Effective Ranged Fighter/Anti-Stalker

I am looking to build a ranged character mostly for PvP. So far I have an Ice/EM Blaster or a /Rad Corruptor in mind. Radition debuffs and Ice/EM use to be extremely powerful in PvP before the changes in issue 13 so I am wondering if that still is the case. I am not solely commited to these 2 builds however and would appreciate some advice on what would be an effective ranged character even if it is a Defender.

I have a specific requirement. My ranged character must be able to engage and kill Stalkers. Merely moving around to avoid Assassination Strike does not equate to being able to destroy them. This means I have to see Stalkers before they strike. I understand that I would perhaps not be able to see Stalkers until they are within a close distance, but as long as I can see them before they deliver their first strike, then I should be able to destroy them. Understand this character will be for lvl 50 PvP and I will judge his PvP performance at that level.

In zone: earth/ta or earth/cold.

I didnt think controllers would be ideal for PvP dominance and I thought since Issue 13 Forts were not too effective. Will such builds be good at anything other than counter Stalker ? I want overall effectiveness as well.

Sharks only use Dvorak keyboards, so they can't follow your WASD.

If one sharker is killing you, you may need to get better. If it's 3-4, well then find a team.

Well everytime a stalker sharks it root itself for about 2 sec, if you also take TS into considaration you should be out of range before he can even launch the next one. Unless it's more then one stalker you should never die.

Also greens are your friends.

Never? I take it you are insinuating that you have "never' been killed by a solo stalker?

I havent. I was afk once and came back to myself getting ASd but I lived thru that too. Nanu is right. Stalkers are bad at dmg now a days.

Really? I mean I know I play on the empty eu servers but they are really that bad?

On my blaster that is at HP cap with some decent loldefense, some of the stalkers in there can unleash a downright hailstorm of pain on me.

I know they are decent players with expensive builds and they really hit hard. I went in the other day just stood next to the base and two of them opened up with sharks and even pumping my heal and hitting hiber didnt make any difference. All those procs and ticks was just crazy. Dead in about 2-3 seconds- heal didnt do anything and hiber didnt kick in anywhere near in time.

Gotta love looking at yourself in an ice cube then dieing like 8 seconds later.

But yeh I must just suck compared to you uber guys. I mean to attain the level of skill where i can actually leave the room and let a stalker hammer on my blaster and not die. Sheesh if only I had skills such as those.

I didnt really mind stalkers pre abomination pvp. At least they didnt have sharks then and WASD actually worked as a counter to AS.

But it seems to me now after a 6 month break that the major factor in most builds is the sheer amount of cash spent on the builds.

I could hold my own on my cheaper builds in zonal, between 250m up to about 600m against more expensive builds pre abomination. But now I can really feel the difference in performance.

But yeh as Union has only a tiny pvp population now the majority of pvp'ers all seem to have very expensive builds. And while im not singling out stalkers as especially unbalanced I really cant see how ANY build could afk in front of most of the stalkers on Union. Maybe a scrap or tank for a few seconds.

Are you done yet?

First off if you're dying from two shraks you're not at the hp cap. It takes a whole shrakzooka (three) to kill my hp capped blaster in one go. I know how annoying it is, but thats clearly an exaggeration on your part.

Secondly, I wasn't exactly out front of the vill base when I went afk. I was next to my base, and the thing about Freedom RV is that one side is constantly camping the other, there are no free roaming battles. It always ends up at one of the bases. Considering the situation, yeah I could afford to go afk, since as soon as I was hit he was held/hit whatever and no hitting me.

Third, being able to not die to shraks is not uber, its just you know, moving.

Last, my build is on the cheap end. Im no cyclol when it comes to cash and I dont play the market like barrier. Im poor, but unless theres a shrakzooka, shraks are the still low on the totem pole for me.

This is different from your original question. Two stalkers is not a "solo stalker".

You're right about the money thing though. To compete with some of the really rich people, you have to be about 3 times better than them at the game.....or spend the same money yourself. Most people choose the latter.

Yeh. RoxBow- it gave as good as it got around i12 and for a while after i13 but now I just cant compete with some of the builds flying around RV.

And @conflict yeh i have a bs/regen scrapper. Bit boring. Yes I can stay alive. Obviously a single stalker would have to get lucky to take me down on that.

I wasnt the OP and I personally dont think stalkers are that out of order. I am lvling one myself to play in RV.

I just feel there is a little exaggeration about how poor stalkers are. A decently built stalker with a skilled player will cause you some pain imo.

A single stalker is really nothing more than an annoyance. If they can't AS you, they pretty much can't kill you. Of course this assumes that you have phase or hibernate, since they're 100% mandatory for PvP now, thanks to I13.

But it's true, +HP definitely has a HUGE impact on how fearsome stalkers are. A single shark taking off only 30% HP vs like 65% HP is a pretty big deal. Perhaps that's why any serious PvP'er (most likely at HP cap) laughs at them, while newbies (most likely with the lowest HP possible for their AT) cower in fear.

What are the GR changes that will make Fort's and Bane's more effective ? I havent heard talk of this yet.

They are effective to some extent now. GR brings them to blue side, as a counter to stalkers in zone PvP. Their higher perception cap lets them see stalkers from 100 feet away versus the 10 for everyone else.
