  1. So I'm looking to get into Controllers, my normal area of expertise is that of Brutes. Needless to say this is quite a shift. I chose Ice/Time because it looked awesome. Slowing them down to nothing sounded like fun. I whipped up a build that I -think- is decent... I am softcapped to Smashing and Lethal and boasting 75% global recharge before Hasten kicks in. I am happy with all that, but I want to make sure I'm getting the most out of my powers. I couldn't help but feeling like I was set-muling everything to reach the softcap with as much recharge as possible. Can any of you experts take a look and help me out?

    Much appreciated!

  2. I'll second Electric Armor. It's not just highly resistant to endurance drain but also has a lot of tools with which to recover Endurance. Power Sink and Energize will keep you happy and blue for a very long time. It's also freaking sturdy once you build up its S/L defense. I took Broadsword and my Electric Armor guy. It's awesome.

WP is pretty cool too. It offers very balanced layers of sturdiness. Its regen won't match that of Regeneration unless you invest very heavily in it or have a bunch of enemies around you at once. Like Electric Armor, add a little S/L defense and WP becomes scary hard to kill.

As for a primary, the sword sets are great for living even longer. Parry and Divine Avalanche will keep you alive and well for longer than most tanks. Super Strength is always a winner, but you probably knew that.
  3. Hmmm, I really don't think you need Energy Mastery. Your endurance should be manageable with Consume and the ever-present blues. I'd switch to Mu, or Pyre if you're a hero and don't wanna switch. You can help your blue bar out by putting in a some Endurance reduction in Burn or Blazing Aura. If you didn't notice, the Obliteration set is hell on Endurance. Only the quad grants end redux, and it's only 18% (if I remember correctly).

I would advise Spiritual or Cardiac for your alpha.

I can see you're spending slots where they probably aren't needed. Zephyr KB protection is nice, but farms don't KB. Here, I've tweaked your build... you can use this as a template. It's not perfect, I was going for 32.5% f/c defense so you could softcap on a small purple but it didn't work out. It looks like it'll be next to useless in the real game, but you asked for a farm build. I'm sure someone here could do a much better job, but hopefully this will give you some ideas

  4. Hello! So this is what I plan on doing with my BS/ElA Brute once he hits 50, which will be soon. What we've got here is 34ish% s/l defense so I can softcap lethal with one Parry or pop a small purple and be slightly over. I put everything else into recharge... but I'm not really happy with the result. I feel like I don't have enough, but I could be wrong. Would any of you people care to point me in a better direction?

Just please note that Fly is for concept, but I am open to different power choices in any other case. Please and thank you

Oh, and money isn't an issue. I'd just like to avoid purples for now.

  5. I am... confused. One of my character slots is being eaten up by "Thalamasaurus"... I have never had a character with this name. They don't have a costume, I can't enter the City...
Clicking yields "Invalid player info" message.

    Here's a screenshot..

Anyone have any idea what this? Slash has it happened to you??

I agree with adding a little DDR, it makes sense. And it'd be effective in preventing defense cascade against -def enemies. Even if your defense rests at 0% (or 2-3 depending on rando IOs or combat jumping or something), you could avoid enemies having a 95% chance to hit you. Or... at least slow down the process of that happening.

Slowed Response can beat Melt Armour's debuff values on targets hit with Time Crawl which is single target and takes time to place, especially if you want to tag more than one target before debuffing. On the other hand Freezing Rain beats both sets of debuff values, has a shorter recharge than either, also does slow and knockdown and is available at 16...

Not overpowered, just has a lot of potential.
Exactly this. New powersets tend to either slide towards uselessness or slide towards overpowered. Comparing it to Willpower in that respect as well if fair, I think. Willpower is a very good set, much like Time, but it isn't grossly overpowered. It's just well-rounded.
  8. Broadsword/Electric Armor Brute.
Got billions of inf saved up. Gonna be epic

And my boyfriend's going with a /Time Mastermind. Not sure on primary yet.
  9. electric_emu

    ??/Ea

Kinetic Melee works well conceptually and visually, and the -dmg combines very nicely with EA's defensive properties. Meaning when you do get hit, it hurts less. You could also give Stone Melee a try. All the knockdown mitigation means enemies attack less, which means you get hit that much less. Just some ideas.
  10. Yeah, so what synergizes well with Electric Armor? I21 opens on Tuesday, so I'm considering Broadsword or Katana. Feel like Parry/Divine Avalanche will pretty much make you invincible. Any thoughts on the other primaries?
  11. Ooh, fun! I have a hard time ranking them specifically;

    A Great Time!
    Brutes, Tankers and Scrappers
-I love damage coupled with durability. Obviously each of these ATs are good at that, but Brutes pull ahead because they have the best of both worlds for 90% of the game's content.

    All In Good Fun.
    Blasters, Corruptors and Defenders
-Kinda the same thing as above but with a different set of strengths. The Corruptor is probs my favorite because of the damage they can deal alongside their support capabilities.

    I'd Rather Avoid...
    Controllers, Dominators and Masterminds
-I don't hate these ATs but I really need to be in the mood to play them to get any enjoyment out of them. I'd say I like Controllers the best of the three, I just can't handle the 'late-bloom' feeling I get when I roll them.

    No. Period.
    Kheldians, SoA, Stalkers
-I thought I'd like Stalkers given their similarity (in powers) to the other melee ATs, but I hate them. A lot. To me, I feel like I'm playing a gimmicky melee Blaster, and I don't even get a nuke. SoA feel -incredibly- concept-locked to me and I can't handle it. Kheldians I can work around but I find playing them to be sheer torture. Shapeshifting shoots my concept in the face and their human-only powers are just bleh.
  12. Freedom's launch must be getting pretty close. I am fully aware they keep saying "by the end of the year", as many point out, but the devs like to look like heroes (get it?) when they launch earlier than expected. It's the same thing airlines do. It also gives them a huge time cushion if anything goes critically wrong with Freedom's launch, which doesn't seem to be the case.
  13. Sure wish these notes were a little bit more specific. I'd like a simplified version of why they're making these changes and not addressing things like icons disappearing and teammates being greyed out when you're on the same map/mission. I have no doubt there is a reason for all these patches, but it'd be great if y'all could fix the little screwups they've caused.
  14. Really, guys? You already postponed DXP now you're interrupting it without giving us a reason? I can only assume it's some sort of emergency, but honestly... Not happy at all. I'd be happy if it was I21... but we all know it's not >.<
  15. Willpower is awesome. It's very "toggle and go", which diminishes redraw. Also, Divine Avalanche couldn't be more amazing with WP. You'll find yourself outliving some tanks and pumping out decent damage. You'll also have more than sufficient endurance thanks to QR. I've played a Broadsword/Willpower Scrapper extensively, and it's nothing short of awesome. I wouldn't imagine Kat/WP would be that different.
  16. First thing I noticed is that you have Stamina in there. It's inherit now! Once you respec you'll get it for free, opening three power choices. Next thing is that your slotting seems super general. It's not a bad thing; the build looks pretty sturdy. However, I suggest aiming for the S/L softcap, 45% def. You'll be amazingly difficult to kill if you can reach it. Sets that can help you reach it include Kinetic Combat and Reactive Armor. Kinetic Combats aren't really cheap, but they're better than purples.

It should be pretty easy to navigate the forums and find a S/L softcap SS/WP build. Seems to be what's in these days.
  17. It's not necessary; WP is pretty sturdy as is. In my opinion, however, WP is the set that gels with the Fighting Pool the best. You can afford the extra toggle without accolades/cardiac/other endurance management and it really ramps up your, well, toughness.

BUT, I totally understand that it's not fun to take. Maybe respec into it? That's what I did on my BS/WP (though mostly because I didn't really know what I was doing back then). All said, it's not a requirement.
  18. I made a DM/Fire Scrapper recently. As said, there are a few runners. Being a Brute would probably fix that... but, Soul Drain + Burn melts enemies so quickly I never have more than one or two (maybe three) runners. It's really not that bad, in my opinion. But I can't really think of anything the Scrapper offers over the Brute.
  19. This build is what I plan on respeccing into, so nothing is set in stone quite yet. As for Incarnate powers, I have t4 Spiritual Core (which I normally use), and t3 Cardiac and Musculature cores (had notices begging to be used =P). For Interface, I've got t3 Diagmetric Core and t2 Reactive Radial (I switch often). Destiny I use t3 Ageless Core. Lore is 5 out of 15 minutes, so I don't really count it, but I use t3 Cimeroran Core.

How do you suggest I squeeze more defense into the build? Electrifying Fences is a start, I suppose. I may have misled you, the softcap would be great... so if it all possible, moar defense!! I just want Fly and can't stand Hasten =P
  20. Helloooo!
Following is a build I cooked up for my SS/WP Brute. You will probably notice that I am NOT softcapped. For those who are too lazy to paste into Mids, I've got 30%~ S/L/E/N and 24% F/C. What you see has about 60 HP/sec regen and almost 2,200 HP before accolades. 55% recharge.

Some advice/input/etc would be greatly appreciated. Reaching the softcap would be nice, but I don't want to compromise the build. So an additional question is how important is the softcap? Does it make up for the HP and recharge I'll probably lose? Or maybe I'm just missing something and this build isn't thought out all that well.

I have a couple of disclaimers before you post:

-I do not like Hasten. Two endurance crashes annoys me.
-Fly is for concept, so it stays.
-Same goes for Mu Mastery, though I am open to picking different powers from the set. Electrifying Fences, maybe?

  21. Is it possible to bind Incarnate abilities? I've run out of spots in my normal tray and get a little annoyed with clicking my Judgment/Destiny/etc powers when they come up. I have tried binding them them with the standard "powexec_name" command but it doesn't seem to work. Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks.
  22. I was hoping someone could help me figure out my lvl 50 IO's and set?

    Control
    Plant Control / Cold Domination
    W/ Psionic Mastery.

    Thank you so much
  23. I just reached level 38 so my next power choice will be from an Ancillary pool. I am a hero, with hero merits, so I will NOT be taking any Patron Powers. Can I get some suggestions for which ancillary pool to dip into? I am pretty torn... Energy Mastery will promise endurance from now until forever. Plus Energy Torrent is a pretty cool opening attack, especially to mitigate the alpha and synergize with Foot Stomp. Pyre Master is pretty cool, I've heard bad things about Melt Armor, but Fireball is always great. Earth Mastery is... eh... but Stalagmites seems pretty cool. And finally there's Arctic Mastery. The -recharge on Ice Storm and Shiver seems cool.

So... thoughts? Am I mistaken on any of the above judgments?

    Thanks!
  24. So I decided to start a Dominator and chose the shiny, new Electric Control as my primary. I'm only level 22 and it has become one of my favorite power sets. That being said, it's time to slot up. I have little experience with control sets (only played one Controller up to 50), but I have realized that electric control is quite adept at draining endurance. Should I slot for that? Or... What?

I have all elec powers thus far except the ST immob. My secondary is energy assault.
  25. Drain Psyche and Psychic Shockwave enticed me into choosing Mental and so far I love it. Redraw is annoying but that would have been a problem with any secondary. Thanks!
