Purchasing/Downloading CoH, need help.

I know this may sound dumb... but what is the best way / how do I download CoH to a different computer?

I already have a user profile/account setup with NC Soft and the game loaded onto a different computer, but how do I get the actual game onto another computer so I can play the game on it instead?

My primary computer is in the shop and will be for a while so I need to setup a backup for now.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and have a great day :-)

Go to http://us.ncsoft.com/en/

Go to "Log In" on the top line, then log in to your master NCSoft account

Go to "Game Accounts" on the third blue line in the window

Click on your account in that new window

In (about) the middle of the screen you'll see "Change Password," "Cancel Subscription," and a few more.

The 8th and 9th options there are "Download PC Client" and "Download Mac Client."

No need to buy a new copy -- you just need to download (and probably patch) the new copy to your new machine!

Thank you very much. I thought there might be a way to get the needed software on new computer without having to create a new account.

Thank again.

You can also burn your directory onto a DVD or several CDs (the piggs folder alone is almost 3GB) and just copy it onto the new computer from the media. You'll have to do some finagling to "install" it (copy CohUpdater.exe to your desktop, run THAT copy, and tell it to install into your INSTALLATION directory), but you won't have to download anything.

Somebody has a guide to doing this, but I'm too lazy to look for it and someone else will come along with a link anyway!

You don't need to create a new account. Use your existing plaync username and password, which you should have already.

I was going to suggest this too, but the OP said:

so that pretty much rules out copying it this time. But it's good information for anybody who might need to do it in the future.

On a side note, I prefer using a Flash Drive. It's much faster and easier than using the CD/DVD method, and you can just overwrite it when a new version comes out as well. I also back up the coh registry on it as well so it remembers my video preferences for reinstalls to the same system.

Oh, I must have skipped that part (I don't know how, it's the main point behind the post, duh)... I blame the vicodin.

Since this game is account-based, you can download or install it on as many computers as you have permission for. Go for it. It's fine!

Meaning, you don't need to use YOUR computer to access your account. You can play your stuff on any machine that has CoH installed.

www.paragonwiki.com is a great source of information for this game.

If you can't go the download route, and find it too slow or something, and copying the directory is out of the question, you should be able to use your original install disk if you still have that and the updater will bring it up to speed from there. If you don't have one of those, you can go to the store and get a copy of the Architect edition disk (updated to issue 14) for usually around $20. That'll also get you a free month that you can add to your existing account ($15) and your choice of the Magic or Cyborg booster packs ($10). Costs some money, but only $5 you weren't originally going to spend more so not TOO bad (if you exclude the booster packs...if you were, you make $5).

This.

I picked up the AE version for $24.95 CAD when it came out, for a couple of reasons:

1. The booster pack
2. An up to date install disk

Those two reasons alone made the net $10 cost for the purchase well worth it. To the OP, give your specific circumstances, this would probably be a good route to go. Even with the time taken for a trip to the store, it would still probably be faster than either downloading, or patching up from an old install disk.

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
