  2. Good to know that the story will go on. Although the chapter left a few question marks in my brain. I'm certainly not as familiar with CoH lore as the bunch of you guys, lol.

    Haha, fair enough.

Basically: Think the hasten effect on your hands, but on your feet instead. Then amplify that by x2. And since the feet are always close together the effect is always "joined" creating a really annoying glowing golden aura around your feet. I wish I had access to the game right now to post a screenie, lol.

It's most annoying for me since Super Speed is my travel power of choice on every single one of my toons >.< (except my warshade I suppose o.O)
The utility of the power (partial stealth, real fast horizontal travel especially I always have Combat Jumping as) overrides the annoying graphics....for the most part.

You forgot the second most annoying one after Hasten...Super Speed.
  5. You gotta be a little bit more specific than that. Any powers you do NOT want on the build? Any powers that you can't live without? Any care towards a specific epic?

Also: Is getting the Numina/Miracle uniques and some LotG 7.5 with reward merits and/or hero merits a problem?

Of the BAFS i have done lately what we've done is as followed.

    Team 1: Nightstar
Team 1: Bottom two of team 1 go to adds
Team 2: Top 3 go to nightstar, bottom 3 go to siege, 2 left go to adds.
    Team 3: Siege
Team 3: Bottom 2 go to adds.

Of course if the team leader wants to chose differently who goes where for their team then thats fair but seems to have worked so far.

Personally i dont like the tennis courts tactics [seen it used on defiant too] and much prefer the current MO runs we do all the time, all it needs is a slight tweak to make it perfect for all imo.

BAFs that I lead most often use the same tactic. Whether it's a Mo run or regular tennis court run. I assign the last two of very team to bunker at the north spawning point and take out the ambushes as they spawn. That way everyone gets the iXP for them, and you occasionally get the merit for "Strong and Pretty" as well. Of course, I try to balance the teams when the trial first starts so this doesn't hinder any of the teams.

    EDIT:

I have personally used that tactic a few times on my leagues as well. It's perfect for the balance of iXP and drops. The only problem with it (aside from the fact that reading is really hard for some people) is that there is a turret at about 2 o'clock from the door that keeps taking rapid pot shots people who stands further than 10 feet off the door itself which can (will, if it decides to target a squishy. My poor blaster was nailed by this 4 times in a row on one run, lol) lead to more deaths.
Of course, the obvious solution is to disable to turret. But that means losing the Astral merit from that badge.
It's a win some, lose some situation I suppose.

But all in all, the biggest problem with any strategy, is how people plain ignore directions given. Which is the prime reason I have given up on trials long ago and only rarely run them now.

  9. As far as I can remember 95% of the time patch notes are posted hours after the actual patch happens. Usually up to 6 or so hours after.

As for the Launcher needing to restart I'm not too sure why's that. Maybe your launcher itself actually updated itself? Usually that sort of stuff requires it to restart. Never saw it asking for restart after a game patch.

Hmm.. I will have to check this out, thanks for the tip.
  11. Ok, so I changed some powers around and came up with two variations of the build. I tried to make both builds as cheap as I could without actually breaking the build. There are things like Numi/Miracle uniques and LotG 7.5s, but those should be easily obtainable via the use of Reward merits and Allignment merits.

I kept Siren's Song and Shockwave since they're both great tools for solo play. Siren's song so you can sleep a mob and pick them off one by one, and Shockwave as an "Oh, ****" button to throw off some mobs off you. I dropped the Nuke, since in all honesty I think the sonic Nuke especially is very lacking. All it does is piss the mob off, lol. I also switched your travel power from Super Jump to Super Speed. Simply to save you having to buy a Celerity or Unbounded Leap stealth IO to slot in Sprint. Super Speed + Shadow Fall, or Sprint (with Stealth IO) + Shadow Fall = great stealth. So you can stealth to glowies/clickies/boss and the such, or sneak up on a mob without them noticing you so you can open with Siren's Song. If the Stealth IO is easily obtainable to you as well (2 allignment merits) you can simply just swap around Hasten and Combat Jumping and put Super Jump back in.

First has 34% Ranged defence should extend your survivability by quite a bit. 20% To everything else as well, then you have 45% Resistance to smashing and lethal as well. Nice recharge, too.

  12. I saw people having trouble softcapping an SS/SD brute. So I'm posting the build that mine is running with. I can tank STF with him just fine with use of inspirations against LR and if I'm taking all 4 AVs at once. Can't say I tried LRSF on him.

Even though he has Aid Self, I find myself rarely using it. I think it's mainly because he is my only toon with it and I'm just not used to having it. I just tend to eat a green when I need it.

  13. Yeah, Praetoria feels a lot slower than playing on Primal earth for me as well. Good luck with your scrapper though. KM is a fun set and Shield is just good regardless :P
My live is a KM/Elec but I played a 50 KM/SD on test before and even on just SOs it was quite a fun toon to play with.

Not that it has anything to do with this topic, but I have to disagree. The free Skype calls are almost a daily thing for me and my friends while playing CoH in lieu of using Ventrilo/Teamspeak.

That someone is just plain wrong.

My Fire/Cold corruptor could solo GMs before i19 came around. My Friend's Rad/Sonic defender could solo GMs before I19 came around. Traps/Sonic defenders could solo GMs before I19 came around. I have personally seen these builds do it long before any incarnate powers came around. And none of those use any sort of pets.
Oh, all three toons solo'd GMs with no temps and no inspiratios, either.

Just because someone "Ran the numbers" doesn't mean they know what they're talking about. What Katie_V said is what's needed to solo GMs, nothing more. A good -Regen power, and enough survivability in your toon to be able to take the GM's attacks as well as a decent attack chain. Doesn't even need to be a "high end DPS" attack chain. My Corr's chain is certainly no where near optimized.

As for your wish for your blaster, I don't know what type of blaster you're running, or what kind of build you have. Or if you're doing this with no temps/insps or not. But it's certainly more than possible to "punch a GM in the face and not die instantly". /MM blasters have been able to solo GMs for a looong time now. And yes, before incarnate powers came around either. And if you have a decent defence based build, you can do it with no temps/insps either.
  16. Are you married to having Summon Disruptor and Web Coccoon? IMO much better to swap them out for Amplify and Assault. How about Shockwave? Acrobatics? The end crashing Nuke?

I'm not sure what powers you wanna keep on your build for both your playing style (are you a solo toon or a teaming toon?) and your theme. If you can tell me what powers you can switch over, or if you really want all the powers you have in the build above I can work out a build for you.

You're thinking Ice Control, not Cold Domination. Only toggle in Cold Dom is Snow Storm.

Jack of All Trade is why /dark is so popular. Dark can debuff just about everything to some degree on top of having a defense toggle, a pet healer/holder, AoE Heal, and some controll.

Unlike Ice, Dark also picks up its location debuff very early on (Tar Patch vs Sleet).
I will have to agree with this.

Kill the launcher and the download.
Copy the contents of your main CoH folder into the newly created test folder.
    Delete any .checksum files.
Restart the the launcher for Test. Allow it to patch what's there.

This way you wind up with a patch that takes minutes instead of an install that takes hours.

Yeah, I'm aware of this. That was how I first installed the test server. But NCSoft launcher refused to update it after I upgraded from the old launcher, so I tried a clean install, which also didn't work.

I'm sorry, not sure I understand. The download actually happens. The Launcher will download the full client. But once it reaches 100%, instead of installing the game then, it will simply revert to 0% and start downloading all over again. And this just keeps happening endlessly.

Valkyrie is a Regen. And she uses MoG. The NPC MoG lasts for ever and then a week. Which is reaaaaaaaaally annoying if you ask me. Especially on that damn Manticore TF.
Valkyrie in LRSF, I tend to kill her last, then run away and leave her behind the moment she rezzes, since that's when she uses MoG.
  21. I'm having a problem with those instructions. The Launcher just keeps downloading the client over and over and over and never actually installing it. Can any help me fix this issue?
  22. Why change a power by introducing a "fix" that's majorly flawed like that? This just makes absolutely no sense, and it is quite alarming for you might do similarly in the future. The power has been as is since I20 went live. It won't kill you to leave it like this till you can change it to work "WAI" without screwing something else up (something rather major I might add).

Also, if it was acting in rain powers like this as a result of a "bug", teach your QA people to not say it's WAI when it's not, kthxbai.

EDIT: Love the patch notes, some rather nice things in there. Although I'm not too happy about the actual conversion rates for the Notice/Favor of the well, it's still nice.
  23. Thanks for all the suggestions...lots of great ideas for toons here.
  24. All I have to say is that I agree that 1 target limit on interface is taking it way overboard.
