Only the idiots who think those are the "knockback sets", with little knowledge of how much the effect is built into the game engine and therefore mostly unavoidable.

Same folks who aren't smart enough to use the search button. Why would I listen to an idiot? We don't need this same argument several times a month just because folks are too lazy to use the tools they are given, both in game and out of game. Lazy and stupid people should not ever be followed by those capable enough to realize that they are indeed stupid and lazy.

The idea that you don't have problems by getting rid of knockback is just stupid. Every set you take will generate the possibility of problems because players are stupid, lazy, and generally uncooperative with their fellow man. Everyone is too damn greedy to work together. This game's current problems are all products of lazy, stupid, and greedy players.

    Plant/Storm

The worst part of the new difficulty settings:

Every toon is either "good for farming" or "good for AVs".

Whatever happened to just being a viable, fun to play character? If the fact there are ALWAYS 2 instances of PI on Virtue now is any indication......it has gone the way of the dodo.

Plant/Storm is a lot of fun and can take big spawns fine. The hardcore farmers suggest it isn't a farming toon, however, so be prepared for that. I suppose then in some people's minds it is a worthless toon to play.

And those are so good, no one runs them anymore.

We're working in circles here folks. Every time someone makes a suggestion that this isn't a thread about power gaming it comes back to being a thread about power gaming.

And the first rule of power gaming is: Only the best matters. Every time anything is tweaked that changes and something else *needs help*. It's a chase your tail mentality, and this thread is proof of it.
  4. The thing is a piece of cake. The only reason it isn't ran more is the people who only do anything in this game for the grub......i.e. merits.

If it were suddenly worth a lot, people would run it more than the ITF.

Unless we're talking about power leveling, or some other leveling method that clearly needs to exceed the base leveling speed of AE missions approved under the changes.

But we're clearly not talking about those things in this thread. Nope. Nope. Nope.

Given that the devs refuse (rightly) to increase the ability to hold items, that award is like gold.

    You just don't realize it.

It's a poor work around. The AE, from its onset, was supposed to limit exploitability. They took several measures early on to limit it, but just didn't completely understand just how far players will go to exploit a system (IME, they still don't properly understand that).

That doesn't mean you can't level through AE, and many users and SGs use it for that purpose. The interface, more than anything, is to blame for the difference between some AE missions and dev developed content.

You referenced a quote on leveling. ((This board seriously needs nested quotes to function properly.))

The only two options that you quoted were leveling and story telling. Therefore, unless you give another option, the "promise of multiple things" reads as those two. You need to be MUCH more specific in what they "promised" to keep it from reading as it did. ((If you have a fault here then you need to make things more clear.))

Leveling is still possible in AE, therefore the thing taken away is power-leveling. Therefore, the quote reads as a promise of power-leveling.

I wish third ninja minion had a "thing" going for him instead of just being another guy who runs around kicking things. He could've at least had Cobra Strike, or something.

I do agree with much of this. Ninja/Storm is definitely not boring, and it isn't the EZ mode some combos are, but it is very gratifying. You succeed and die with that pairing based on what you did, not based on the RNG. You can mow through things with impressive speed, but you're also not just a leash for the pets, either. It's one of the few pairings of any AT where I can take a mish and faceplant, then redo it with no changes and not see anybody take a scratch. It's all up to you. That's what makes it a fun pair, imo. It's challenging in the sense it takes some skill to play, but it pays off in a big way, as well.

The third pet thing, however........blah. I see where you're coming from (although not all of the tier 1 pets are like that) but that pet always seems hellbent on dying on other masterminds as it is. The Genin all do pretty good damage for a Tier 1 and for their purpose I'd just as soon they do their damage than anything else.
  11. You'll probably be better served putting this in the PVP section instead.

Simply for the fact those people understand the new changes to PVP much better, overall, and your questions are essentially PVP questions.

It also allowed us to try out different classes quick.

When a game get as old as Coh/v, it becomes top heavy and that's where most of the game play can end up. So, being able to get there quicker than normal made it a great game for us to play.

Too bad the silent majority doesn't speak out more but, because of the backlash on the forums whenever someone whispers they enjoyed playing the game by leveling quick or farming they don't.

I don't care how you spin it.......no game condones powerleveling in that fashion. If they wanted you to level like that, they'd have set it up in a legit way!

Crying that the forum meanies are out to get you does not excuse you using exploits. Every game out there has folks like you trying to excuse clearly unintended behavior. Good Luck finding a new game that allows you to use exploits. You're on a long and lonely road jumping from game to game.
  13. We should start a suggestions thread on how to get rid of knockback.
  14. And there are those of us who find those that think they need specific powersets to be the real silly ones.

  16. Lots of "I"s, "me"s, and "my"s in these statements.......and that's the problem here. Always is, always will be.

Get 8 self-centered and lazy players together and you have problems. Doesn't matter what the cause is of those problems (knockback is certainly not the lone cause of teaming issues).

It's of course no wonder that those too lazy to deal with their in game issues are also those too lazy to do a search on the subject so that we don't get several a month of which usually involve the same arguments from the same people. Managing knockback, by all parties (whether that is the user moving to the correct position or something like a /WP moving to a corner), isn't difficult.....heck, it is almost as easy as hitting that big search button at the top of the forum.
  17. At the drop of a hat.........any hat.
  18. Us really intelligent folks know that the entire idea of intelligence is horribly difficult to define and would refrain from such narrowly fixed definitions as they are used in this thread.

This thread also fails (but not as bad as this weak attempt at thread derailment).
  19. The search button is your friend. Everyone in this thread fails royally in search-fu.

Solo means singular.....i.e. just one person.

I wouldn't have marked it 'easy', given what that terms means for this particular game, but the Magi aren't that bad. They're certainly no worse as bosses against a solo toon than many other boss class enemies in the high end game.

I'd leave them in, and overall I think the challenge level was appropriate, as long as those playing it aren't given lower expectations. If you go in thinking this will be easy, you'll be shocked, but it really isn't far off of any dev created rikti mission (obviously).

Death is pretty frustrating too. That's why I just play with the IWIN button on autofire.
