Quote:It is easy enough to make a macro or keybind to locate those hostages with target_custom_next, onec you know a part of their names. And that, you can find in the mission info on Paragon Wiki. There's a Rikti misison out of RWZ (from Levantra, I think) where you have to rescue four people and disarm four Rikti bombs in one of those power station outdoor maps. I always drop it because looking for the last captive citizen on a huge outdoor map full of catwalks and towers is pure tedium.
Quote:Isn't it impossible to drop the Lady Jane one? I always do that one alone...with a team it's almost certain it will fail.
We cleared a path back to Jane, then rescued her.
She only aggroed one side group, which we eradicated quickly, then we managed to lead her to the glowie. I think we even managed to miss the ambushes that time too.
Thankfully, the team was high enough level that there were no ghosts in the mission. That would have been a problem, since when they Ooooooooo away on you, she chases after them (often through several other groups of Thornies). -
Even on Virtue lately, I have had trouble finding teams.
Go to PI and broadcast that I am looking for a team for missions, then wait and wait and wait and wait. Repeat 5 to 10 minutes later and wait some more.
Then run a mission solo and broadcast again upon exiting, and still be unable to get a team.
And when bringing up the search window, it appears that I am usually the only one who does not have the "Not Looking For Team" flag set. Usually after an hour of trying to find a team, I finally give up and go watch a movie, or get some sleep, or read assorted forums.
I never thought I would ever have so much trouble getting my Ice/Rad controller on a team until I started working PI. -
Quote:Hmm. I never considered that there could be an internal cap on that zone's ambushes. I don't really recall any pre-lvl10 ambushes though. I'm sure I could be missing one.
If that code really exists, it would make sense to simply add a lvl 30 cap to Talos (for example) so people don't get the lvl 45-50s standing around waiting for somebody the wrong lvl to walk by. I don't mind one way or the other, but at least it would add more consistency to the game.
Starting contacts give a mission that is essentially "Introduction to Ambushes 101."
And when you finish the mission, the person you were sent to warn about impending danger asks if you by chance encountered any of whatever attacked you. -

I have noticed that once she locks onto a critter, if it flees she will follow (even if it means running through countless other groups). This is usually only a problem when running this at levels low enough to spawn spectrals.
They have a tendency to oooooOOOOOOoooooo away invisibly when they get down to half health. And even though they are invisible, she sees them and will follow without exception. When that happens, it is time to just sit back and laugh as she goes down, then wait nonplussed for the like what-ever failed screen.
At least she's not chicken. -
Is it coincidence that the respec NPCs for heroes and villains (at least the original before Sawyer was added) both have wolf related names? Jack Wolfe / Arbiter Lupin

Quote:Akarist too was stolen from MAGI's custody. And though not because of a villain, there is also that Divining Rod thingie that Skipper LaGrange gives you in Croatoa. All one of them. The only item actually stolen from MAGI in any arc is the Wheel of Destruction.
So there's at least 3 things stolen in different arcs. -
Quote:What would be hilarious would be to see something like that happen to a fresh big group of new recruits to that Iron Eagles SG (the one where if you die you either delete or drop from the group).I guess it coulda been my ambush, tho I don't see how - anyway I'm glad I was there to take care of them or that lowbie sewer PuG woulda been in big trouble!
Just picture the Eagles having a big recruiting drive and a bunch of new recruits sign up together...
Exit Outbreak, and the entire pack immediately gets mowed down by some level 50's forgotten ambush in Galaxy or Atlas. It could happen yaknow. -
That was caused by a bug. Drones or not, they should have dropped dead as soon as they got close to Wentworth's due to the kill zone around the place.
-
Another fun fact: Plant Dominators and Controllers can also tank quite well once they have their Creeper Vines and Fly Traps (or even just the Creeper Vines). Come to think of it, Illusion Controllers can also tank with Phantom Army, Phantasm, and Spooky.

Lately, my search comments have been simply about what arcs I am currently working on.
Strangely though, despite having a coherent comment, and having my search flag set to "Looking for Mission Team", it took around 2 hours tonight before I could finally get on a team with my level 47 Ice/Rad Controller. This was on Virtue, in Peregrine Island, starting around 7:30 in the evening, and broadcasting about every 5 to 10 minutes. It seems really unsettling that one can't get a team easily even on Virtue nowadays.
Then again, when I looked in the search window, it looked like there were only about 25 or so in the zone, and most of them were set to "Not Looking for a Group". Figured no point in bugging any of them due to a belief that no means no. -
My suggestion is to go smorgasboard. Try everything for a good 20 to 25 levels and then continue on with whatever characters you enjoyed the most.

Yeah. I love the Perfect Zinger proc. Pity it can't go into a neener field power like Rise to the Challenge. Then RttC would be like a Pepe LePew field when amongst a bunch of grays.

Quote:I do want to take this moment to remind every one that one proc that breaks these probabilities is Triumphant Insult: Chance to Disorient.Expanding to the 6 procs (we'll assume all at 20%) there is still a 26% chance (rounding numbers) that no proc at all will go off.
the chance that 1 proc will go off is : 39%
the chance that 2 procs will go off is: 25%
the chance that 3 procs will go off is: 8%
the chance that 4 procs will go off is: 1.5%
the chance that 5 procs will go off is: ~0.15%
the chance that 6 procs will go off is: 0.006%
These percentages are found by multiplying the chance a particular combination of firing and not firing will occur by the number of ways that the particular combination can occur.
That one in particular apparently has a 100% chance to never go off. -
Quote:What I have been wondering is...The name of the set bonus is what determines whether it counts against the limit of five of any set bonus. There are a few cases where the value is the same but the name of the set bonus is different.
Do bonuses that have the same name also always have the same value? -

Did you not notice that I had already confirmed that Macheath was taken? (and I still am not getting what that is a reference to).
I just added Macdeath as another random one to check on, since that was what the first there brought to mind. -
Dunno about Harvestman. That doesn't sound like an ultra obvious name.
As for Lord Crow, just remember that tacking on nearly any title greatly increases the chances of getting the name.
And for what it is worth now, on Virtue, Liberty, and Guardian, I just grabbed the name Crow Magnum (a big cavemanish type). -
Quote:Those are both taken. Yes. Should those be surprising or not? I wouldn't know, but I would guess surprising since I have no idea what they would be referencing.I suddenly wonder if there's anyone on Virtue with the name "Mackie Messer". I'll bet there's that and "Macheath".
I'd check, but I'm not at home!
And just as an FYI, Macdeath is taken as well. I am guessing he is a Shakespearian Zombies Mastermind. -
Q: Why does Irish Chili have only 239 beans?
A: Because one more would be two-farty.
(Okay, this joke works better spoken than written.) -
All I had to do was quit to desktop and then restart the game. The updater repaired the corrupted files without me having to do anything other than wait.
And a betting pool is now being opened on how many more of these threads will get started today despite there being plenty in several different areas right on those areas' first pages? -
The Hunt Council missions need to be adjusted so they can be either Council or 5th Column. Either that, or give us back a bunch of guaranteed Council spawn points.

Quote:For that RWZ mission where you have to rescue General Aarons, one trick is to lead him to a safe place (like the mission door), and then ditch him via stealth or super speed. It is also possible that once he is a combatant (aka been rescued), someone with Recall Friend or the Summon Teammate temp power can stand at the door and port him, then ditch him.Not in large teams but I've never done it solo either. The trick is to keep the person(s) they are following in the middle of the team, running to the opposite side of the ambushes, and keeping back when pulling from areas that might lead to a chain reaction. It takes a disciplined team to be sure but we had done all that just from our "never let the ally die" challenge we apply to all allies, not because we thought it would fail.
A mission that is nearly impossible for a large team but easy for 1-2 person teams is the Lady Jane mission in the Midnighter's arc. Hooboy - done it once out of a lot of tries but don't want to try again. -
Quote:I'm sorry to inform you that that concept is doomed. There are exploration badges in the PvP zones, Midnighter Club, Cimerora, and Ourburritos. Those zones are still level locked (Not sure if you can get access to the Midnighter Club by being teamed with someone else on the arc, but the others are definitely locked out). So if you want him to get them all, he will have to reach the appropriate levels. And that means earning XP.I don't have a claustrophobic character, but I've got Agoraphobic Man. He's not actually a hero; he has access to the mediport system because he's an outpatient on an experimental therapy for a congenital immune system defect. He grew up in a plastic bubble and is terrified of the outdoors...so he's trying to desensitize himself by exploring the city. The only powers he uses are Sprint and his bubble (PFF).
His purpose is to collect every exploration badge he can without ever gaining any xp. I need to dust him off again and go after the hazard zone badges that he can access now. -
