  1. I enjoy the time pressure of both Mayhem and Safeguard missions, including the side missions.

    what is this?

We have mystical powers, high tech armour, and weird science powers from bitten by a radioactive silverfish.

We fly, shoot fire, or cold, or negative energy, or twist our enemy's minds into pretzels.

Yet, and yet, there is a certain satisfying feeling gained by using the Slammer to knock an alien military commander into a back alley, and then putting the boots to him.

"Welcome to Earth, B****! This is what we humans call a curb-stomp!"

Thank you Burner24. Your childlike outlook toward violence and mayhem always makes my day. The damage is good, and the knockback can be hilarious.

Burner24 considers the Slammer to be mandatory equipment for most characters.

  4. We did it!

We did abandon my plan to clear all the way down the hole to the Hydra, but we did manage to defeat the menace!

Thank you to Struder, Burner, Nurse Placebo, Major Fiasco, Fiery Hawk, and a few others I cannot remember, for being patient, and dedicated!
  5. I tend to check out the info when waiting, interested, or upon noticing strange or newbish behaviour.

My buddy was a pretty knowledgable guy before he got his 3 month badge, and I've teamed with pretty clueless players who, according to vet badges, had been subscribed for years.
  6. I'll be playing!

More specifically, kicking pixels with friends, helping new folks and returnees.

I have long-term very uncommitted goals of getting one of each AT to 50, but I drop that in a heartbeat for the above situations.

May get my corrupter and peacebringer (both 44-45) to 50 over the weekend, or at least, further in that direction.
  7. Yeah, I liked the questions that Ima was asking. Almost like it was... arranged, or something.
  8. Xalaqia

    Enemy Request.

Signed for Snaptooth in the MA.

I hate that guy. Ruining Christmas isn't enough. He tries to ruin a whole year's worth of holidays in one shot.

So, I heartily endorse his inclusion into the Mission Architect. Just so I can whale on him at my whim!
  9. Well done! I like Major Arachnos. He's got smart.
  10. 1) Gunmetal Grace (50 AR/Dev Blaster)

  11. Here's my angle...

"On further investigation, the Arachnos cell that participated in coordinated attacks on Paragon City were being manipulated by a disaffected high level Arachnos operative, hoping to destabilize my relations with the United States of America, and gain political power in the upheaval, which probably could have included a coup d'etat. The official in question has been detained, and will be questioned extensively. The operatives in question have been chastised and will be placed under strict probationary conditions, since they only believed they were acting under my authority and expressed orders."

And, have a show trial and execute some mid-level schmuck who's been annoying you recently.

    (dust hands)

If it's too darn obvious that an Arachnos cell conducted the attacks (no disguises) and they are expendable, pull a Countess Crey and "cooperate" with the perpetrators being handed over to justice.

If they are valuable, make it sound like they were misguided, or deliberately misled.

Overall, it's a tough call when the players think they know the NPCs better than the GM. I've had that trouble before. If you are in a consented GM position, then the players should assent to your interpretation. If the characters act a certain way, expecting a certain NPC reaction, but don't get it, well, that's roleplaying!

I've always thought of Scorpion as the classic playground bully, but with enough intelligence to know WHO to bully to get the tech he wants and suck up to the bosses when required.
  12. Since this game is account-based, you can download or install it on as many computers as you have permission for. Go for it. It's fine!

Meaning, you don't need to use YOUR computer to access your account. You can play your stuff on any machine that has CoH installed.
  13. Basic IO recipes, for any level, including EndMod, are available for purchase at any IO workbench.

At 43, I wouldn't be spending money on DOs.

SOs are available at stores in IP and Talos, at 25, (slottable at level 22) and villainside in Sharkshead.

Architect tickets may allow you to buy SOs earlier, I think.
  14. Why is Altaholics a bad thing?

I have no problems with moat monsters being added.

  17. This Saturday October 3rd, starting at 9am Eastern, 7am Mountain, Gunmetal Grace of the Legendary Avengers will be attempting the Abandoned Sewer Trial, and will definitely need help. Heroes, on Victory Server, Levels 38-40+ are requested to sign up below. Those heroes over level 40 will be autoexemplared to 40. Those in the level range of 38-40 will receive a Hydra Enhancement.

Meet in Atlas, by the Sewer Entrance.

Something is growing in the Sewers, something huge... and this being Paragon City, that's saying something.

Be prepared for a nasty fight in the depths facing the worst Rikti can manage! Teamwork and coordination are essential.

Check this link for details and suggested strategy.

    Serious Question

Are you able to defeat a variety of bosses? Part of the difficulty of facing serious enemies is they don't all do the same thing.

How about a custom critter group based on a successfull high-end task force? Rather than all having the same power sets, they have buffing, debuffing, DPS, slows, end drains, kins, rads, etc? Make them all EBs, with maximum power sets.

How about building a mission that is designed to defeat you?

Can you solo a Carnie/Malta/Rikti mission based on +4/x8/Bosses/AV? This means either standard content, or a mission designed to be challenging, not a farm run.

Also, Statesman called. He says Lord Recluse is planning something nasty, and would be interested if you could take care of it. By yourself. You can find him in Independence Port.

If you really want his respect, you can do the +4/x8, and set for the Masters Badge, which means no deaths, no temp powers allowed.

I'd be interested if you could do this.

Should you quit? If the time and money you spend aren't paying off in fun, then yes.
  19. The OP is funny. But maybe not the way he intended.
  20. People can be the suck.

Don't give up hope. Continue to have your fun, your way, and the previous suggestions to post in the forums, keep records, and take lotsa pictures, and you'll probably gain a following.
  21. Cims are tough. Do you run The Wall regularly?
  22. www.openoffice.org

Free office software. Not bad, but it does have a one-button PDF converter, and is free.
  23. Welcome to the Game!

The Hollows is a Hazard Zone, and therefore has a level restriction. You must be at least level 5 to enter.

To get to the Hollows, first be in either Atlas Park, or Skyway City. There is a red dot on the map (which is a Hazard Zone entrance) on the right, or east side. Go to the gate, and click on one of the policeman. Try clicking on the lower part of their riot shields, and they should let you in.

I'm guessing you've been directed there by a mission to talk to Officer Wincott. Officer Wincott is also a contact, so you can get missions from him as well. Or you can do the missions from your other contacts.

Another interesting thing to do at level 5, is head to King's Row, get your police scanner from the detective, run a few police scanner missions, then get and complete the safeguard mission for a temporary jetpack.
  24. Play on the difficulty setting which is the most fun.

This leads to fun play sessions.

    Mission accomplished!
