Starship Troopers was a good movie, just not Starship Troopers
-
I hate to tell you this, but some guy was born with athletic talent and was 6' 6" in high school. He made the team with no real effort on his part thanks to his genetics. He got the letter and it meant nothing to him. High school football was a given, he was disappointed that he did not get into pro football.
It meant something to you because you worked hard for it. The fact that others did not have to work hard for it didn't change what it meant to you. Maybe you just ignored that fact, or maybe you didn't realize that others did not have to work for it. -
Quote:I have this opinion as well. But the blaster changes may fix this. They add a self heal or +regen which should greatly reduce this downtime.I've recently been leveling up a new Blaster and I think one change that would be nice for Blasters as a general QoL feature at low levels is simply removing the recharge time on Rest. Compared to other ATs Blasters have the fewest for restoring hit points during/between fights (yes, not all other ATs have it in every powerset but most have some self healing as an option). This in turn leads to an annoying situation where you either have to burn inspirations (rather than saving for when you really need them), hang around for several minutes until you regen naturally or push on anyway (increasing the chance of death).
A lot of other games have very high out-of-combat regen and removing the recharge on Rest would serve the same basic purpose.
Arcanaville posted on another thread that what causes blasters to be defeated is primarily starting fights below full health. Given that, the blaster changes allowing them to quickly get back to full health between fights may be all that is needed to eliminate the blaster defeat disparity.
My suggestion for making blasters even better would be adding additional defiance effects.
Every power you attack with (or hit with, however the dmg bonus works) gives you +.5 mezz resist for 3 seconds. 4 attacks gets you resist 2, 6 attacks gets you resist 3. This makes using your fast tier 1 and 2 powers useful for this effect, and since you can use those while mezz'd would let you fight your way out of mezz. Get hit by a mezz, use your tier 1 and 2 to get resist 2 and break out of mezz so you can use your other attacks. -
this is done in AE in a few clever arcs through optional objectives.
a mission to defeat X, has an optional objective to plant bombs as a vigilante. No bombs, you arrest the villains. Bombs - the place is blown up killing them.
likewise you could have a co-op mission. In the building is a safe, villains use the confusion and opportunity to rob the safe - heroes do not. Does not change the whole arc, but does change your motive.
And they have this with text trees - arrest the guy or kill him sort of thing -
Quote:I saw all these posts about him walking into an obvious trap. I played the mission - there was nothing obvious about it.Problem is, he did the SAME D###ED thing in the Korean trailer. "I am big mighty FLYING senior superhero with seventy years of experience under my belt! I will WALK across this blatantly obvious circular feature on the ground when facing down a known mystic foe!" This behavior is marginally forgivable in a team environment, to protect your friends. (To quote Superman from the Justice League cartoon, "I'm invulnerable, they're not. Every hit I take is one that they don't have to.") But solo... how many of Nemesis's Electro-Etheral Gravity Lenses has he walked into, and needed Manticore to shoot the control mechanism, anyway?
We walk into patterns on the floor, glowing crystals, and all sorts of things all of the time - you just think the circle was an obvious trap because it turned out to be a trap.
And States was magical from the well of furies. He fought a ton of magical beings - we fight CoT all of the time. There was no reason to think Darrin posed a threat to him. -
crabs are amazing. I don't mind the arms because crabs are so rare the arms are fairly unique. You just need a concept for them.

I've seen the video - it is very pretty
I will enjoy teaming with all of the water blasters -
thank you for funding game development

did you notice any of the content or just the rewards?

Quote:I've done First Ward once. Now I get an explosion of possible contacts there - I assumed they had added more content with those contacts. Or do they just now give access to all contacts instead of one at a time?Taking it to level 40, though, solo is somewhat harder. I find First Ward pretty much tops out at around 25-27, and you've got to find some way of making it from there to 30 for Night Ward, which- the only time I've made it all the way through so far- stops around 35-37 or thereabouts.

I am wanting to make a grav/time controller and play through Praetoria from 1 to 40.
Anyone done this yet?
is it fun?
how does the story hold up all of the way through?
any particular path in Praetoria most fun? (loyalist, traitor, violent, peaceful) -

beastmaster attacks are probably the coolest in the game
although elec has some cool ones -

Quote:fixedThis is like the MILLIONTH time I've had to explain the concept of exaggeration for effect.

pirate summoning is overpowered. they should have fixed mercs instead.

Quote:I don't know if this broke in the last 2 years, but it is really annoyingThey didn't intend this problem, but in the AE, soon as you step onto a map any kidnapped NPC spouts out their dialogue. The line they're supposed to say when you get near, the line they say when you show up, the line they say when you've beaten up their guards (iirc, I haven't set foot in there in a bit, even though I have one arc about 80% near completion).
This pretty much ruins any kind of story flow an author had planned. Being it's the AE, I seriously doubt they've even taken one look at fixing it or will. But hey we all know it's only used for farming anyways, right? -

I decided to get a character to 50 and get the accolades. I just got Portal Jockey for the first time. Also have Atlas, and the other 2 main ones.
It is interesting having actual goals in game rather than just playing whatever. And the Praetorian arc is interesting.
Makes me sad that these are not actually listed in game. I don't see how they expect players to find these things except just looking online. -
Quote:1. they did not all suck. Vahz was too tough. Clockwork were annoying but okay. And running the arcs in Atlas was terrible because you would be sent to the lvl 6 area down where you could not get back up. But running the council ones in Galaxy was fine.again:
pre "gutting" 'everyone' still ran the sewers in preference to those terrible starter arcs.
There is no golden age of lowbie hero content.
Back when each origin had its own starter arc, they still sucked and people preferred grinding the sewers.
2. people did do sewers. But lots of people in the golden age went to Hollows. Then when radios came out they went to KR to earn the jet pack. The sewers were for getting to level 8, not level 22 -
1. ignoring balance (X powerset is now better than Y powerset).
2. ignoring player behavior (everyone now does DfB instead of contacts)
What from an actual dev produced mechanics or content has gotten worse in the past 2 years?
I can't think of anything.
No powersets nerfed to useless
No new content that is terrible
No QoL changes that made things worse
There is stuff that they haven't fixed, old TF's that need to be replaced. But I cannot off the top of my head think of any changes the devs have made in the psat 2 years that have made the game worse.
But I'm sure someone can think of at least one.
