If you want to stick with a character and earn it actively over a very long career, that isn't impossible anymore.

Not idling for badges is a good addition, in my opinion. I just wonder why you think that's bad.
Ideally (for me) they would fix the various badge exploits and farms and then bring the requirements to a place where they can be earned within a year or so of playing the game with an eye towards earning the badges. I never thought they'd be able to do that and I doubt they've done it now. Without the exploits and farms dealt with, people will still use them and I believe more people will use them because now they won't have to leave their computer on over night for nine months.

I guess the devs are speaking and they want to take badges in this direction which is fine. Speaking for myself alone, it doesn't leave me much to do. I truly feel that I've experienced just about as much as I can in the game. If the badges that they come out with from now on take less than two weeks to obtain then I really really hope that any new content takes longer than two weeks before I feel like I've done it to death. So far my experience has been that that is not the case.

If this list is true then it comes pretty close to killing badge collecting as a long term post 50 mini-game. I hope the new content is compelling.

My own 2 cents is as it always is. If they lower requirements without fixing farms and exploits, badges become cheap and useless. This thought does not apply to the red side kill x badges like weatherman etc. as they do not need to lower the requirements but make the baddies more prolific.
  4. Rikti Comm Officers give lieutenant level rewards for minion level difficulty. You could run around the north end of the War Zone for +4 COs. Run in kill the CO and run away over and over. Don't know if it's the most efficient way but it's a possibility.

[edit] Pillboxes in RV give very good rewards but the pvp hassle may not be worth it for you. [/edit]

    Heal farms

When I did it I got a second account and just ran it with myself and advertised every night at the same time on LBx. At first there weren't too many people joining but eventually a decent number of people joined in consistently.
  6. Thanks Lothic. We were able to reliably get the badge when following that plan.

Also, since I was confuse on this point others might be too, you do not need 2 full teams of 5 for the pentad. You can do it with two people who are the same AT (so it puts you on different teams. If there's a way to control who gets put on what team, I didn't see it). As long as there is at least one person on each team you can start the match. Probably common knowledge but it took me a while to realize that. Cuz keen observation is not my super power.
  7. anyone else having problems not advancing even though you win the first rounds of a swiss tourney?

Also, and I'm sure this is true to some Devs more than others, they want you to experience all of the game they've created -- not just 2% of it in the doorway of a Freakshow mission or spending all your time beating on Illusionist. I'm sure they're proud of their creation, they think of all the amazing stories they've told and visuals they've produced, then look in game to see herding; it must be maddening.

This is all well and good in a perfect world where there is enjoyable new content coming out often enough to keep people interested but I don't think that there is. Many people have played just about all of the game, mostly many times over. Maybe we haven't all done it with every AT variation available, but running Tina Mcintyre for the eighth time with a stone tank rather than a kinetics defender isn't experiencing new content, it's just experiencing the same content differently, which for me isn't enough to hold my interest. I have to find something that keeps my interest in the game. For me that something is collecting badges, usually as quickly as I can because it's part of the fun.

Admittedly there are new arcs coming out every day with MA but as many have mentioned, it's fanfic and not canon and doesn't really hold the same weight. I will play it occasionally especially if I'm told by a friend that there's an arc that's really good but I won't often go looking for the gems myself.

I am all for a new dawn of badge hunting where there are challenging, non grindy badges that are fun and time consuming to hunt but what they have shown us with their MA badge fix doesn't show much creativity or thoughtfulness so I'll believe it when I see it.
  9. I think it would be nice to have two different anniversary badges. One that is static and is given for the earliest anniversary that a character was in existence for and one that is account wide that auto updates like a vet badge and shows the latest one obtained like x times the victor. I think that would satisfy most of the concerns written about here.
  10. I think it makes the most sense to have one set of time involved badges tied to an account and one set to a character if only to have both bases covered. It seems a little redundant to have both sets tied to an account.

How about this - something similar to the mentoring badges, but tied to teaming. For example, a "Team Player" badge or badge series for spending X (and Y and Z) number of hours on a full team of 8?

    Very afk farmable.

    Badge question

OB or team with someone who has the missions with the badges you need.
  13. My November-Charlie arc uses a deleted map (The Crey Revenant Program one - not sure why it was removed) so it is unplayable.

Due to a bug that only a very few people have and probably won't get fixed any time soon, I can't republish it without mapserving. If I use another network and/or ISP I can do it but I may not have the opportunity for a while.

More people had Zookeeper when its requirements changed. Given the removal of several avenues of crafting (brainstorms, invention to components, components to base items/empowerments, base salvage to components), a reduction is warranted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only if their original plans for how long it should take to get the badge included the other avenues you mention. If it was something they didn't consider and didn't want in the game then things are working as originally intended right now.

I got Fabricator without using empowerment crafts or components at all and got it within a couple weeks. I did do other things besides crafting. I don't think this is all that broken.
  15. Posi mentioned there will be many upgrades to the MA system in i15. Hopefully this will be addressed then.
  16. I'm in. Mine are:

    #35500 - Atlas Wept - 1 mission. Mildly humorous.
    #74255 - November-Charlie - Long, Story Driven. Discover why It's All a Nemesis Plot!

I too will play other people's arcs and I promise to click the stars.
  17. I played the Footsteps Initiative 6 times and am absolutely certain that it was HoF at the beginning and end of each run because I wouldn't have run it the next time if it wasn't. I got credit for 3 runs. Either it isnt tracking correctly or it went off and went back on the HoF list mid run and that caused it to not count 3 times.
  18. Maybe the badge community should just pick a few 4 star 999+ arcs and 5 star the hell out of em just so we can have a few of them to run.
  19. just had one on liberty after 6 hours 15 minutes-ish
  20. maybe its designed to ramp up in frequency as it gets closer to Halloween?
  21. I've been on liberty since 11 am and haven't seen one.
  22. [ QUOTE ]

This is the first time that a badge has been awarded to a player for NOT actively accomplishing something.

The day job badges, much like Empath and other Epic badges which encourage days, weeks and months of AFK farming, reward passivity on the part of a player toon. This is, in my mind, a clear break from the concept of badges in the CoX system - it represents a new quantifier in the game. This isn't about what your toon has done. It's about what your toon ISN'T doing - being logged in and being played.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is true only if you assume that the devs have not just accepted that the only reasonable way to get empath is by afk farming it.

The day jobs badges seem to say that they don't think that being afk (or even logged off entirely obviously) for badges is all that big of a deal. It may not be what was originally intended but its not an insult to their sense of morality either.
  23. Liberty has been declared the Strong and Pretty server. All characters must be Mace/EA. All other toons will be deleted as they do not meet the strict strong and pretty requirements.

    Thank you for your time.
  24. [ QUOTE ]

But if I could make a change to the badge system as a whole (and this is part of my general notion of how the badge system should be organized, which I've mentioned previously), Epic badges should be awarded to players across all their characters, much like Supergroup badges are awarded to SGs across all their members.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow. That makes way too much sense. I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet. (That I have seen anyway)

I really really love that idea.
