  1. I take it the slotting 'norm' for pvp is 2 acc? I ran my pve build for S4 which I found ok with 1, then again that was a long time ago when pvp was new here.

BU and Aim strangely I didn't change, that was my slotting pre-ED. I suppose it answers the question as to why I could hit MoG'd PP's.

Frost Breath has no interest for me. Had it, didn't like it, dropped it. Not much point in having one AoE attack like that when everything else is single target imo.

Stealth again is a leftover from my trip to 50, I'm open to suggestions as to what I could replace it with.

This is a proposed new build for my blaster, who I haven't played much in months. The old build is pre-ED and has been seriously messed up due to a build change I made sometime in S4 which didn't go well.

I drop my 50's fast after their final ding so I'm not sure he will get much of an outting or where, but I would like him to be useful if I blow the cobwebs from him.

My epic is a change from my previous build which had munitions. And I have always ran this alt with two travel powers for my sins.

I know a lot of people aren't fussed with Blizzard and I have no idea if the slotting is actually the best there could be for that power but the idea of stacking debuff's when it drops sounds like it could be useful, especially as I always did drop it in conjunction with ice storm slotted for slow.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
    Get it and slot it.

3 recharges and 1-3 tohit buffs depending on how much you PvP (3 if its a lot)

    [/ QUOTE ]

That drags up bad memories. I changed the slotting of it on my blaster shortly before the finals of S4 so build up and aim would recharge more often at the expense of the ToHits (I originally had 3 in both). When we met the french and their /SR scrapper I couldn't hit it...
  4. Quitters never win and winners never quit.

It took me over 6 months to get my blaster to 50, a very long and painful road it was to. Just a smidge under 700 game hours, but I don't think I ever thought about not finishing the trip.
  5. Ahh to be new to the game, everythings all shiny and new, those were the days.

AoE is area of effect. Basically a power that you 'drop' on a group of baddies which affects more than one. AoE sleep naturally puts mobs to sleep but they will awaken if attacked so if someone uses a sleep on a mob its better to use a single target attack rather than something that affects the whole mob.

When you gain more experience and lvl up you will be offered aim, and later build up and consume. Aim is useful because for a short while, 10 secs, you do 66% more damage and your accuracy increases by 100%. Build up offers 100% damage and 66% accuracy. Consume allows you to drain endurance from your enemy for yourself.

I chose Hover for my blaster thinking I would be able to fly away, not quite . You will get to chose Fly at 14. For a first time alt its great fun, go anywhere, do anything. You really do feel the part of a hero at that point.

Your build looks ok so far. You seem to already know that you can stack enhancements, you have two damage in your attacks. Ranged blasts tend to be slotted 1 accuracy and 3 damage with a mixture of other enhancements to your preference. If you slot more than 3 enhancements of the same type in a power, eg 3 damage, you get very little benefit from it.

Your inherent powers, sprint, heal etc people don't tend to add more than one slot to them. Heal would probably be better slotted with a recharge reduction rather than a heal so you can use it more often.

Biggest tip I can give you is have fun. Its not the end of the world if don't produce an uber build alt. As long as you enjoy yourself thats the important bit. As you progress you'll learn more about what you want from your blaster.

Just remember if you make it with a blaster it's all plain sailing afterwards.

  6. Cobra Strike is a very good power.

I don't think it has 100% chance of disorient but it must be close as I rarely remember it missing. I had planned to slot it 1 acc and a few disorient durations but atm its 1 acc 1 recharge. It helps for stacking with Eagles Claw and Thunder Kick to disorient bosses.

Don't know if it's worth taking at 49 but it is worth having.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Had a laugh last night kicking Luscas [censored] (if she has one?) excellent team, well done and thanks to everyone who helped out!

    [/ QUOTE ]

  8. Don't know about pb's but Focus Chi, slotted 2/2 running hasten even level will give a recharge of 38 secs. Solo vs 2/3 orange bosses or a large group of yellow/orange/red minions, lieutenants & boss I'll definetly fire it off 3+ times.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Get it, 3 slot it with recharges, add acc buffs as necessary

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've slotted it as I would my blaster, atm it has 2 toHit and 2 recharge. I intend to add one more of each later.

I really notice the toHits when taking on bosses who are purple and red to me, you are pretty much guaranteed hitting with the top attacks. Slotted 2/2 means I get to use it probably 3 or 4 times in a big mob with a boss conning +2/+3.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
It's occured that many times that many people have directly experienced it on their various characters, and you have (at least according to Bridger) been banned on at the very least one occasion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Has Bridger? I don't think I have ever heard him name anyone who has been banned.
  11. cryonic_EU

    Blizzard

    [ QUOTE ]
to me, i had a lvl 32 Ice/Ice blaster and i hated Blizzard so i deleted him

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seems a little harsh. I'd rather ignore a power than delete a toon that high and start again. Now if you'd been talking about frozen aura I'd understand.

Blizzard was always awkward because it needed a bit of planning to get the best out of it rather than the click and forget you get with other nukes.

Not really sure whats the best way to slot it now, pre-ED I used ice storm for slow and stacked it with Blizzard for damage. Three slots in IS maxed out slow so I'd assume 3 in Blizzard would do the same now.

Slotting it 3 damage, 3 ToHitDeBuff, and stacking it again with IS with 3 slows could be interesting, purely hypothetical though.
  12. I remember Rose Knight testing his attacks when ED came along at the end of S4. I think he felt like crying. He couldn't even chop a blaster or defender in half with it anymore, then again I did have body armour.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

Am I bias? Well, yeah, kind of

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tbh I'm not terribly biased in favour of blasters.

My controller could survive things my blaster never could, including soloing AV's, and that was after the removal of multiple pets. I always found it more fun to stand in melee range beside my PA with AV's. I needed that to use my /kin secondary anyway, but its more interesting than standing at the far end of the room.

I have played in all controller teams and they did the 8 man invincible, all purple mobs mission sickeningly easily. AV's going down so fast you missed them.

I find my regen scrapper if anything mildly boring to play. I get into more trouble by not paying attention, forgetting to hit DP and Integration when needed. I don't think I'd want to play in an 8 man regen team. It goes back to my first post about blasters only nuking mobs. It's all terribly affective but it would also be extremely boring.
  14. Well it was you who specified that regen scrappers were the comparison. Debates about all AT groups are always rock/paper/scissors, where one AT excels another falls down. Yes some AT's have fewer pitfalls than others but nothings perfect.

Do blasters have godly powers? If so I never noticed. A well organised blaster team will go through mobs like a hot knife through butter. This though is true of any well organised team, mixed or exclusively one AT. The difference being that blasters have always had a bad rep.

People see blasters as an accident waiting to happen. Therefore stick a bunch of blasters together must be madness, right? My current is a scrapper, in fact a regen. I need a big stick to beat off the offers to team. My blaster never had that problem, an offer to team from someone you didn't know was a rare sight indeed.

In general missions, excluding AV's, 8 blasters should fair roughly the same as scrappers. They may not go through the mobs as fast as scrappers but they won't be far behind. This may of course no longer be the case, its been over 6 months since my blaster stopped PvE. I would hope it still is though as they supposidly have been balancing the game.

There will always be exceptions but I would say they are closer to the good end of the scale then the [censored] end, which is basically what the question was asking.
  15. [ QUOTE ]

Exaclty, why should I team with random people? This game is far more fun if you team with people you get on with. I spend most of my time teamed with my SG or friends I meet along the way. I very rarely join a PUG, unless a friend is already in the team. If that's cliquey then so be it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most long termers will end up playing with people they like, it only stands to sense. Pugs can generally be more pain than they're worth. I can't remember the last one I was on were there was no one I knew but I still had fun.

As my scrapper is pretty self sufficient it doesn't terribly bother me that all my long term team-mates have moved on. It's been over a month since I joined any team, even though my scrapper is much more popular than my blaster or controller were. If the choice is between having a relaxing time solo or a hair pulling time teamed I'll solo every day of the week. This is from someone who loves to be in teams.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
if i know that everyone is going to be at full health and stamina, then there's no risk or danger and so you don't keep an eye out for your teammates and so it gets pretty boring because it's too easy yes it's god like but you'll might as well play Doom 3 on god mode.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I love playing on all squishy team, especially if the other players know their stuff. You're right, it's a bit more exciting, but this wasn't about excitement, it was about power.
An all blaster team may well be much more fun but for a rolling juggernaught of destruction that goes through a mission like a tsunami on amphetamines you need scrappers.

Although I will concede the point about trollers and AVs. But ONLY on AVs that run away.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Send a group of /regen blasters in against a psi AV and they are going to have bother, 'trollers especially /rad or ill/ will eat them up and spit them out.

But this is a discussion about blaster teams generally, not about my AT is better than yours.
  17. This to me isn't a new phenomenon. I think you have already pointed out the reason why its affecting you now, friends you had in game have left and you have ended up on the outside looking in.

The few sg's I have been in have all had cliques form within them. In my first sg I was one of 8 players who teamed night after night even though there were so many more people in the sg. It takes only a matter of days with any sg I have joined to spot who teams with who, and who doesn't.

They don't want to invite someone outside their clique to team as a friend is offline and could come on at any moment and theres only one space left on the team. Tbh I believe that if you aren't in an sg from early on you will always be on the fringe. That's probably why no two characters I have belong to the same sg.
  18. Generally big blaster teams are godly, rarely a diaster if they have some miles on the clock.

What they can sometimes be is incredibly boring. I was one in the 40's with mine, iirc 5 others blasters plus a few others. They insisted on using nothing but nukes. Talk was limited to a countdown of how long until each persons nuke was ready. Boring doesn't even begin to describe it.

Best team I was in was 6 blasters, an empathy defender to keep us buffed and a tank to manage the aggro. Had to rate as one of the most enjoyable nights I've spent playing. There was one death however in one of those old office building maps. One of the blasters got cut off on the wrong side of a doorway by the mobs filling it, no way out for him and no way for us to get to him. Even that was funny.
  19. Even though "The Legend Tainted Greek" did those pics of any I've seen the one I'd submit for posting would have to be Nettles, IMHO.

It seems to have been taken later than TG's so there's more people in it, plus the angle actually makes it more interesting than a plain front on shot, which the others are.

But hey what do I know?

  22. Personally I'd go for either:

    Hidden Healers
    Pic 2

    or Nettles
    Defiant Heroes

As both of them have me in them, looking rather bewildered coming out of city hall wondering what was going on. I actually missed this thread before the event.

    [ QUOTE ]

Btw, do you actually have to hit her? I vaguely recall a redname saying that to get creditted you only had to info her.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As has been said multiple times in the thread already, interaction is the only thing needed. For instance sally could be healed ,buffed ,debuffed etc etc.

Just remember though if it appears not to work, you have to interact with her twice. So dont get frustrated and swipe her!

    K

    [/ QUOTE ]

I see you said it now, though I'd hardly call that multiple times, no matter how much you want it to mean more.

I did hit her, she deserved it. That and my scrapper's a little shy on the whole heal/buff/debuff powersets.
  24. cryonic_EU

    Sally

I walked into sally thrice in 2 days recently with my scrapper, first time I actually had difficulty targetting her and a 50 popped up and swatted her.

Btw, do you actually have to hit her? I vaguely recall a redname saying that to get creditted you only had to info her.
  25. cryonic_EU

    Praetorian AVs

Check through all your old contacts, some tig is sitting with an open arc on that list. I'm being extra careful with my scrapper as both my 50's ended up with seriously out of date arcs that needed cleared along the road.
