Quote:Don't hate on the Devs, hate on the exploiters. They're creating the cheating situations the Devs are then having to react to.
Also, the Devs could care less about farming, they just don't want you to exploit system loopholes using AE as a "hack toolbox" to do it.
There is another solution... GM Approved Posting only. You create and edit at will, however a a GM or Dev has to check the pending published missions (and any subsequent edited versions) out before it's made available to the public. That would stop all the exploit farms from ever being published, without ever needing to patch another thing.
Of course... there would be that pesky wait...
the other solution is to turn all AE's into walmarts. -

Quote:I remember being dragged through the Hess TF and wondering what the hell was going on. It was my first time on an 8 man team, and it was a whole new world. Thank you to the war gods of Infinity for carrying this newb through.I remember when I first started playing, I had no clue how I was supposed to slot things (though 6 slotting hasten was the norm then too). And abbreviations, especially in this game, can get quite confusing. FS could mean fulcrum shift, foot stomp, fire sword, fire shield, focused senses, ect. And unless someone told you, would you know where to go for a cape, either side? Insp is sort of a given, though if you only called it an inspiration would you know what insp meant? TF, again, abbreviation.
There are noobs out there, but we were all newbs at one point or another. -
Quote:You rarely see EM tanks anymore. I wonder why that is??In that case you might as well just roll a new character.
I dont think anyone is suggesting have TWO different primary/secondaries on the same character.
In my case, I wish I could change my secondary from Energy to Electric Melee. I dont want Energy melee anymore. At all.
But, meh, I dont really see it happening anytime soon, if ever. So re-roll it is. -
My first 50 was a energy/fire blaster. I dont think I could come up with a worse combo. At the time, it looked neat. Some where in the mid 30's I realized it was a screw up. I have since rerolled and leveled 6 other blasters to 50.While I rarely play my first 50, I dont think respecing her is the answer. Each 50 has a different feel and a different play. You need to learn that playstyle. Sure, you could figure it out in short order, but where is the fun in that?

Gordon in croatoa needs a new cell phone plan. He needs to give out his cell phone number after the end of the first mission or so. This should be a fairly simple fix.

you can swim underwater. 2nd mission of itf, in the caves. there are water pools with cysts in the room, you can swim underwater.

3) Who are you, and why should we care?
we want to pay them $10 more than we would otherwise pay.....this is a bad thing? -

Quote:agreed. I wish they would at least do a quick post "we are working hard on GR. Preparing for beta. We will have it out as soon as possible." Or "working hard on some kick *** feature, taking a little time to get it right. Hopefully you will really like what we have for you"No. I mean there has been no new zones or real content added in ages. Honestly, after five years I think I'm finally done with this game. I'm just keeping my subscription going in hopes that GR is awesome and gets me excited about this game again.
Anything to keep people attention. -

Quote:I watch the server global channels. If I am on Infinity and see no activity for 1.5 hrs in an average evening, I am inclined to believe that we have lower server activity. Go stand at Imperious and watch how many fewer TF's are starting. The frequency of hami raids and Mothership raids. You can see for yourself. If I may interject...
Of course, we will seldom if ever see yellow and red dots on servers like Triumph anymore. Green, Yellow and Red were a measure of percentage of capacity, and while population (judged by quarterly company reports) has been steady, server hardware was improved. With the improved servers (yeah, there have been problems from time to time, like when Sharkhead was unsteady as heck on Virtue, etc.) handling the same raw number of players, it would do so at a much lower percentage of maximum capacity.
Since August of 2004, I have seen a few declines in apparent activity.
*When debt was reduced in missions and mission completion bonuses were raised, I saw a huge decrease in street-sweeping.
*When I-5 and I-6 nerfed the heck out of certain powersets, I saw a decrease in PL beggars in P.I.
*When I-9 introduced IO's as something for L50's to blow thier nest eggs on (and to farm/grind for), I saw a decrease in people standing around AP running Costume Contests.
*When the RMT'ers were bugging us and even more when the /hide feature became granulated, I saw a decrease in the number of players available on /search.
*When the AE farms were introduced, I saw a decrease in the amount of players spamming in P.I. for "PL meh!"
*When the AE farms were nerfed, I saw a decrease in the amount of players spamming in AP for "PL meh!"
I predict that in about a month, I will see a decrease in the amount of players not in Pocket D.
My point? You only see a decrease in population in this game when you only look in one spot.
I am not employed by the company, nor do I believe that any of the posters in this thread are either. (Unless I missed a red-name, since I skimmed through it a bit.) So feel free to skip terms like "Company Hack". -
Quote:Is it leveling speed or lack of new content that has reduced player levels? Any proof or just speculation? We have had 2 years of no real content. AE had potential, but they gutted it. Even with all the buzz about GR, it is still 4-6 months away.Even Though I have just replied and fear I will repeat my self. Samuel I can See that you joined in 2004. Certainly YOU can see the hugh reduction in players. Do you truly believe that this "Turbo power leveling" had no effect in the reduction of players? I submit to you that the more available and easier power leveling has become that the number of players has decreased.

I have always felt that the devs should 1 time a month, post a list of people that got 3day/perma bans. Not the actual names or anything identifiable, but a list that says:
25 people given 3 day bans for excessive use of profanity ingame
3 people given perma bans for repeat offense
15 accounts banned for RMT activity
That would let people know that yes, they are policing without violating anyones privacy. -

Quote:Special characters would be great provided there's a limit on which ones are available. The "other MMO" allows pretty unlimited use of special characters and there are a lot of grotesquely ugly and immersion breaking names because of it. Accented characters commonly used in languages like French or German would be nice.
Umlats make anything more "Metal" -
Quote:Frankly I'm enjoying this "Ghost Town" where I can get teams whenever I want compared to what it was like prior to this supposed nerf when seemingly all anybody wanted to do was farm AE missions, although it was still possible to get teams together for non MA stuff, just took a little more work. If anything the game seems slightly more crowded than it was prior to the release of MA.
Before AE ever came out, tf's formed on a more or less constant basis. Multiple teams doing the striga arcs at the same time. It is not as active as before AE. Watching the Infinity badge channels for over an hour and having no activity during the evening hours. Id say that is a problem. Did AE (or the nerfing of it)
cause this? No idea really. But I can tell the difference. Thats not doom, thats just an observation. -

you donr need to level beyond level 1. you dont need to enhance any power. you dont need to take a travel power. and you dont need to slot purples or IO's. Doing any or all of these will enhance your enjoyment of the game.

[QUOTE=Hyperstrike;2249391]Quote:that word random doesnt mean what you think it means. You get purple drops. you know others that get purple drops. He knowns people that dont get purple drops. you say everything is fine. If you had a crash to desktop bug that only affected 10% of the population, would you say its WAI? no bug because i can stay on the game just fine? Or would the devs work to fix the problem 10% have? I get a purple drop every 6 months or so. Others get them evrey day or so. It may not be as random as you think. There are indications of that.
No.
If I get a purple I can't/don't want to use on one alt (it's happened), I want to be able to either move it to an alt who needs it, store it for later, or possibly sell it. Making it non-transferrable essentially makes it junk.
Moreover, think about it. If it's non-transferrable, you can't buy one off the market then. You have to farm your....butt....off in the hopes that you get ONE. There are people who've been playing here YEARS who've only ever dropped one or two purples.
RANDOM ROLL MEANS RANDOM. -
if it would be nontransferable, it would not be a blank check. you cant sell it, therefore, it will only be worth something to you.
