  1. I only partially agree with you that the farming and powerleveling within AE are a problem. And not so much that they exist, but that they are so much more efficient than farming outside of AE is. And I think the root of the problem basically comes from 1 place. The ability to create all boss farms, or all LT farms. When farming normally, you can't find these conditions. Even on an 8-man team, you only get 2-3 bosses, plus a few lieutenants, and a cluster of minions. With AE, you can create a custom group of nothing but bosses, and get 10-15 of them per spawn. And with enough AoE damage and a good kin on the team, 10-15 bosses don't really take any longer to defeat than the 2-3 bosses that would exist in a non AE farm mission. This could easily be fixed by simply making it so that any custom group you create has to have at least 1 minion, 1 lieutenant, and 1 boss in it.
  2. The fast activation times/high damage are what I love most about fire blast powers. With a level 50 fire/dev, a level 40 fire/mm, and a lowbie fire/dark corruptor, I'd be VERY disappointed if the activation times were increased. I would support lowering the activation times of other similar powers, since I think this is one of those cases where a buff is better than a nerf.
  3. Superstrength and electric melee for scrappers.
Broadsword, electric, and super reflexes for tanks.
    Rad blast for blasters.
    Thermal for defenders
    Archery for corruptors
    Kinetics and rad for masterminds
claws, broadsword, katana, and spines for brutes

    That's about it.
  4. Definitely. I've wanted pulse rifle expanded into a full set for a long time. The primary would be great for it, although some of the secondary powers might need a little reworking.

Different things on different servers = different codebases = BAD.

    That is all.

This. Had the game been designed this way originally, it wouldn't be an issue (i.e. a PvP server, an RP server, etc.), but adding it now would cause headaches we don't need.

Also, yes, I know PvP didn't exist when the game first came out, but I assume it was probably already planned.
  6. The main reason I dislike this suggestion is because of the trademark issues surrounding it. And I see it being a problem for 2 reasons.

    1. The set is narrowly focused. The idea of shooting energy blasts at someone is not narrowly focused, so it's okay. The idea of specifically shooting energy blasts out of your eyes at someone is very narrowly focused, so it's less likely to be okay.

    2. The set is character defining. Similarly, we already have several eye-blast powers (PB and WS have them, laser-beam eyes in the body mastery pool, and rad's x-ray beam). However, none of these powers are character defining. They're 1 power out of many, and not the focus of the entire set.

Those two things highlight my argument why claws/regen is okay and this isn't. The claws/regen combo is character defining (matching up to wolverine's powers), but neither set is narrowly focused. The idea of being able to heal quickly and the ability to attack someone with claws are both pretty broad. Even the combination can lead a lot of different directions. You could be a wolverine clone to a werewolf.

Optic blast and optic manipulation, however, are both character defining AND narrowly focused. If you make a character with optic blast/optic manipulation, you can't really avoid being a cyclops clone, even with a different costume.

Whether it's technically legal or not by trademark law isn't really the issue. These powersets would be practically BEGGING for another lawsuit, and that's a hassle that Paragon Studios and NCSoft don't need.

Despite that, it is a cool looking set, and I can tell you put a lot of thought into it, so kudos on that part.
  7. Change the name to trademark infringement blast and I'll /sign.

    PVP IO farming

I tried that, but her dying breaks the auto-target. I might try something with a macro, but I'm not sure macros can be set to auto-activate.

    PVP IO farming

I'm trying to farm for PvP IO drops (and arena kills for our SG), but I'm having trouble finding a good method to do it. The best I've come up with is to go into the arena with my wife's character, do a duel cagematch, and just stand next to her with fire sword circle on auto. It's slow though, since it takes about 8 hits to kill her, and it's on about a 9 second recharge. So I'm looking for a better way to do things. Is there a way I can make the matches last longer than 30 minutes? Or a way I can kill her faster without having to be at the computer?
  10. I'd say overall it's pretty uncommon. My AV soloer has the AVs he's beaten solo listed in his ID, and I've had several people flat out call me a liar for saying I beat all of them solo.
  11. Wow, that's quite a tough challenge. I suppose you could cheat a little and go with a mastermind, taking your 1st tier pet and either dark or pain for a secondary with a nice strong heal.

Other options might be a fire/energy blaster, taking fire blaster (best DPS of the blaster attacks that would be available at level 1 with only a 4 second recharge). Energy would give you power thrust which would give you a little bit of mitigation. Ring of fire from fire manipulation would give the most damage of all the secondary powers available.

Other than that, maybe some kind of defender? A kin with siphon power or a sonic with sonic siphon would be able to boost your damage a bit.
  12. Not the market specifically, but the invention system in general is part of why I enjoy the game as much as I do. I played for a few months back in I4 and I5, then left when ED came around. I gave the game another try last year and the invention system and the ability to pimp out characters with it is a big part of why I like the game again.

Besides not making any kind of sense from a physics viewpoint (how does your growling at these guys stop the wind from blowing them away?), I don't think we need to stop KB. When used properly KB can be a very useful mitigation and clumping tool

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll agree that properly used knockback can be a great benefit to a team. The problem is that it's not properly used most of the time. Based solely on my experiences in the game. The ratio is about like this.

30% detrimental use: Players spreading out previously herded mobs, knocking things into another mob and then attacking again to aggro the next group, throwing things outside the tank's taunt aura then whining when it kills them, blowing mobs off of the ice slick/oil slick/earthquake, etc.

65% adequate use: Not really a detriment to the team, but not really helpful either, except maybe to the character using the knockback.

5% helpful use: These are the few players that really know what they're doing with KB. They blast mobs into walls and corners to group them up and mitigate damage. The knock stray enemies into the pile, or away from squishies in trouble, etc.

I'm not necessarily saying that the OPs suggestion is a good one, but I can certainly see where he's coming from. There's more people that cause problems for a team with there KB than there are that actively help the team.
  14. As far as the easiest playstyle goes, I'd say go with a scrapper. They're very straightforward to play.

As far as powersets go, I'd suggest katana/WP. Katana is a nice easy set to use, with good damage, nice secondary effects, and a good mix of AoE and Single target damage. Willpower is the easiest of all the scrapper secondaries to play. You just turn on your toggles and go to town. And despite the simplicity of the sets, if you ever get to the point where you're looking for good high-end performance, they can do that too.
  15. Softcapped Fire/SR scrapper: I can solo AVs, survive conditions that tanks fear to tread, and dish out single target damage that makes blasters envious.

Earth/Kin controller: My ADD character. I NEVER run out of buttons to press, and I can lock a mob down like nothing you've ever seen. Tanks need not apply.

Fire/MM blaster: I am a walking, talking, living, breathing, Apocalypse in thigh-highs. I can dish out AoE damage like you wouldn't believe.
  16. I'm all for more costume options, as long as we don't have to pay for them. More ethnic stuff in general would be nice. I'd especially like a turban for one of my heroes.

from what i know, it has to be a fire based attack to light oil slick on fire.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, Electric and Energy attacks work as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

More specifically, it's anything that does fire or energy damage (which is what electrical attacks do). Which means that even things like radiation attacks will light one up.
  18. This suggestion wouldn't do anything for me. When I'm playing a character that has knockback powers, I LIKE knockback. It only annoys me when I'm not the one that has it.
  19. Removing the AE buildings from GC, AP, and KR, would essentially make it so you couldn't start leveling in the AE until roughly level 12 or so, at least not safely. That would detract from the devs idea of "The AE is an alternate leveling path from 1 to 50".

Also, removing it would do NOTHING but move the whole shebang to another zone. If you don't like the AE chatter, deal with it yourself, and stop trying to foist your problems off on other people.

Let's think about a hypothetical situation. If Talos Island had become the hub for AE farming activity instead of Atlas Park, how would you respond to the threads that suggested removing the building from Talos? If the answer is anything but "I would support them" you're just being selfish.

Then consider this. If we DO remove the building from atlas, within a week, all the farming activity will have moved somewhere else (probably talos). What will you do then, when people come and suggest removing the building from talos? Eventually, there'd be no AE buildings left if the devs listened to every crackpot thread wanting a building removed from someone's favorite zone.
  20. I disagree with your suggestion, I like the atlas AE building where it is.

This whole thread is full of awesome ideas. Please implement all of them RIGHT NAO!!!
  22. If they could work the bugs out of it, being able to combine any three insps of the same color but different sizes would be great.

    Danger Room

I'd love to see something like this too. Just add a team size slider when using test mode for AE missions. That way not only can you fight giant mobs of enemies solo, but you can also test things out that otherwise wouldn't show up due to you only being a team of 1. There were some problems with my arc originally that I didn't catch due to the fact that they didn't show up until I was on a larger team.
  24. This is an awesome idea. I'd love to see something like this implemented.
  25. Congrats. I figured out a couple months ago that I'll never join the billionaire's club. I always spend my money too soon. I'm positive I'd have several billion if I cashed in all my stuff on all my toons, but I'll never have that much on hand.
