  1. Yeah, a million a run is pretty cheap. Right before AE came out when lib farms were the best PL'ing you could get redside, I charged 10 mil/run and had people lining up to pay it. Heck, I got 30 million once for a run on 2xp weekend. If people are dumb enough to pay it, why shouldn't I cash in?

I'm curious what you think that upper threshold should be? I left for almost three years and came back.

Then again, I've since deleted all the characters I played way back then, since things changed a lot and they weren't as much fun anymore, so you might be on to something.
  4. I finally took it on one of my characters to see what it's like. I didn't like it, and I doubt I'll take it again.
  5. Generally, typed defense is considered weaker than positional defense, since most of the sets offering typed defense have holes to psi and toxic. You can defiinitely still make a playable EA character though, it's just not going to be quite as tough as a SR or SD character would be.
  6. I consider most of my characters 'comfortable' when they can afford to be frankenslotted, so around 20-30 million. I don't really consider any of my characters 'Rich'. I tend to not have a lot of liquid assets ever, because I spend them on something shiny before they can ever add up. I think the most I've ever had liquid on a single character was about half a billion. I'd say rich is a billion in my case then. I'll let you know if I ever get there.

    SuperDuo

My wife and I are looking to start a duo of characters that can take on extremely tough challenges and walk away unscathed. We'd like to be able to duo missions spawned for 8 as early as possible and handle pretty much anything the game throws at us. Anyone have suggestions on what could do this?
  8. I really don't see how this relates at all to superheroes/comic books. /unsigned.
  9. This set sounds grossly overpowered. It also kind of steps on controller, dominator, and especially mastermind's toes. Right now they're the only ones that have pets (well, for the most part anyway) and it's part of what makes them unique.
  10. Fire/Mental is a great combo. You'll have gobs of AoE damage and some nice miscellaneous tools as well. If you want even more AoE go fire/mental/elec.
  11. I tend to lead large PuG teams pretty much every time I'm playing, and I rarely have any problems with people who do knockback. Occasionally I'll need to politely ask someone to start using it a little more tactically. Even more rarely I'll kick someone off the team over it because they won't listen (like the stormie the other night who liked running into the middle of every group first with hurricane on because 'it breaks up the alpha strike'). But for the most part, it really isn't a big deal. My only hard and fast rule with knockback is that if I'm tanking, and you knock it away from me, it's yours to deal with. Most energy blasters have no problems with that rule whatsoever.

As with any other Rikti Archetype/Costume Piece thread, I support this 100%. They've been in the game long enough to warrant an archetype anyways. I'm tired of just fighting them, I'm ready to be them... For real anyways. My main blue sider is RP'd as a Traditionalist Rikti, and I would instantly remake him without a second thought if such an archetype was added.

    Again: /Signed.
Okay, you could be right on that.

I'm all for the idea, but I'd rather it was just available to everyone instead of having to be unlocked. I'm not a big fan of unlockable anything.
  13. I tend to use the two thumb buttons on my mouse for targetnear and targetnext. That's always done a good enough job for me. I don't mind keeping a hand on my mouse though. In fact I prefer it, because I'm constantly adjusting the camera angle so I can get the best angle on what's going on

Um, what word censor? I don't see anything being censored.
  15. I will never understand the bizarre fascination some people have with women dressed up and acting like cats.
  16. Haven't the devs said they're not going to be doing any more unlockable archetypes?
  17. I can't say I particularly want it (forcefields bore the crap out of me, and I don't play a lot of villains), but I certainly have nothing against it. I want ALL the sets proliferated to ALL the ATs for which they make sense, and sooner rather than later.
  18. More things I'd like to see:

Customization of pool powers that includes a 'no effects' option. The customization part is already pretty much confirmed.
Weapon customization of elemental sets (fire swords, ice sword, stone hammers, etc.)
Sound customization (as in changing the sound that each power makes when it animates). I don't see this one ever happening though.
Animation customization (i.e. fire blasts that come from a magic wand, energy blasts that come from your eyes, etc.) Not sure this one will happen either.
  19. I've only taken 1 character with acrobatics, so I wouldn't really care either way. I'd definitely get behind the 'no effects for power pools' idea though.
  20. I play on Freedom and have no problems getting good names without resorting to weird punctuation, letter substitution, odd spacing, numbers, or any other tricks. I'll sometimes run through 5-6 choices before I find an open one that I like, but never anywhere near 50. I tend to use a thesaurus to help me out when I'm having trouble.
  21. In 99% of the situations out there, a fire/kin is going to run rampant over anything else in the game. They're the gold standard of farming for a reason.

I'm looking to try something I haven't done yet, tackle an AV solo. I'm all about concept (going for the Samurai concept) and I want to try Dual Blades...something that seems to escape me for some reason. I was thinking of pairing it with WP. So I have a couple of questions for those who have some experience with both this combo and with soloing an AV.

1.) I like running a Tank. I like the survivability of a Tank. Can a DB Tank solo an AV, or would a Scrapper be MUCH better at it? Would I have more fun leveling a Scrapper up to 50 to get to the point where I can solo the AV? I have very little experience with Scrappers (only have 2 that got up to lvl 35 so far).

2.) If the answer to #1 is a Scrapper, can WP survive soloing an AV? Or is there a better secondary for the job? I've seen the Shred Monkey vids (which are awesome btw), so I know the SR would be a good choice as well...it's just getting to the 40's that would be a PITA!

3.) I'm looking to spend no more than a couple hundred million on this build if at all possible
I don't think you're going to be able to get away with all of your requirements and still be able to solo AVs. First off, it's going to be much easier to solo AVs with a scrapper (or brute) than a tank. With the set bonuses that are available to you, it's easier to boost survivability than damage.

Past that point, you're either going to have to throw your concept or your budget out the window. You could definitely solo AVs if you wanted on a db/wp scrapper, but you're not going to be able to do it for a couple hundred million. On the flip side, you could probably (I haven't checked prices lately on what you'd need) make a fire/sr scrapper that could solo AVs for around the budget you specified.
  23. Okay, this is an IO build for the same character, slotting for recharge and positional defenses to help flesh out both your offensive and defensive potential. You could certainly optimize it more heavily, but this is a decent build for IO sets.

  25. I played around with your build a little bit and made a few improvements. You had a couple powers overslotted (most notably RttC and Health), and a few other powers weren't slotted to make the best use of them (Mind over Body, Tough, RttC). Doing so cost you a few set bonuses (mostly small regen and +HP bonuses). To toughen you up a bit I added weave and Strength of Will to your build, and this should more than make up for the lost regen and HP bonuses). This came at the cost of swift and superspeed. If you really decide you have to have superspeed, I'd drop Strength of Will for it and keep weave. However, if you plan on playing this guy mostly at high level in Grandville, SS is mostly worthless there anyway, so you're not losing a lot. Also, if you have the martial arts pack then Ninja run + hurdle makes a pretty good travel power. I was also able to get you an additional 8% or so global recharge, since this build can slot an additional LotG unique and I swapped your devastation set in focus for a decimation set.
