The good guys on each side seem to be more concerned about not damaging themselves, ethically and morally, than winning. They maintain the social contract.
The bad guys on each side seem to regard "the end justifies the means" as a valid strategy. Overthrow the government at any cost, vs. keep control at any cost. -
Quote:I'm of the opinion that for "duo" you want something like a Brute and a Corruptor work best. Scrapper and Controller or Defender might work just as well.Which would make a better duo? And which would deal more damage (considering the new defender damage buff)?
Obviously it depends to some degree what sets and combos you pick, but generally that's how I feel. I don't think you can really buf each other up enough if you just have two Cors or Defs to work with. The meatshield is important. Plus Brutes and Scrappers do excellent damage too.
I think /Invulnerability for Brutes or Scrappers is good. Plays most of the game on easy mode and not too hard to IO for the highest level game play. Has a strong taunt aura for more "easy mode" with a Corruptor.
Or you can pick a "controller-esque" set like /Dark Armor. Bit harder to play but still very viable, esp. with IOs.
Either go damage on the Brute, like SS/Invul or Fire/Invul, or go self-suffcient like Dark/Invul. Then pair the Corr to that. If you went Smashing Lethal damage, pick Rad as the secondary. If you went something more exotic, pick Dark or Fire for the primary and then /Dark Miasma for the secondary.
My ideas:
SS/Invul Brute, Dark/Rad Corr
Fire/Invul Brute, Dark/Dark Corr
Dark/Invul Brute, Fire/Dark Corr
Dark/Dark Brute, Fire/Thermal Corr (stack resistances)
Dark/Dark Brute, Ice/Thermal Corr (more control in Ice)
Something like that would bring a lot to a duo, and you could add anything at all to this and the power would just go up. Great for teaming too. -
Something about Praetoria (I'm not sure if it's deliberate) but: do you notice how the "bad guys" tend to be the ones who are the most extreme, on both sides?
Whereas the "good guys" are the one who are moderate. They may have different beliefs but the don't blow up hospitals or abduct citizens over it. -
Yeah, it's kinda on the north side of Imperial City. There's a crowd of icons around it so it can be hard to spot. Just mouse hover and look for the purple star.

I would personally think that if you "both like damage" that a Brute and Corruptor would be the best for duoing.
Pick a good Brute like Fire/Invul or Dark/Invul, pick a complementary Corruptor, say Dark/Dark or Fire/Dark respectively, and go to town. You'd be awesome even solo, better together, and you could team with anything and it would just make it better.
Slight preference for Dark/Invul broot with Fire/Dark cor but that's just cause I want to see what that combo would do. -

Quote:... simply auto-Defeat every Player (and NPC Mob) in the Zone ...
Yeah, no. Way too annoying.
However, slowly killing off citizens would be an interesting way to make the event feel more like a "deadly apocalypse".
First one would get blasted with eldritch fire or some-such, run around waving his arms for a while, and then crumble to the ground. Then a couple seconds later another would experience the same fate.
You'd have all these burning corpses laying in the streets and lots less citizens. Those who do remain should be doing the "cautious walk" or "running screaming" or even just standing in place shaking. Way too much work for this year I'm sure but may be next year it could be added. Have to figure out a way to get corpses to stick around longer so that the event has a true "deadly apocalypse" feel to it. -
Sorta Subjective Feedback: I just finished the Tutorial in Praetoria. I logged in to Nova Praetoria to find a zombie attack. Zombies are darn tough when you're level 2! Anyway I got killed right in front of Miss Liberty/Praetor Duncan.
There are no guards in Praetoria to defend against bad guys around the trainers.
While I understand you may not wish to add any guards for various reasons, I just thought I'd point that out. It might be interesting to warp in some help for the duration of the zombie attack. For example, if Mother Mayhem and the Manticore analog were standing next to Praetor Duncan zapping zombies, it would make a lot more sense for her to continue to just stand there. I realize that would be rather more work for you, but I thought I'd make the suggestion. -

Just jumped on the Test server after a long absence.
I noticed that I couldn't redeem the two slots I have (I tried and nothing happened). And when I deleted slots, they reverted to "Unavailable."
Any ideas what's going on?
And can I purchase slots on the test server with out being charged, like used to be?
Thanks, it's kinda hard to test Praetoria since all my toons are already elsewhere, and I'd prefer to not have to delete most of them since the copy tool is still down. -
Quote:Defiant happens to be my server when I'm playing Euro-side - but as you're on the wrong side of the law, I can only give you verbal help until unless you go into a co-op zone
And welcome to the game and the forums
What she means is you're playing a villain, not that you're breaking any actual laws.
And come-on, Golden Girl. Surely you can move one Hero over to Vigilante statuc just for occasions like this. I mean, those Villains might be redeemable, you could help them out with that. -
Champion also has TFs organized daily (often multiple TFs per day) on its server channels.
Hop on BMT of Champion and Champions United to check it out. -
Quote:The only thing Im finding a bit disconcerting, is the fact that for a MMPORG, I've barely seen anybody who isn't an NPC
This game is heavily instanced. Which means most of the time all the other players are inside a mission like you are, so you won't see any one until the zone population starts to go up by quite a lot.
Solution: get on those server channels. These are player made channels that everyone hops on just for the same reason you are having problems. Everyone's inside an instance, and it can be hard to find teams or other help.
I don't know what the channels are for Defiant, but I'm sure someone will pop up soon to tell you. -
Quote:2. ...go to Port Oakes and get your broker, newspaper and do newspaper missions there until you level up and effectively you are +1 to the mission
The advice you've got here is excellent, Hart's post just above mine is a very good list of tactics. And don't overlook rolling a Brute or Mastermind either, they're great for starting out.
However I like SwellGuy's #2 I quoted. The newspaper missions will net you a Jet Pack. This enables you to fly and it's a big boost for getting around. (You could also purchase a recipe and craft the Jet Pack, but this one is better.)
Also, any number of level 50's would like to have the badge that comes with the Jet Pack. (It's actually called a Mayhem Mission, and you get to rob a bank.) So while it can be a bit tricky to get, you can also get lots of help. To do this you'll need to join a server (global, not just in-zone like broadcast), which will make it easy to find folks. Let us know what server you're on and we'll help you out with what channel to join.
Plus, in the time it takes you to do the three newspaper missions and the Mayhem Mission, you'll likely hit level 8, pick up Crushing Field, and be much more capable in general to handle those pesky snakes.
So my plan would be:
1. Find your server channels and join them.
2. Hit Port Oaks and the broker (newspaper) missions.
3. When you get the "rob a bank" mission (happens after three newspaper missions), advertise on the server channel for anyone to join and get the badge.
4. Get the jet pack, get level 8, get Crushing Field.
5. Go back to Mercy and show those snakes who's boss. -
On another thread, I proposed getting rid of the "origin" column and replacing it with something to indicate team/invite status.
I agree with most of the posters on this thread and I think something "really ought" to be done. The Find Member dialog is harder to use that it really needs to be. -
something/Storm perhaps? Maybe Demons/Storm.
Or go for something really different and do a Mercs/Pain. -

That's a neat idea actually. Throw in some zombie-rot, bloody clothing and bandages for costume enhancement and you might have a winner.

It's All Hallows Eve. -
Quote:It's probably just the praetorian ouro, not the nonexistent storm, though that does raise the question of who would start oro if Nemesis is not Nemesis there. Maybe time travel led to the dimension becoming praetoria in the first place?
Oh that's good. I never believed that OUR Nemesis would do something nice like fix time. But I never considered the Praetorian Nemesis. He'd almost certainly be a good guy, right?
OK, prediction: The Nemesis we visit in Ouro is from Praetoria. That screenshot you see is either A) A destroyed version of the Ouro in Praetoria that Praetorian Nemesis first started with, or B) A future version of Ouro which is under attack by various forces. -
Quote:But here's my proposed fix: Make the "Stay" Mastermind pet command (which as I understand it is currently just "GOTO your current location" with a pretty symbol) inflict a high Mag immobilise (~100?) on the pets you issue that command.
OK so far, couple of issues:
1. Please don't do this by default. The current behavior works well in many circumstances. Add a parameter to the GOTO command like "force" to invoke the new behavior. So a command needs to be like "petcom goto force aggressive" to get the immobilize behavior.
2. The devs will also have to add a counter to the Immobilize, something like a dispell. Right now the only way to do this is to buff status (mez) protection to override the mag of the immob. There might be a way to remove a given power or effect already in game, but I can't think of an example.
3. Each other command besides "goto force" is going to need this dispell, including the regular "goto". More work for the devs, unfortunately.
It's a good idea, but you can see how the workload increases once you start considering interactions with other parts of the game. I'd love to see smarter AI or other fixes, but I think the devs attention is mostly elsewhere right now. We can ask though; I'll support asking the devs. -
Ah, ok, didn't see that guide. Thanks!

Hey all, I'm plowing through some old content in Ouroboros and also getting the badges associated with that content.
Are there any recommended missions for the different Ouroboros missions? The Ouroboros badges require you to do various mission arcs while debuffed or unable to use temp powers, and they require you to do it at various mission arc levels to get all the badges.
So I was looking for some arcs that aren't too hard and aren't too long. I'll tell you which arc to NOT do is Willy Wheeler's "There's a sucker born every minute." Due to a bug or whatever this arc is actually his entire mission set, including the badge, two random missions and then the arc. Ouch.
Oh yes, I'm looking for Villain side arcs.
I noticed there's no information on Ouroboros badges in the FAQ at the top of this forum. Perhaps if some good information shows up here we could then add the information to the FAQ.
Thanks! -
We'll probably need some new guides when I19 hits and the Fitness pool becomes inherent. Anyone who's itching to update a guide, I'd say wait until then.
IO Sets will need to be re-planned then, too. I have no Stamina and a ton of +Recovery in sets, so that build will likely change completely.
