Where is Caleb?

I have contacted support on this issue and they've been no help whatsoever. They have basically recited what is in the wiki regarding how to make Caleb appear. I have read the page in the wiki a number of times.

Here's what I'm doing:
I go to Nerva, go to Thorn Isle, wait until daytime and begin killing daemons. I kill them all "day" long. There's no telling how many I've killed (I don't count). The sun sets in Nerva, the zone event message pops up in my chat box that "The Demon Caleb has been spotted..." I've left some nerva daemons alive so that I can follow them to Caleb. But guess what, the daemons don't go anywhere. They just sit there, floating around. Regardless, when I have gotten that message after killing hundreds of nerva daemons, I have put on my jet pack and fly high above thorn isle. I search all over thorn isle (in the air of course as I know he spawns high above the island). I search all (in-game) night long all over thorn isle. Caleb does not really appear after I get the zone event message. I have tried it and gotten the zone event message on five separate occasions (with days or weeks in between because it's frustrating doing this only to find nothing) and I'm about to give up. I guess I'm just not meant to get that badge because there is something wrong.

I wish I was making this up, but it's frustrating when you see the zone event message, then hunt all over the place above thorn isle only to find nothing, and then the sun rise again without ever having seen a glimpse of Caleb.

Am I doing something wrong or is something wrong with the game?

Please Help! I want this badge so I can finally go back Heroside and work on the rest of the badges.

AFAIK, the ghosts don't go after Caleb.

Also, he appears up at the top of the zone and is relatively hard to see.
This is something that's best to have a team for. Not necessarily to kill Caleb. But to actually find him.

Everyone I have talked to has a slightly different method for doing it, that is '100% works every time man!!' Then, when you ask them to do it, shock horror, it NEVER works. I have seen him 3 times in 5 years, all accidently findings. The times I have tried to spawn him, never works.

If the GMs are quoting wiki at you (as they LOVE to do) they are just as clueless. It is funny when Ghost of Scrap can spawn back to back, all day long, yet others just never show.

Just remembered...this reminds me of the Archnos Flier GM, that was 'meant' to spawn in GV. Yet it never did. And yet, GMs would still claim you just had to wait for it. Then, someone finally realised it was broken, and fixed it. Would not shock me if Caleb was the same way.

He's been tricky for as long as I can remember. There is a group that supposedly follows him around that may help you spot him, but it won't come from the ones you've been fighting, it's the entourage part of his spawn.

And although he may be meant to fly around above the island, that hasn't always been the case. You really do want some people with you to cover more area.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

Sorry, but you are dead wrong, or at the least misguided. Each and every time I have gone about spawning and finding and (almost all of the time) taking him down; I have been successful. It's not hard to spawn him, but it can be a stone cold ..... to find him and keep track of him. I use the standard Hunt macro and feel it is necessary because of how and where he usually spawns and how easy he is to lose. In fact, if I hear someone talking about hunting him I will come and join the hunt to ensure success.

Just last month we had a rotating team that spawned and hunted him 3 or 4 times in a row one day. He's not hard to spawn, but a bear to find. If you need a hand and I have a toon that can help on your Server; I would be willing to help.

There might be the slight possibility of a bug, but don't forget that Caleb is a ghost and thus has stealth. You can only see him if you get rather close to him, and he moves quite fast. I recommend forming a team for the search, and it helps if you have some perception powers like Focused Accurarcy available. Finally, throw in yellows as if there was no tomorrow.

I have also heard tell that if the Winter Lord is up, a GM cannot spawn in that area till he's down, so it could be the Winter Event messing it up too...

This was an issues with someone hunting the GMs heroside on Exalted recently...

I would love it if you would come with me and help. I've been hunting on exalted and besides my husband I don't have many in game friends. This is why I've been hunting solo. I hate to bother people I dont know. The one time I did try to get a team together I only managed one person besides the husband and we still never found him. My global is Khani and I'm on almost every day. Thanks again.

To support what's being said, this is hard to do, but can be done, took me 3 attempts, but was successful on the third.

First off, get a full team, makes life a LOT easier.

When you spawn him (that bit is easy), fly around up high above the island, spam the crap out of the Next Target button or use the target macro mentioned earlier, and then STICK WITH HIM!!

Once he gets too far away, you can lose him very easily then it's a nightmare to find again. Once you have him, scream on team you have him then attack as soon as you're all there.

It takes a bit of time, effort and good teamwork, but it can be done, there's over a 1000 people with it registered at the City Info Terminal, so it clearly can be done

If you're on a server I can help with, gimme a shout when you see it.

On the one hand, I like that he can be hard to find as it presents a bit of a challenge. On the other hand, I wish it was a bit less down to blind luck whether you can find him or not. I'd estimate I'm successful on one in three Caleb hunts.

Spawning Caleb has worked fine every time I've been involved with a team doing it. I guess he might get bugged sometimes but, more likely, anyone who says otherwise just failed to find him.

The spectral demons already spawned DO NOT fly to join him. He appears with additional demons who follow him around. He appears way up in the air, they starts wandering in random directions. Unlike, say, Adamastor who just stands in one spot, this guy can end up practically anywhere in the zone. And, the part that messes people up and makes me wonder why the devs did this - HE HAS STEALTH! You either need to get really close to him or have enhanced perception to find him.

Caleb is a player-triggered GM, so he should spawn just fine. It's only timer-triggered GMs (and timer-triggered zone events) that don't spawn when a Winter Lord is around.

A bit of correction, here. When he first spawns high above Thorn Isle, he circles above the island, more or less above the beach and outer cliffs that surround it. He's done this in a counter-clockwise direction every time I've been the one to spot him. I've never seen him "practically anywhere in the zone" even when someone else has aggroed him, and have rarely seen him farther than Primeva (the adjacent island) from his original starting point.

As mentioned, a perception-boosting power or a tray of yellows can cut through the stealth. It's also handy having a team mate with a -fly power, to get him "down to earth", so to speak.

Have deliberately spawned him for badge hunters several times in the past on Justice, not so much lately.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

As many people have posted, spawning Caleb is easy; it's finding him (and keeping him in place while you pound him) that's hard.

You're spawning Caleb correctly. Once spawned, start looking around Thorn Isle first, because he normally spawns there.

You have mentioned that you normally fly high so you can spot him, but he's never visible. Please bear in mind it's fairly easy to fly too high when looking for him. His Stealth requires you to fly fairly close to ground; I normally don't get much higher than 15-20 feet off the ground when looking for him. Having a team hunting him is the single best way to find him, bar none.

When scouting for Caleb after he spawns, look for a large cluster of spectral terrors/ghosts. Caleb is usually going to be in the center of them, and sometimes you have to almost run into him before he becomes visible. When you see a big cluster of ghosties, get close and check it out but be prepared for him to pounce on you. As others have pointed out, having some kind of perception boost can be very helpful here, like Focused Accuracy.

Once you find Caleb, you really want a team to take him, preferably with characters who can mez/hold/immob him. To put it simply, Caleb turns tail and runs from danger like no other giant monster. Think of the way Lady Jane and Fusionette seek out the nearest enemies and charge them to a ridiculous degree. Now reverse that, and you have how aggressively Caleb tries to run away. As far as beating him, he's really not that hard as long as you can keep him in place or have a mobile team that can fight him in the air as he runs. Using -fly powers like Web Grenade lets the melee types join in as well.
