I started with a Dominator as my first character, despite being told it would be hard. I ended up loving her.
As for servers, I do recommend Virtue as I tend to have my most fun times there. I also have a lot of characters on Triumph made back when Triumph was active... but I rarely run into people there anymore. -
Heck, we just need more thigh-high boots in general. WHY, devs? WHY can't we have the outfits from that one fashion show mission (minus the one belt that has two cape systems)? WHYYYYYYYY do those completely inconsequential NPCs have to be unique?
-
Just putting it out there that Morrowind, an eight-year-old game, has both environment-affecting rain (it causes ripples in water) AND powers/spells that illuminate the surrounding environment... and it doesn't look fake at all on the rocky or paved surfaces that don't become reflective.
I also disagree with weather-on-a-constant-loop; the only constant weather I like is the fog in Dark Astoria. But setting up weather as random zone events? That could work well, I think... I'm imagining a foggy morning in Croatoa, or lightning cracking the sky over Grandville. Sweeeeet.
A hitch, though, that COULD make things look fake is that for anything involving wind, people's capes would have to respond. I don't know how the light breeze that affects our capes now is handled, but if there's a howling thunderstorm out there they sure ain't going to be hanging serenely at our backs. -

I didn't mean morphing animations, I meant animating whatever animal you've shifted into. Kheldians already have this kind of shapeshifting power, so it is possible in the game engine - but each form needs its own set of attack/hit/movement/etc animations, and since I assume you're after more than just one or two alternate forms like the Kheldians, that would be an ENORMOUS project.
On the other hand, a Beast Mastermind would have to involve at least nine new models with their own animations (three tiers of pets each with two layers of upgrades, as well as possible species variance within tiers) so it could make some amount of sense that if you make one, the other would be less of an issue due to the possibility of using most of the same models and animations. Even then, the shapeshifting would probably involve more animating, since un-upgraded mastermind pets only have one attack and a player in shifted form would need to have more than that. -
Quote:Funny, the places I frequent use the word to describe the particular art style of anthropomorphic animals with very distinct human aesthetics and behaviors, as separate from lycanthropes and "funny animals" - but what do I know, I only draw them. Anyway, regardless of that it's still a dumb reason not to make animal parts, for the same equating-all-anime-with-hentai reason I stated before. Yes, there's a lot of creepy furry porn out there; only an idiot would deny that - but given that our current game allows you to make a male character wearing fishnet stockings, leather straps, a gimp mask, and two nipple piercings, even put some bleeding whip lash marks on him, and not get banned for it, the argument that "Anthro body parts should not be allowed because they are suggestive of depraved sexual fetishes" seems pretty ridiculous.Actually, the stigma of what a "furry" is has altered that term's definition to the point that it does just refer to those with deviant sexual tastes. There's now a difference between furries and anthropomorphic animals, and it comes down to the difference between liking anthropomorphic animals and liking anthropomorphic animals.

I would SO back this, and help with it. My mace brute is like level 20, which means I won't have the carnie hammer her concept demands for quite some time...

Shapeshifting is something we don't have because Babs would quickly wear away his teeth animating it, but I would definitely like a Beastmaster set for MMs.

Quote:Okay, dude, people need to stop equating furries with sex. That's like saying "This is anime" and linking a screencap from a poorly-dubbed hentai, while ignoring the existence of high-budget, nonsexual things like Hayao Miyazaki films. You know what else is a furry? This. Here is another. Getting into things I didn't draw myself, we have this and this. I fail to see anything creepy about these characters, and I curse the very loud minority of furries who give a bad name to all fans of the subset of anthropomorphic art - and a quick search on Google will get you just as much creepy stuff, plenty of it creepier than that picture by a large margin, of human superheroes (a search for Sue Storm yesterday, to get ideas on how to render partial invisibility, brought up some stuff that was downright disturbing... with Safe Search ON).I have a Mind/Energy dom called Ms. Foxglove. Her costume is fox ears and a tail (Like cat-woman or Squirrel Girl) you can have a tail and NOT be a furry.
This is a furry:

Creepy, no?
For the record, I dig humans. -
Q: How many AE babies does it take to change a light bulb?
A: wuts lite bulb -
Quote:It stays on. I did the same thing with Sprint on a character I have who is meant to be able to go transparent at will (since for IC reasons he perma-hovers, this has the added bonus of making a formerly extraneous power mildly useful as well). When you put a proc in a toggle, the proc triggers like every ten seconds* or something like that.Do you have to toggle it every 120 secs or does it just stay on?
*Number is pulled out of the air -
Which you could use, I suppose, if you simply removed all the accessory-sticky-out-bits and left only the tights behind... the head might be a challenge though.

QFT. The failure to be funny, coupled with my extremely cynical mood over that one suggestion in a different thread about replacing Wormhole in Gravity Control with an AOE slow, did an excellent job of disguising the fact that it was meant as a joke.

Quote:...So while all other archetype booster packs give you a power with a minor-to-moderate bonus to your effectiveness, you propose that Mutants get a hefty penalty? Game balance says WUT."Child of the Atom"
Auto Power (Gained at level 1 on all Mutant Origin Heroes)
As a mutant hero, you are hated and feared by those you are sworn to protect. All co-aligned mobs will attack you on sight. However, you may not betray your heroic ideals and attack co-aligned mobs, even in self defense.
Further nonsense: Since only people who buy a booster get the power in it, those who bought the Mutant pack (while of course still able to use its costume parts) would be punished for playing a Mutant by means of the included "power." Those without the pack would be able to play a Mutant character without issue.
Honestly, did you even THINK about that suggestion? -
You can have my Wormhole when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
-
How about making it a craftable temp power, then? That way the ability to fire off the recharge-speed increases would have a recharge time of its own, allowing you only one at a time.
-
And here I was expecting catgirls. This made me smile!
-
I do! If I have a temp power that has limited uses, I always remove it from my tray when I have one use left, just to keep the power. My favorite is Vial of Bees.

Oh jeez, now I'm REALLY hoping for fins. I don't even have a character to use them on, I just want to see more fishmen.

Didn't grab the name "Cordyceps" on Virtue the VERY SECOND I saw it was free... by the time I finished the costume, someone else had taken it. D:

Quote:Actually it's harder, since pieces that sit outside are subject to clipping while the base body parts (since they just replace what's already there instead of adding to it) are not.well you do got me there, i know nothing of 3D modeling (actually i hardly know anything about art in general lol)
i know it would require adjusting, but since its a piece that attaches to the outside it shouldnt be as hard as rescaling body armor, but i know its more complicated than just "porting" it directly over -
Quote:There's already been an explanation in the thread for how the Well of the Furies works - I'm sure it will satisfy you. Basically, it boils down to "those characters like Zeus and Athena that people called 'gods' were actually just powerful super-beings just like Statesman, because they drank from the well too."Yeah True but, for all no These Incarnate Gods aren't really Gods at all but Aliens or Interdimesional Beings. I mean this is a Scifi Fanasty Game After all and anything is Possible if I have to pick i Guess I pick Either Thor or The Dragon God Bahamut.
Either way, all I'm sayin' is that with all this other imaginary stuff clearly existing in this universe, why not gods as well? In fact, if you do some TFs in the Shadow Shard, you can literally punch one in the face... so it looks like even though gods aren't real in OUR world, they're real in the game world. It doesn't mean anything, it's just a work of fiction. I don't believe in the kind of thing most people would call a "god" either, but that doesn't kill my suspension of disbelief any more than all sorts of other things I don't believe in, like vampires or telekinesis.
