can take down easily, and not accept a challenge.

For a great example, my brawl only brawler, with Build Up, Hasten, and WP... he can't fight anything Psionic yet. He can't fight anything with a TON of accuracy which defeats his -to hit. He also doesn't fly. Things like that. So while he *can* take on Tsoo, it's hard, 'cause they fly away, and they have hella accuracy. He beats the snot outta Family, so he goes off to get them.

But the Family bosses are tough, lots of HP/defense, so he just does the LTs. Also, he has to take out the gunners because if they follow him, they stay out of -to hit range. This causes the defense to go down, and he gets hurt faster.

For Bosses, he's found that Croatoa and the Streng are *sweetness defined*. Just about everything a Streng does is interruptable, so they don't hit back much. Brawl is recharging at <1 second *before* Hasten, and takes about 1.25 seconds to complete. The Streng fire off about 5 shots total before they're humiliated by the awesome punch of the Brawl. It's like a thousand paper cuts.

Doing that to a Consigliore is considerably different and takes **WAY** too much time, so I just avoid those dudes. And Sorcerers... don't. Just don't.

That sort of thing you'll find out on your own, and as you define the character. Hope it helps you on your journey.

/Mobs, LTs, Bosses, EBs fear Homeslicer. He just about devastates anything around him. Claws/WP scrapper. If it's not an AV, it's done. DONE.
    //Even some AVs tremble...
    ///Hugely soloable.
////Oh, must mention... the Brawl only Brawler took on **18** Family minions that were all +1... and took them all out. Not real sure why they all decided to stay... the Rise to the Challenge taunt shoulda only had 10 or so... maybe it rotated. Whatever, it happened. That's what proper strategy will get you on this solo only project. Ok, I'm done with the soap box.
