That yet the third remake of the Thing was this close to playing at the theater.
Should I be prepared to be undrwhelmed? -
K'know, I gave the energy storage thing some thought and while not practical on a per home basis. It occurred to me that maybe a geothermal type apparatus could be used to store energy in the form of heat. Instead of tapping a geothermally active area, you would build a huge super insulated vessel and fill it with some sort of material that could store and release heat pretty effciently. When the sun is up and there is an excess of electricity, it would be converted into heat and stored until there was a need for it then the stored heat would be converted back into electricity by heating water that was routed through this thermal battery, converting it to steam and in turn powering some generators.

You haven't hung out with my crew then. Absentmindedly crushing a brick into fine powder would just make them more attractive.

Quote:Thanks for the clarificationHe was mocking another user based on their comments in a different thread in the Archetypes and Powers Discussion forum. In essence, he was sarcastically saying what the aforementioned user would probably say in this thread if he saw it. It was sarcasm, though admittedly easily mistakable since there was nothing to denote it as such except for the jab following that paragraph.

Well I'm calling complete ******** on that one. I've played the same nrg/nrg blapper through every iteration of the AT from the original suicide bomber to the current frankenfury and lack of mez/hold resistance only became an issue in the later game. With the advent of crafted enhancements in conjunction with accolades the mez/hold issue is mitigated a good bit and if its really a problem, a solo player can always fall back on carrying around some break frees and/or lucks just in case.

Quote:Damn and I thought we uh... "arrested" that guy some years ago. Thats the last time I spring for a illudium Q-36 explosive space modulatorThe grainy/blurry image was intentional, but the edit became a bit hard to see. This is what it was before I put it through the distortion filters:
and try to take care of a problem.

Quote:Destro has his own gig, selling weapons to Cobra and banging the Baroness, why would he want to complicate things by taking over Cobra and becoming public enemy #1 ?Another nominee is Destro from the GI Joe series. It's his sheer lack of ambition and laziness that makes me nominate Destro. Destro has been shown to be a better leader than Cobra Commander, but instead of walking up to Cobra Commander, putting a bullet between the eyes, taking over, and showing GI Joe what real terrorism is. He's content to be just follow the guy with a speech impediment. There's a saying "That we are often judged by the company we keep." So if Destro is content on following a guy who has about as much military tactical skill as a fast food chef then what does it say about him.

Bah, the truth needs to be told!
In the ancient days, Turndown Girl and Desperate Guy were really cosmic entities known as anti-matter lass and matter lad each representing the sum total of thier repsective part of creation and in time as it had occurred many times before. Anti-matter lass and matter lad are inexorably drawn towards each other unwittingly taking a part in both the destruction and creation of exsistance.
However like all things that consider themselves "living" anti-matter lass and matter lad dont really want to give up thier "life" even though its been a cosmic cycle relentlessly played out countless times before.
So here we have it in Pocket D where the two are still inexorably drawn toward each other yet having willfully stripped themselves of much if not most of thier memories and power by binding themselves in mortal form. Turndown Girl and Desperate guy play out thier unknown game hoping to stave off the desctuction of the universe for as long as they possibly can. -
Quote:That would be cool, would really love to see my primary toon's business up on a Billboard.I wish you guys would consider community-designed billboards. Not just the one-off contest, but on a regular basis. Let people submit them, put them in a pile, let the community reps and/or devs "vote" (or determine however you guys want) which ones make it in the game that month, and push them out.

Quote:Tru'dat, but by then if I were to have lived for such a long time part of the game would be to amass as much political and financial power as I can while surrounding myself with a web of equally depraved people or maybe by that point I would just decide to let myself expire in prison.A life sentence takes on a whole different meaning when there's really no actual end to your life...
And if I were effectively immortal, I'd just bide my time. At some point some where, the system will fail. -
Quote:Pffft... I admit, I'd really like to live to see the American Tricentennial, past that I dont know what I would do other than earn my badge for most depraved human being to have ever lived a thousand years. I figure a coupla hundred years in and I would have gotten bored with being a nice guy.Old people don't usually complete everything they want to do before age catches up with them. Imagine a point where you have done everything that you can think of and want to do. What is the point of living when you have accomplished everything you have set out to do? 100 years is not enough to accomplish that, but what about 500 years or 1,000 years.
Try living for 100,000 years or even 1,000 years and see if you aren't contemplating to end your life. The people that lead productive lives after 100,000 years are the ones that learn to adjust their thinking for the long term instead of the short term. Thinking about plans that take 1,000 years instead of just 20 years.
It would be a rough ride in any event, just look at what has occured in the past 1000 years or even the past 100 years.
I think one of the things people in the article dont seem to include in thier thinking are natural disasters and the whacky things humans do and how that will effect the quality of life over all those years.
Its quaint to think that as a race well will evolve into some sort of benevolent species of do-gooders over time but I'm more enclined to think dystopian future guys are not far off the mark especially after a few more world wars and huge natural disasters. -
Quote:Yeah, I was wondering about the complex construct stuff myself, but it seems like the constructs aren't bound by normal rules anyway so jets in space might make sense in that regard, also if for some reason the constructs are supposed to operate under normal rules maybe the film maker chose the jets both because it was something Hal was familier with and if he had say whipped up something unfamiliar to the audience they might not have had a good point of reference.Actually its more the actual 'physical' objects I was refering to that carried the bad FX, Helicopter scene the actual helicopter and the lab fight, the lab equipment. The stuff he makes, actually looked pretty decent.
Although I have a feeling they set out with "In any given situation what peopel think he should come up with, he should come up with something wackier"
And i'm not enough of a Green Lantern buff to know whether or not flamethrowers/machine guns and combustion engine jets in space are in keeping with the lore or not, but those were the only things he made I didn't like.
Most people might not be able to gauge how powerful a jet really is, but they know that they represent something really powerful (defintely not escape the sun's gravity well powerful but powerful none the less) -

Quote:I have to agree, especially when Tanya emplores you to reverse her condition and your hero is ultimately powerless to stop her transformation. The Terra Conspiracy (Ginger Yates) - losing Tanya to the DE was heart-wrenching.
I wonder if Terra will figure in the new content somehow for I21? -
Well after unlocking all the hero and villian side day job badges, it occured to me that it would be nice to get an achievement badge called "Jack of All Trades"
that is all. -
