I didn't say everyone has it all the time, I said anyone can easily get it. Those are two completely different things. The fact that it can be easily obtained, and few bother, illustrates that the majority of players in the game don't see it as something worth having.

It apparently says more about the playstyle of a lot of people than anything. I'm far from the only person who never uses the power analyzers.

There's lots of powers that work differently in PVP than in PVE, make the change PVE only.

On the topic of the OP's suggestions:

I like the first one. I might take it further though. Instead of three trip mines, have it be a large patch of little tiny bomblets, like cluster munitions. The animation would be very similar to caltrops, with the character scattering the little bombs around. Then you could set the damage to be whatever you wanted.

The second one I'm not so big on. I'm assuming you're referring to it being like oil slick arrow, not tar patch. Which is a good concept, but in execution, OSA is one of the buggiest powers in the entire game, and has been as long as it's existed, since it's apparently also the most complicated single power in the game.

The third suggestion, what I'd really like to see done with gun drone is just make it a permanent pet. You summon it, and it sticks around until it dies. Then the long cast time wouldn't matter.

The other thing I'd like to see done to devices is a small damage buff (say 15-20%) added to targeting drone. Originally, before ED, devices gave up burst damage (i.e. not having buildup) for having higher sustained damage than the other blaster secondaries, since devices players could slot six damage instead of five damage and one accuracy in their attacks. When ED came along, devices lost that ability, and got nothing in return.

I was curious to see how true this was, since my perception has always been that the tutorial was faster. I created two new level 1 characters, both kat/regen scrappers with the exact same power choices. Both became heroes. One went into the tutorial, one went straight to atlas park. I timed how long it took each one to get to level two, counting from when I finished claiming all my vet powers until, in the tutorial case, I zoned into atlas park, and in the non-tutorial case, I finished leveling up to level 2 (since the time spent leveling is included in the tutorial.

The tutorial took 3:51, The non-tutorial took 2:10.

    Turns out you were right.

Just because it doesn't take anything away from scrappers doesn't automatically make it a good suggestion. It's a bad idea because it gives scrappers something they can easily get anyway but for the most part don't because no one cares. It's useless and useless = bad.
  6. I like to do it just so that I can enter the sewer trial with three powers instead of two.
  7. The ONLY thing that I'd really like to see done to scrappers is replace the stupid useless confront power in every primary with something useful.

You could even take confront away from scrappers and give it to brutes in place of taunt, so that tanks could feel special since they would have a better aggro management power than brutes.
  8. If the devs are going to change scrappers' inherent power (and I hope they don't), please don't do this. It's a bad suggestion.

They wanted to do the rewards up front but the devs said technical issues related to how vet rewards were awarded prevented it from working that way. There is no estimate on when this will be fixed or if it's possible to fix.

They NEVER said paragon points would be awarded in bulk up front.

    Hope that helps.
Yep, that answers my question, thanks.
  10. I've got a little extra money laying around, and I like the way the game is going right now, so I'm considering paying for more than a month at a time, something I've never done before.

If I do so, how does that work with my paragon points and paragon rewards tokens. If I pay for a year, would I get 4800 paragon points and 4 paragon reward tokens immediately, or would I continue getting them monthly through the course of the year?
  11. firespray

    Is it justified?

We're getting new powersets a lot more often than we used to. I don't mind paying for them as long as they are high quality. Many of them have been, but a few have been disappointing.

True, they won't be a complete waste of money. Even the current ~200 million for a gladiator's armor is in most cases 40-50 times what I paid for the PVP IOs. At the moment though, the limited supply of converters I have is much better spent converting the junk purples that I bought.
  13. I'll end up making 4-5 billion, all from purples. The PVP IOs I bought were a waste of money. I didn't expect the market on gladiator's armor to crash as fast and as hard as it did, but I only spent about 500 million on them.

Overall I'm quite pleased with how things turned out. And what's best is that 500 million inf insured that I'll never have to buy another miracle, numina's, steadfast protection, or regenerative tissue again. And I'm set on LotG and kinetic combats for awhile.
  14. I don't tend to save slots for things, but there are several things I'm eagerly awaiting.

I've got a couple low-level blasters who are sitting around waiting for blaster buffs so that they can be awesome again.

I'm waiting for a tech-y control set of some sort.

I'm waiting for another tech-y or natural themed blaster secondary besides devices.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't buy my IOs with real cash, but as long as the ones you could buy with real money were exactly the same as the ones you could buy with inf, I'd have no problem with selling them in the paragon market.
  16. My /time is a fire/time corruptor, and he is an absolute blast to play.

My bathroom is being remodeled starting today, and I've just been told it might take two whole weeks, so I probably won't be able to do much development until that finishes. Once that's done, I'll be able to change the references.
    That's great, thanks man.

I never said it's just arbitrary mechanics. I realize that character concepts are important (to some), but there's no good reason why a single alignment between hero and villain couldn't support the exact same concepts as the two we have now do.

But only because they've been defined that way. It would be just as easy to combine them into a single alignment and open the concept up to include both those willing to step over the line a bit to do the right thing, and those who are strictly out for personal gain regardless of the morals involved.

Sure I can. The mechanics of having two different purple alignments are clunky and awkward. And since combining them, if done correctly, would improve the mechanics without stifling character concepts, there's no good reason not to do it.

If it helps, the loading box shows 'loading enhancement database' and 'loading graphics' as being the two parts that are taking a significant amount of time. Everything else before that scrolls by too fast to see.
  20. Has anyone else noticed that since the update Mids' is taking a ridiculously long time to open? It was bad before, taking 30-40 seconds on a new, high-powered computer. Now it takes close to 5 minutes.

    2) "Grey" arcs. solo and team arcs that require a certain "moral flexibility." This would require certain choices to be made in the arcs and missions.

    3) Special "grey" perks and awards.

    4) A "grey" EAT/VEAT. My suggestion would be the "Profiteer," a stealthy blasterish AT with secondary mastermindish support powers (eg support pets) with an innate ability to generate better/extra rewards for teams.
I agree with all of these. Though I would add to the list that the biggest thing you could do to help convince people to play purple is to only have one alignment. Having two is just stupid.
  22. I've been getting mine in Terra Volta now. The big spawns of sky raiders near the door tend to get me three pretty fast. Once I have three, I just run the tip missions, killing my way through, and by the time I've finished all three, I usually have the two more I need to cap out that day's tip missions.
  23. My favorite is Napalm Firestorm, a fire/sr scrapper. He was the first character I made after I came back to the game from several years away. He was the first I made who was IO'd, and the first to be purpled. So for him, IOs, and proliferating fiery melee to scrappers were what made him possible.
  24. I'm curious what you were trying to sell it for? Generally screwups like that are due to too many or too few zeroes. But you couldn't have been trying to sell it for 5 billion, and 50 million doesn't make any sense either.

I've always thought this too. It's not as noticeable on brutes with their low base damage numbers, but I've always thought that rage would have to be weakened quite a bit to be ported to scrappers.

The problem is though, that without rage, SS is average at best.
