Blaster lvl 7 Help
First of all, welcome to the game
must say at such low lvl it doesnt really matter so much what you pick so how bout some general tips?
1) fire blasters tend to get alot of aggro, so be prepared to have alot of angry villains aiming for you and be careful with your aggro as your teammates might not appreciate the amount you caused (which in turn caused them to die)
2) if you team with a tank, let the tank get all the aggro BEFORE you join the fight, will make your life alot easier
3) if you team with someone with an AoE sleep, try not to be too generous with your AoE attacks, your team (or at least the owner of that sleep power) prolly wont be too happy
4) get buildup, aim and consume
5) get stamina from the fitness powerpool (which will require 2 of the following powers first: swift/hurdle/health)
I normally reserve lvl 12 and 14 for my travel power, but seeing you already got a part of your travel power (hover -> fly) you might want to use lvl 12 for either swift or hurdle from the fitness pool
These are just some general tips, and admittedly I never got a blaster past lvl 25, so maybe some of the experienced fire/fire blasters can give some buildspecific tips.
If you ever need a teammate, send a tell to @stagefright, I still got a stone/axe tank, peacebringer and kin/elec defender in that lvl range (11, 11 and 15 when writing this post). If I'm available i'll be happy to help ya out, also feel free to send some tells regarding general gameplay questions.
Hope you will enjoy the game as much as I still do
"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"
Total Cat @Stagefright
thank you so much for reply and suggestions, just few questions though

Im on Union server, u too? Again thanks for your help!
AoE = Area of Effect, like the fire ball hits multiple targets, you can see it by the greyish circle around your power icon, or the power itself stated that it is a "cone effect".
Get as in, take those powers once you are able to. Aim and buildup are 10 seconds damage/accuracy buffs, looks short but your damage doubles during that period of time.
Fire/fire, high damage but low control (as in powers that completly stop your mob from attacking). I would say,
drop the range-increase enhancements and replace them for damage ones.
Put a accuracy in your ring of fire, you rather have it to hit then to miss.
replace the heal-enhancement by a recharge-reduction one in your rest power.
Hover you can either put a defence, endurace-reduction or fly-speed enhancement.
Often when i see blasters that are new to the game, i say go either energy (they love the knockback, but your team not always), or go my favo Ice primairy. At lvl8 you already get a hold power, fast cooldown, lovely power. Though ice dont have aoe's, it has great damage and nice powers.
Nefarious already gave you a kickstart what powers to get in future, do mind.. a blaster is a squishy, they tend to die alot if they get too much agro.

Ahh to be new to the game, everythings all shiny and new, those were the days.
AoE is area of effect. Basically a power that you 'drop' on a group of baddies which affects more than one. AoE sleep naturally puts mobs to sleep but they will awaken if attacked so if someone uses a sleep on a mob its better to use a single target attack rather than something that affects the whole mob.
When you gain more experience and lvl up you will be offered aim, and later build up and consume. Aim is useful because for a short while, 10 secs, you do 66% more damage and your accuracy increases by 100%. Build up offers 100% damage and 66% accuracy. Consume allows you to drain endurance from your enemy for yourself.
I chose Hover for my blaster thinking I would be able to fly away, not quite . You will get to chose Fly at 14. For a first time alt its great fun, go anywhere, do anything. You really do feel the part of a hero at that point.
Your build looks ok so far. You seem to already know that you can stack enhancements, you have two damage in your attacks. Ranged blasts tend to be slotted 1 accuracy and 3 damage with a mixture of other enhancements to your preference. If you slot more than 3 enhancements of the same type in a power, eg 3 damage, you get very little benefit from it.
Your inherent powers, sprint, heal etc people don't tend to add more than one slot to them. Heal would probably be better slotted with a recharge reduction rather than a heal so you can use it more often.
Biggest tip I can give you is have fun. Its not the end of the world if don't produce an uber build alt. As long as you enjoy yourself thats the important bit. As you progress you'll learn more about what you want from your blaster.
Just remember if you make it with a blaster it's all plain sailing afterwards.

I might have not noticed you announcing your home, but if you're on union give me a shout @Braindead. I'm not a veteran like some of these guys, but I joined at a time when I got a pair of free respecs. As such I've tried most fire/fire powers and still play the character.
I've tried most powers and even the ones that are slated have their uses, in my opinion.
If you're not on union, feel free to PM me.

Welcome to City of Heroes, if you want you may read my guide City of Heroes 101. It introduces a lot of basic knowledge and is written from a blasters point of view.
As for the fire blaster, build looks ok so far (as stated earlier). Don't know much about /fire but I do have a fire/energy blaster.
Fire breath is a very good power, combining it with aim-build up and following up with fire ball will draw a lot of aggro but kill most of it anyways
Rain of Fire is a very, very, very situational power as it causes the mob to scatter. People do not like the mobs to scatter.
Blaze is a very good short range high damage attack, take it, slot it, love it!
Inferno does massive damage, but leaves you drained of all end. It will kill a lot and when using it in a team situation you'll be fine.
Not sure if you know about Enhancement Diversification, as you're only lvl 7 it doesn't affect your training enhancements but you'll get more powerfull so you might want to read up about it. Enhancement Diversification(ED)
And if you're on the Union server, introduce yourself in the Union forum. The Precision Rangers are a blaster-only supergroup with a lot of helpfull people. We might be full atm but there is definitly room in the ALT Rangers.
G-Force
I would slot your primary blast attacks with:
1 accuracy, 3 damage, 2 recharge reductions
some people go for:
2 accuracy, 3 damage, 1 recharge reduction
if you hover your cursor over the power name it tells you how effective your slotting is.
You start off with training enhancements then dual origin and finally single origin, if you're a mutant origin hero you'll be able to use mutant/science enhancement (DO) and mutant enhancements (SO) for example.
For ring of fire I recommend 2 accuracy enhancements as the accuracy on it is pretty pants then if you can spare some slots add immobilisation duration and recharge reductions.
For fire sword, 1 accuracy, 3 damage, 2 recharge reductions is good.
for general gameplay, take a look at http://www.vidiotmaps.com/coh/index.php?nav=printout for maps of the zones and http://cohplanner.coldfront.net/ for Joe Chott's Hero planner, it helps you plan your build for your hero.
Also check the guides section of the forum.
Fire blasters can be very powerful in the right hands but also a team's biggest curse in the wrong hands due to the aggro it creates.
I have a mix of primary AOE and single target attacks to be able to adapt to any situation, some go for the full AOE route (which is good if you plan to team with controllers and tanks all the time )
As Gen said the best way to learn is to team with other blasters and see how they operate.
Precision Rangers are full at the mo but the ALT Rangers still has spaces. Take a look at the Rangers thread on the Union page and introduce yourself
wrahh, thank u guys! nice read, and I will read all he links in detail at weekend
I am indeed on Union server so looks like Ive already made myself some friends :P lol
Again, thank you and I will drop a post in Union tread.

Hello
definitely plus and potential downside to the fire blaster is the AOE attacks once you get these slotted up at higher levles you can use a firebreath and fireball 1one two to flatten most groups
I'm on Union and also a member of the Rangers, so feel free to give me a shout and i'll geve you any help i can

Aren't we all mate, aren't we all?
/em shakes head sadly.
One piece of advice I would give you is to lay off the AoEs until you're sure its safe. In the meantime target one of the melee toons in your team. His target will be highlighted and if you fire off an attack it'll hit that target but said melee toon will hold the agro. Works a treat.

Don't assume that you shouldn't take your melee powers.
Don't slot training enhancements - sell them. They're pretty much useless and you'll need the money later on.
Skip Rain of Fire and Flares.
Take Stamina, Hasten, and maybe Aid Self.
Don't believe the lies - Defiance is useless and trying to use it will get you killed.
Enjoy.

Welcome to the game! Don't get attached to any toon (player) u play with cause i have a lvl 33 Fire/Fire blaster and i just gave up, it was quit hard with A LOT of debt so try other archetypes. Thats What I Say!
Quitters never win and winners never quit.
It took me over 6 months to get my blaster to 50, a very long and painful road it was to. Just a smidge under 700 game hours, but I don't think I ever thought about not finishing the trip.
I love every bit of my blaster and don't see reasons to quit anytime soon
anyways note Ive changed my forum name so Im easier to find lol. This is also my globle name @Madvillain
well, just replied to your other thread, but will reply here just in case, yeah im on Union as well.
Seems others went through the trouble of explaining what AoE means so i dont think i have to explain it anymore just thought of something whilst reading this as well. I'm a controller person myself, love em anyway, when you want to do an AoE, it might also be a good idea to let a controller lock em all down so your AoE will do the full effect. A combo tank, controller, AoE blaster works a charm.
The tank runs in, grabs aggro, tries to pull them all around him. The controller moves in, casts one of his AoE lockdowns (well unless its an illusion controller, those are a different breed altogether :P). Once they are all bunched up, unable to move, let lose your AoE mayhem and watch em drop like flies.
Anyway, enjoy your blaster, and the offer for help still stands when i'm online
