We need in the following order (this is my opinion):
1. More Golden Age/Silver Age Tights options, including patterns that are asymmetrrical, expanding robot arms, changing our body models to include asymmetrics, or missing limbs entirely, more classic Golden Age style capes such, examples include Doctor Strange, whose capes are almost robes. We're almost there with the Arcane Cape from the magic pack but it doesn't wrap around the front at all when at rest. In short more basics.
2. More internal glow parts such as the Fire & Ice. Including simply granting us a pair of tights to use as a base that do the glow, but the secondary color does not. This would allow for DOZENS of costume ideas people have had to reach maturity having to do with radiation, and internal power out of control. (and it's dead simple)
3. The ability to change the colors on on Tietary powers, such as travel powers, the Fighting Pool, etc. This has been asked for, for a VERY Long time, and the incarnate system proves the tech exists and can be implemented. I love Superspeed, but cannot stand the glowing effect it causes... Alternate animations would be appreciated for Super Speed and Teleport as well. (Also, as a sidenote: Teleport needs a longer hover time)
4. I find the options to represent the military in the game sorely lacking, with a simple camo pattern more fit for a hunter then a solider, and some "flak" jackets. We need an update to the real world military tech. ACUs (Army Combat Uniforms), with the Patrol Cap, the ACH (Army Combat Helmet) with and without a night vision set mounted on it, and actual vests based on the ones used currently not the ones used in Vietnam...
5. Implement a revamp of the costume system allowing for combos previously unavailable, such as two auras (Dr. Strange again), hulkingly huge arms on a spindly body(Hulkling), stretched and outsized hands(Mr. Fantasitic/Plasticman).
6. Middle Age armor, revamped basic sword (the barbarian sword is styled diffrently but is so much better looking it has become the default for many, the "default" sword needs a happy happy)
7. Quivers and sheaths. They don't have to be model accurate to which sword we're using, just that they put the weapon on our back/hip when we aren't using it... Quivers are even simplier as that would be a simple bottomless backpack of arrows... no fuss no muss...
8. Fly effected backpack... We are still wanting the backpack rocket pack that unfolds wings and activates a rocket at the base when we hit fly... the wings need to be static to the side when in flight and fold in behind the character or internal tot eh pack when at rest...
9. A headset mike, the "FBI earpiece" and a bluetooth as head details. -
I will be stopping at D&B tommorrow to confirm the dates, I am confirming for 10 people but that should get us enough room if more show up. I hope to see you all..
EDIT: Planning for the 18th of February, (Saturday) at the D&B at Arundel Mills Mall near Baltimore MD. I can post directions if anyone needs it. -
so I wonder if Flambeaux isn't based on Sister Flame, at least a little bit. Fire/Fire blaster, acts VERY flighty, and speaks kinda like a kid honestly.
If it is a lil dev nod to our fiery heroine... then kudos devs... -
No, and here's why...
-CoH has been granted a major graphics update twice successfully.
-CoH has an active joyous playerbase that would be SPLIT if they added a sequel and keep the old game running too. This would of course mean that if they shut down CoH it would be a disaster in the PR department as EVERYONE would complain about they're 50s being lost.
-CoH has graphics equivalent to newer mmos that are coming out. I honestly believe we have BETTER graphics then the other two Superhero MMOs that are there, and I see 1 thing that is in everyday graphics on that newest game everyone is playing, the one that has to do with a galaxy long long ago... animated hair... everything else from animations to the Look is inferior to City in my opinion.
Yes the engine has been changed significantly since release, and to my understanding NCsoft owns CoH lock stock and barrell now, (thank goodness for that... other studios have a really odd management style I just can't stand) so I doubt a new engine would be needed, however CoH is going stronger everyday, and a sequel sends the wrong message to continue that growth. -
Enjoyed all your arcs, sorry you got griefed

If it really is a "people might make "pimps" issue" then man up, and police your servers...
Find the offensive toons, by playing the game, and watching for people with the offensive toons ACTING OFFENSIVELY and nerfbat them with the Generi-bat under the "don't be offensive" clause of the EULA.
The tools are all there. Don't limit other players creativity because one guy or gal might use those same tools to be an idiot. You didn't take options out during the great lawsuit debacle and you just stood up and started policing the population and asking us to police ourselves, do it again!
Give us the tools we ask for, no questions asked and let us have the game with the most toys. If it comes down to "is this sexist" question in development" then make two versions one that is questionable, one that is clearly not, and release both. We suddenly have more toys, and you have something to point those decrying your sexist decisions too...
"OOO it's sexist to have female Thugs" then YOU don't have to use them, use the male ones/Gun Nuns -
I have also heard tell that if the Winter Lord is up, a GM cannot spawn in that area till he's down, so it could be the Winter Event messing it up too...
This was an issues with someone hunting the GMs heroside on Exalted recently...

That's a very, interesting idea, considering I've had a character since I started playing who was Statesman's fallen sidekick...
color me interested... -
Forum Troll Forum Troll what color may they be, always offense, always screaming at me...
Misquoting my argument, gotta prove me wrong, can't let any logic pass by they're loud screaming song!
forum troll forum troll scream scream scream...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
In short, you all stopped making valid points 2 pages ago. You have been screaming the same argument echoing each other for 2 pages. When your ready to address the fact that everyone has a base, WITH A CRAFTING TABLE, (invalidating the crafting table argument), everyone has access to stores in Pocket D, and personal storage vaults, easy access to zones with Black Market or Wentworths... AND Pocket D doesn't have major Zone Events, or Task Forces in the zone to interfere with (even if it is 1% of the time, a percentage you CAME UP WITH cause I highly doubt you have access to the studio's data mining software...).
All in all, so long as 1 ONE person has a base with a craft table, you have access to it, and boom your SOLE valid argument is moot.
Now, as for this, misquoting and taking people out of context stuff... Stop it.
Your doing it on purpose, and it does nothing but make you look argumentative and juvenile. I would expect this behavior out of kids, or politicians, not Gamers, we are a community, let's treat each other like it! -
Pocket D, a cross faction zone with easy access back to crafting and selling zones on either side, simply makes more sense to me, then choking the walking area around Lady Grey and stopping people from running LGTF, MSR's and even the new task forces for Tin Mage and Apex Task forces get ran less because of the crowd in RWZ spamming the broadcast with LFM or LFG messages regarding Incarnate Trials.
By forming the Incarnate trials in the much more spacious Pocket D, you avoid the choke problems in the hall there, you avoid distracting from existing content, and you make for a better environment for the game in general.
It isn't a BIG deal, but it is a small quality of life improvement we as the players can give to each other! Let's get together on this and make it happen. No one should ever have to leave the RWZ for another instance to do the things in RWZ that it was intended for, like mothership raids, and task forces based there, and this has happened due to iTrials hanger ons refusing to head out to a different instance when a MSR was scheduled for example. It isn't a matter of "I was here first" it is a matter of the RWZ being designed for the things in RWZ, and not as an impromptu waiting gallery for you...
ESPECIALLY if you insist on standing RIGHT in the hallway... instead of say anywhere else in the zone. You can't stand in the briefing room off to the side there, while you wait, so people can pass without having to hop around you.
Sometimes, especially with certain masterminds, I think it is fun for them to try and choke the hall as much as possible. It is REALLY frustrating when I have a timed mission in the RWZ and I die, and have to run through the gamut of players waiting on iTrial attendees just to get back toward my mission...
As it stands there isn't a standard zone for iTrials, until they unite the Oroborous into a co-op zone I doubt there will be such a zone, BUT, right now, Pocket D, with it's much vaster floor space, equates out to a better venue in my opinion as you are not, outside of holiday events, stepping on anyone's toes by being there...

Avatea,
You have been a force of Peace and Justice, and saying that in a superhero MMO Community is something. I hope the future holds bright for you, however you will be sincerely missed here, as no one can replace your cheerful disposition, and ability to get Zwil back on track in the Ustream.
Pull yourself together, take a deep breath, and know that the next adventure is just around the corner. Good luck in that adventure...

I will be looking into getting a semi-private area reserved for us Saturday the 18th of February. I am going to go ahead and ask for this day off from work as well, take a leave/pass day if I need too.
I hope this day works for everyone, and thus far it seems to be an ok date, (past the mid point, on a Saturday, etc etc...) and I am taking Quasadu's advice, This is when it is, I will announce times asap...
Hope to hear confirms from you soon, I will begin advertising to the other servers en-masse when I have the confirmation from D&B.

I think we need a few things added to the game that need support or more support in the game.
In order of Need
50's Retro Scifi
As detailed in a few other threads now.
Superhero Pack,
As detailed above, new mask support, more silver/golden age capes, updated tight designs, Super Hero Secret Identities, Identity Change Emotes, New enemy groups this could be an entire issue honestly,
Pulp Novels
As in Doc Savage, the Shadow, Green Hornet, Dick Tracy... these are classics of the genre... A Pulp era rocketeer inspired jetpack back piece would be a must in this set.
Super Spies
James Bond, Jason Bourne, and many others...
Horror Comics
The Crypt Keeper, Horror Tales and many others are a mainstay of Golden Age comics, these even spawned some mainstream heroes that are in action today.
Cosmic Defenders
Silver Surfer, Doctor Strange, Adam Warlock
Sword and Sorcery
Dungeons and Dragons, Lord of the Rings,
This would need a surcoat, or tabard over the top of armor as a new back option.. -
Quote:We could do a weekend thing, dinner at a restaurant to intro everyone then the movie or D&B the next day?if its on the weekend i may or may not be able to make it since i work on the weekends, depending on my school schedule i may be able to do monday or friday since i wont have classes on either day
What do you think folks? Any ideas on what we could do to up the participation? -
Taking from Johnny Butane's list and filled in with my feedback:
Locations:
-Space/the Moon: add more of Dillo's species making a weapon to fight the Battalion
-Other planets: PBers have needed this for they're stories for years, we have the technology...
-Under sea bases: interesting concept, break the "wall point" and kill everything in the room, but you have only 60 seconds to get to the airlock yourself or you drown... works for Space and Atlantis too
-Atlantis: What lies beneath...
-Abandoned carnival/amusement park: I have to argue WE HAVE THIS Already, however I know where your coming from. We need a Carnies version that is more Strongmen and less illusionist...
-Dinosaur island:
Abilities/systems:
-Stretching/morphing limbs: SM/LE Blaster Set
-Grappling hooks/swinging: seems it could be done with a modification to the Ninja Run tech, toggling it to "always on" and adding tech similar to flight for the pathing...
-Environmental destruction and interaction: Especially in instances... I want my knockback to matter, send the enemy flying into the next room, through the wall type stuff...
-Super speed feats (aside from just running fast and useless Flurry/Whirlwind. I feel this can stand on its own as a power set) YES THIS
-Totemic animal powers: Got nothing to add
-Insect control: Swarm tech is already a hamidon enemy, no reason not to give us giant ants and scorpions to go with it...
-Animal control: Wolf Pack!
-Secret identities: Yes yes yes please yes... ::laughs:: we need a REAL Secret identity system, Day Jobs was great, but the ability to switch out to another persona entirely is what folks were expecting.
-Chest and eye blasts for ranged power sets, not just hand blasts. YES YES AGAIN Please Devs, it's Christmas time... I would love to be able to map my blasts to all coming from the eyes, or all coming from a similar point rather then the seemingly arbitrary Marvel standings...
-Hoverboards inspired by the modern comic era. Meh... I can think of like, two, Cloud 9
(who generates a cloud to stand on...), and um, yea nevermind I can only think of that one...
NPC/enemy groups:
((ADDING TOO THIS))
-Animals: Gang's usually employ guard dogs...
-Talking apes: DC...
-Giant bugs: O yea... 50's all over...
-Dinosaurs: awesomeness...
Costume bits and emotes:
-Real eye masks, not painted on. Agreed
-Symbol options on belt buckles, backs, and capes, not just on chests.
-More bracelets, arm bands. Double Agreed, we've needed this for years!
-More "floaty bit auras", like crystal shards, or metallic spheres, or sea-horses, or cubes, floating around your character.
-Working holsters, quivers, sheaths (hip, thigh, boot). I have some imagination skills, but being able to sling a sword on the back, would help the illusion of where it comes from.
-Sleeker, more sophisticated power armor. Not sure I get this...
-Linked costume emotes with animated transitions (hoods pulled back, helmets removed/opened, power armor assembled over body). I would love to be able to do this,
-Customizable "Mood" stances to replace default standing idle stances, more reflective of your character's personality (heroic, flirty, arrogant, relaxed, studious). Yes please, give us some choice on our idle animations. -
MM, I had never dealt with the D&Bers before, just the theater... but if you guys have run something from the D&Bs before and it worked out, then that might be the way to go, even if it is an Adult Chuck E Cheese...
-
The mall has several places to eat at we could easily reserve a group table for once we find out how many... and it does have a Dave and Busters, but frankly the real draw would be the theater's group program. They allow you to rent out a theater for a group and show any movie in they're digital library for your group in the time slot.
I am proposing February time frame to give us the planning time. We would have it as a day long event on a weekend for the students out there is the current plan I had in mind.
So we could potentially watch Dark Knight Rises, and Captain America in a single sitting for example, and have dinner at either the food court, or one of the restaurants... -
Meet and Greet on the 18th of February:
-Main event! We are meeting at Dave and Busters in Arundel Mills Mall at 6PM EST
- Cost at Dave and Busters is 18.50 a head.
-We have been blessed with the offer of a sketch done by one of our guests as a door prize.
- A drawing will be held for a Razer Naga mouse, as a second door prize.
- Still working on the "Task Force" Scavenger hunt.
-Preparty for those who can't make the 6PM at 3PM meeting at Starbucks in Arundel Mills
-Look for the people in the CoH shirts -
I read them every time a new one is posted about in announcements...
I usually enjoy the hell out of them too... you guys are great writers in general and seeing what you do often with just the game engine is impressive.
Thanks, keep it up!

Quote:I have to agree, and while I personally like the more, red light, costume pieces, I think having some rough rider costumes for the females would be in order. We are missing holsters... a good cowboy hat... the tin star for the jacket... Lots of things that are gunslinger cliche, and the girls are all ginslingers instead of gunslingers at best...Exception: (corsets + short skirts + high boots) + wild west setting = prostitutes.

Group Name: Obsidian Syndicate
Group Theme: A friendly, but disciplined group, made up around a core of players from Freedom and Virtue...
Website (if applicable): http://theobsidiansyndicate.guildlaunch.com/
Group Focus (rp/pvp/etc.): Having Fun, PVE
Contact Info: @Obsidian Light, @Liberties,
Description: We are a group of players located across 3 servers on the MMO City of Heroes,
Other information: Located on Freedom, Virtue and Exalted, we have a fully functional base, are consistently in the top 30 of Exalted SG, prestige wise... and are starting up a schedule of regular team events, such as Task Forces, and I-Trials. We were founded on Day 1 of Exalted's Launch, Sept. 14, 2011, and have worked for all our prestige, landing us at 20th currently on the server.
We are not a Farming SG
and just so there is no confusion, PLEASE do note, Project Obsidian Operations are not associated with us in any way. -
well no one else has said it yet,
ZOMG, PAY TO WIN DOOOOOOOOOM
But seriously, pay for LotG and Kinetic Combats might be either the most brilliant idea ever, or the most diabolically evil, brilliant idea ever... We ALL use LotG, ever single one of us that has a defense build, even if it's just maneuvers. Kinetic combat, is a major component both in Stone Tanks, and in almost EVERY melee build because of the 3.75% defense...
I will be looking into this, jsut becuase I want to see how it works out for a Taskforce specific build (the ability to scale up and down on a LotG is sweeeet), but I am not sure it is a precedent we want, especially since LotG are basically the nonpurple purple... -
THANKS!
This looks great. I am going to work on getting this all put togther asap...!
-
what I am wanting to do is maintain basic mobility, and still have a toon capable of surviving like a stone tank does. I would prefer not to have to have teleport, but if that is what happens, then I will deal.
The goal is survivability with a usable version of Street Justice as well. That means I need enough of the powers to keep my combo levels up.
I put the Fighting pool in more out of habit then anything, if it isn't needed it can be removed.
What I did when making this was try to modify my existing SJ 50, SJ/Inv to the new armor set for build purposes. As you can see what I came up with has WAY to low of recharge, only with hasten up is Granite Armor even playable, and even then the recharge might be too low for SJ
I need help making this work at all at this point... I love the design and concept of the toon, but can't seem to make this build work in mids.
As it stands I know next to nothing about Stone Armor... So I would like it if you could walk me through so I can learn...
Thanks for any help you can provide.
