Danger Room

Being able to fill up a room with several large mobs is what Im suggesting. It would be similar to AE, instead, you can adjust the mob size to your liking.

Why a danger room? Well, I often find myself respec'ing into a new build and/or upgrading myself with a few neat IO sets. Afterwards, Im always itching to test my new self out. Only problem is, I just want to test my build, I dont want to have to go through the hassle of building a large team and feeling the responsiblity of having to run more than one mission. And even then, everyone is contributing to the fight in the missions so I never really get a fill for how much stronger I've become.

Another reason is for practice reasons. Maybe Im a bit rusty after taking a few months off from the game and want to brush up on my gameplay skills. One final reason is simply due to the fun factor. I find myself enjoying the game most when Im in the middle of a large mob with my tank or scrapper just making sure all the baddies fall before I do.

Of course the danger room would be intended for testing/practice purposes only so xp wouldn't be given whilst using. Was thinking that SG bases could be given their own personal danger room as well, as well as some built around Paragon City.

So what do you all think? Could you see yourself using the Danger Room?

If you just use the AE testing feature, you don't get xp, right? I think that the AE pretty much fills the need for a danger room, though I wish at some point we could design our own areas and levels, which would kind of complete the work.

It would make more sense to give us a Mission Architect Terminal. That way we could create custom "training" missions.

Yeah, I understand that AE gives us a testing feature, but unless you find a couple people to "fill" for you, than the mobs will still be 2-3 in size. The main goal of the danger room would be to give us large mobs that we can tackle ourselves without having to form teams.

Think of a scrapper tackling a mobs in Crey's Folly. Those mobs are huge, but they're a good test to see how much the player can endure without the aid of others.

Raise the difficulty level so larger mobs spawn.

So, 3-4 instead of 2-3?

I think we're talking 16 man mobs.

Even without XP, it'd be nice to melt some piles without having to work to generate them.

Put yourself on Invince, and go do someone *else's* MA stuff? That way, at least, you'll be surprised?

So you want to be able to make easy farms. Sorry, You'll just have to make do with what you can make with the MA.

Oh man can you imagine a team size slider in MA test mode. People could solo melt faces when they wanted to and not bother anyone.

This is about a crazy challenge with giant mobs and NO exp. You know for those of us that 3-4 guys are nothing.(I'm looking at you Brutes and scrappers)

The OP said right in the main suggestion that it would be fine with no exp. This is challenge purposes not not farm purposes. How would you go about farming a mission when no rewards are given?

I can't wait to see people in this forum demanding those missions give rewards.

Learn to read Lucky. I wasn't responding to the OP. I was responding to DoktorMechaniker

He and I were talking about using the MA in bases for a danger room. Also if you READ what the Doktor said, you will see that he didn't say anything about no rewards being given, he said Even without XP. XP is only one reward you get from the MA. There's also Influence, Prestige, and Tickets. He also said, " it'd be nice to melt some piles without having to work to generate them. "

That is a recipe for an exploit, and we all saw the results of what happens when the risk vs reward is out of whack. Or have you forgotten the Rikti Comm Officer fiasco and the meow farms that the GMs are dropping the hammer on.

Now if the good Doktor made a misstatement, and he really meant to say without any rewards, then he can come back and make that clarification.

Next time you decide to jump into a conversation with your guns a blazin, take the time to make sure you know who is talking who.

I'll say it: I would love this feature with no rewards of any kind. Just the ability for me to test my build against 8 man spawns 100% solo without jumping through hoops would be awesome. It would be one giant scrappergasm.

Without rewards I think it could be a great tool to practice using any given AT. Combine it with Arena features and you'd be able to practice PvP as well. Marketed as a danger room, it could even attract new blood to the PvP community.

I'd love to see something like this too. Just add a team size slider when using test mode for AE missions. That way not only can you fight giant mobs of enemies solo, but you can also test things out that otherwise wouldn't show up due to you only being a team of 1. There were some problems with my arc originally that I didn't catch due to the fact that they didn't show up until I was on a larger team.

Maybe you should learn to read, right from Doktor in the quote you used He said "Even without exp it would be nice to melt some mobs"

So ya learn to read and don't tell me to cause I read everything just fine.

This is EXACTLY what is meant by my suggestion. In other words, introduce a "Challenge Mode" to CoX. No xp, no drops and no prestige. Only thing I can see be given with this is a badge. Something along the lines of...

No, I'm sorry Lucky, all you've done is demonstrate that you know how to click on the quote button. However, you have confirmed that reading comprehension isn't your strong point. Even without XP does not include Influence, Prestige, or tickets. All of those are things you can earn while using the MA.

You also seem to be unaware that we currently have the ability in game to turn off experience whenever we want. All you have to do to turn off experience is click on Menu, then Options, then under the General tab scroll down to Miscellaneous, and there second from the bottom you will find Disable Earning XP and you will be able to choose Earn XP or No XP.

Once you have selected the No XP option and return to playing the game you will see that you still earn rewards. Influence/Infamy, Prestige, Merits, Tickets, Inspirations, Salvage, Recipes, and enhancements all continue to be earned.

Yeah, without rewards of any kind that's a very useful training tool.

Now Lucky, in this post I'm addressing the OP directly.

Was brainstorming a bit more and while in the Danger Room, testing your build, you can apply a specific buff to yourself. Any buff in the game: Adrenaline Boost, Speed Boost, Fortitude, RAs, etc...

It'd be more of a "Hmm, I wonder how much more effective I'd be with this buff."
