for zone, all of that makes perfect sense.
in a team arena setting though, an ss/elec or fire/elec brute will be your top choice.
endless webnades > broken fossilize.
fire has a bit of an edge in some situations since you will not be subject to rage crashes and if you end up being perma-taunted (happens a lot), you can dish out more damage than ss against another /elec or elec/ target (loli13+ team fiteclub is go). -
If learned anything from those economists who studied Everquest, it is that you should always keep your assets invested.
while I don't necessarily mean they should be in purples, but the fact is this: an apoc will always be worth more than a devastation. an absolute amazement will always be worth more than a stupefy.
for a long time i used to keep my infamy/influence in cash form. it was good. i was well off. but for the past few months i've been keeping everything in IO form; it basically keeps me equipped to react to price spikes almost instantly. my "IO'd-out toon" count-rate has since gone up a whole lot.
i'd rather be indexed to the market and safe, than just make a bet on deflation (which is doubtful if GR doesn't come in soon enough, ie there are no changes in i17 that would precipitate deflation of anything besides maybe crafted vs. uncrafted items). -

Nope, that's false. My fire blaster has had the problem since it first appeared. And I haven't even been to the tailor since the color changes were introduced in the game. Everything is 100% default, but it's still bugged.

i would never ever ever recommend an SR brute.
i had a fully purpled out, completely IO'd, amazing fire/sr that used to wreck ice/ss tanks right about the time when i13 hit...
after the elusivity nerf, i took it apart and put the IOs into something else. SR is horrible. it's like not having a secondary.
SS/Elec, Fire/Elec or SS/Fire are really your best bets... just dont expect to be a blaster; get webnades, get taunt. make people cry. -
