Plant/Storm
Yeah, Plant/Storm is a great combo. Plant control is particularly good for AoE control and damage over time with Seeds of Confusion and Roots, and then Carrion Creepers added. It is weak on single-target damage. But Tornado and Lighting Storm can add some nice single-target damage. Roots has -Knockback, making Tornado more effective as a damage power.
Yes, you can farm with a Plant/Storm. I'm not sure how it compares to other builds, as I'm not a farmer. But Plant Control is great, and Storm is great, and there are quite a few synergy aspects to the two sets. Seeds of Confusion+Roots+Freezing Rain adds up to lots of AoE damage as early as level 16.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

The worst part of the new difficulty settings:
Every toon is either "good for farming" or "good for AVs".
Whatever happened to just being a viable, fun to play character? If the fact there are ALWAYS 2 instances of PI on Virtue now is any indication......it has gone the way of the dodo.
Plant/Storm is a lot of fun and can take big spawns fine. The hardcore farmers suggest it isn't a farming toon, however, so be prepared for that. I suppose then in some people's minds it is a worthless toon to play.
My S/L Soft capped Plant/Storm/Stone actually makes more raw influence per hour than my soft capped S/L Fire/Kin/Stone (Both are realitively high end builds)
So yeah you can definitely farm with it. The big thing is you need spawns close together to pull it off because of how slow the carrion creeper patch is and needed them to respawn for max damage output.
The biggest problem with the build is usually keeping your end up. Even with massive recovery slotting to keep pace you need to really spam damage slotted roots, Fissure, and keep two tornadoes out. L-Storm and Seismic Smash help pick off stragglers who don't get shredded by tornado.
Though Plant/Storm is an AoE beast, the end drain is simply too much to make it a viable farming toon.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Pan Demonium, my 50 plant/storm/psy. Seeds o Confusion to clump em, Roots to keep em, Carrion Creepers to scare the hell out of em, Freezing Rain to chill em out, Drop a tornado, then psychic tornado for some pink AoE damage and they are usually mostly dead. But, if they are still alive, I better hope to Jebus i have a couple blue skittles to pop or else I am gonna be standing there waiting for my end to build up for a lil while.
OTOH
I have Primal Forces Mastery on my second build and I DO use that to farm the Cim Wall. Since, if I target the last roman in a line with SoC and run up to the first, I can hit them all, then Energy Torrent will hit them all and the rest is gravy on a tasy roman biscuit.
I generally farm a plant/storm followed by a plant/kin so I'm cheating a bit but have run the plant/storm by itself on occasion. To echo the above; you can farm with it but need some kind of plan to manage end. Get that sorted and it's very effective.
How it compares to another more famous farming build in terms of effectiveness is a bit difficult to say. Farming is as much about what you are mowing through as the make of lawnmower you are using. Match the enemies to the set/build and go to town.

Of course, the downside is that you will miss 5% of the time. Too many debuffing enemies unconfused == a very debuffed/dead Plant/Storm controller.

I was just wondering if this is a good farming set, and if not, what is it exactly good for? My friend has this build and he wanted to know if it was good for anything. lol.

Expect a little down time for endurance. Even with Stamina and recovery bonuses from sets, I can still have some issues with extra large groups. I use hasten so once in a while that -end kick can hurt a little.
Sometime, the mob group you're fighting may be a factor. I love fighting CoT, Councle, Family, and Carnival. I do not like Malta and Knives. Some go down faster than others. The varity of damage offered by Storm can cover a range of damage and depending on your Epic, you can cover every aspect. Smashing and Lethal are the primary damage from Plant with some toxic from creepers. S/L is resisted more at higher levels making take down times a bit longer. Storm had wonderful debuffs to defense and resist that are priceless.
Use seeds! Even if you're farming for exp. Seeds are going to make things faster and easier for you. Some farmers have told me they hate it when seeds (confuse in general) is used because they don't get the max they expect. I love it! You'll never see me without seeds, creeper and rain.
In short, it's a good build for farming. It plays differently than say Fire/Kin but still gets the job done. If your AV or Monster focused, meh, I've not had luck solo. If I can change my AV to an Elite Boss, then I've had better luck, not great, but better. In teams, it plays awsome. Rooting mobs after tank has aggro then Lightning Storm, Creepers, and Tornado can go to town without knockback worries. I've run on teams for AV and Monster Farming and we just mopped the floor with them. Creeper can grab aggro and help the tank a great deal in a pinch. Fly Trap is still stupid, but seems to pull through in a pinch if you keep an eye on it and try to move in areas to guide him through a fight. (I don't think this was a short as I wanted it, oh my.) Just don't under estimate the power of this build. It is a great build and I have lots of fun with it.

Yeah my Plant/Storm/Stone is a beast. i've used it to lvl up many a lowbie, it'll waste away maps full of minions. Its shortcomming is simply single target damage. Which can be alieveated by the epic (siesmic smash is a nice crunchy attack AND a mag 4 hold). I still haven't gotten a fire/kin to 50 yet, indeed i haven't gotten any other controller to 50 yet, so I can't comment on how the 2 compare, but it is definetely a mob mauler.

One of the biggest draws of plant/storm for me is the fact that it's just plain and simple fun. You've got tons of tools to play with and can easily handle most situations. Things can get a bit spread out if you let it, but then you have hurricane to push it all back together.
Ohh yes it is fun. lots of fun chaos that actually functions! controlled chaos.. if that makes sense . Even though i've started other controllers before it, its still my first and only lvl 50 controller

From what I have read, Plant/Storm's biggest drawback is endurance. How much do you think Consume out of Fire's pool would help? I have it on my Fire/Fire/Pyre tanker and it is a godsend...
Consumes helpful, but Plant/Storm is heavy ranged. Good recovery bonuses help manage throughout missions. I went with energy mastery and took conserve. I like the results, but try out each and see what fits your playstyle more.
Main reason I went with energy is powerboost in case you're wondering.
I went with the conserve power/powerboost route as well. Powerboost turns Hurricane into a very, very mean -tohitdebuff. I also didn't find consume to mesh well with my use of Hurricane.
I was just wondering if this is a good farming set, and if not, what is it exactly good for? My friend has this build and he wanted to know if it was good for anything. lol.
