Quote:I would also be one of those "I has it allz!" accounts when it comes to the addon packs. When I saw the new stuff I about faceplanted on my poor KB. I'm not sure I'd get them if they were Free honestly. That backpack is retardedly expensive. I mean that in the nicest way. It needs to come down or go on sale before I'll consider buying it. This is coming from someone who has every other pack (and I got them when they were $9.99 and not 400 points). Yes even the origins and party packs.
That backpack alone is $1.00. Meaning that backpack is worth 1/5 of an entire costume pack now that may have 50-80 costume pieces. I know people have spent that money on it. But there are lots of things on the market right now that I'm not going to touch at their current prices. This backpack is among them (other things include costume slots and enhancement slots).
And before you suggest I use my monthly points on it, I'm saving those for powersets that come out -- and packs like the Barbarian pack which I actually did buy because it's fairly priced. -
Quote:Yeah, that board is quite annoying w/ toggle toons. :-(I'm not sure why it's useless after level 4. I mean, it's faster than fly at all levels. Unless you're playing a toggle-heavy character you could, in theory, just use the rocket board instead of a travel power from 1 to 50 and be fine. You might LOOK silly doing it on some characters, but that's another matter.
But hey, it's a non-power-slot using fly! -

Quote:Pssst, it's the new feature they added so that we have to buy enough pp to get us tokens filled up to the point that the "Clear Fog" (forget the real name) power is unlocked. ;-)Symptom: Post-Issue 21's release, players who have had city zone maps "explored" and fully viewable on the Map function are now finding the whole zone dark again. Any explorations of the map are removed once the user zones to a new area.
Issue: This is the third time where the map function's "Fog of War" (where a city zone's map is grayed out, indicating non-exploration) has broken. Previous instances have indicated that there is a global "ceiling limit" in how much fog of war data can be stored. Each time this has broken, that limit has been raised to accommodate the new areas.
Has anyone seen this behavior on characters that have had most, if not all, of the city zones fully explored and opened up? Chime in here to add your experiences, please. -

Heh, I could get fired at work for pulling a stunt like that. It's considered "Working off the clock", but then again they've been so "compliance" happy this past year it's rediculous.

Anyone else notice that they sent free Guildwars and Lineage 2 codes out? I haven't checked my game related email account, but I noticed an Activate "X" button for each title.

As a player I'm casual in that I don't come on at any specific time, for any particular reason (unless there's a timed-badge), or for any specific length of time. I RP in that my toons all have backstories and many are intertwined between eachother and even the SG(s) I've created over the years (I consolidated in i12/i13 before retirement).
As for the server, a number of us were jokingly calling it the 'retirement' server for people with alt-itis to the point that they'd filled their account to the max (not everybody necessarily paid for slots) and had enough sentimentality left in the toon to preserve it. From the sounds of it, after a few months, it'll likely just turn into a single-named alt wasteland filled with CoX lifers or Elitists. There's always hope for a true, more wholesome playerbase, but I'm not betting the inf-farm on it. ;-) -
Not that I've checked, but I thought that this was openned up to anyone so long as a group leaders had bases (and permissions) that had the Raid porter working for use my team mates.

I'm not Trying to start anything, but what's with all the one-word names? I didn't count, but of the names across these VIP threads, probably 75% of them are single-word names.
-
Yes I remember the troublemaker V.M. back in the i1-i2 days... ;-)
But I'm all Pinn, Spawn and Leveled through and through. Or generally casual enough of a player that's invested to the point that I'm too lazy move to another server. Well, that and what I said in my thread I started in the VIP parent folder. :-p -

Quote:I'm surprised you got it the first time as I'd have thought it would be on the RESERVED list (for whatever reason).MARTy
I actually had this name last night (it was the first one I grabbed) and when I deleted it to make the costume, the system locked me out of getting it back. I tried getting it back for hours and it kept letting me reserve it but not use it. I'm hoping that whoever grabbed it when the system finally released it will see this and let me have it back. -
Actually I was confused as I got the sense that it was related to an SG/VG, but normally having the word "POOF" at the end of a line infers that something went *POOF*, away, gone, bye-bye,.....
You might wanna have it changed to P.O.O.F. ;-) -
I forget the name(s), but I'm sure someone else will link in...
You get atleast one badge just for creating a toon right now/launch that's global for your account. It's in the i21 info thread somewhere. Doorbuster I think? There May be more than that, but I forget. -
Quote:This only because there are some people Sooooo attached to their toon names that they reserve them on every server. Ok, so I did that for my Old global name, but come to find out that's even Super-Extremely-Rare online(as I've only ever had a single hit on google that wasn't me in the 10+yrs I've had it) so I'm not concerned personally. :-pI wouldn't count on it staying that way, once the Name land-rush is over I suspect a lot of players will migrate back to their "home" servers. While I don't doubt that Exalted will remain a popular server, having 5+ Atlas instances isn't likely to be a common occurrence in a few weeks time

Quote:There are some people that think of a toon name before the rest of their toon concept and want it for later so they'll create that level 1 toon. Long ago there were times when not lvling that toon to like 10 would risk the loss of the name, but I don't think that game function's been used in ages from the sounds of the threads I've read this year. You know....now that I think about it......of all the names I've tried that were already taken, I don't think I've ever seen any of those characters. I was told by a few that the name probably isn't a real character, and that the person just didn't want anyone else to have it, or something like that.
For example, like once of my choices earlier, that I missed: Someone creates Intense, but leaves him at level 1 and never plays him, preventing anyone from getting the name. (Unless you use Entense, but that isn't the same)
There's one exception, and it was a Knightblade that I met on Champion a few years ago. He'd had the character since beta. -
Quote:Don't you lose the so many per member perk if they're deleted? When making a new SG, i created 3 toons (with basic stories) just to get the 20k per member thing.
I thought i'd list the names here, because I would be willing to part with them if anyone actually wanted them...They are only sitting there atm afterall.

The signature thread! ;-)
So...
1) Who made a toon on this server JUST to get the related badge(s)?
2) Do you plan on staying? Why/Not?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Yes;
2) Not bloody likely because I'd like the ABILITY to play for free now and then without the issue of having the toon I wanna play locked on a pay-to-play server.
I can deal with incarnate and AE disabled if for whatever reason I can't/don't pay for that period of time, but not being able to access the toon at all is a deal-breaker. The VIP server is for people who are CoX lifers ;-). You know who you are!!! :-p
Disclaimer: No I'm not saying it's a bad/mean thing, I'm just saying some people will never leave the subbed version of the game until the servers go perma-offline (or the players themselves do :-X). -
You have to admit, Pinn has to be one of the more bar-esque channels as I've seen many not so nice sucker punching over the years and even a couple long held grudges. That said, atleast it's not full of L33t and other B.S. I've seen on XBL or the non-hero MMO.

Quote:Don't worry, it'll grow when people get tired of having to XxxXL33t_Xx their names on virtue. ;-)Taking advantage of the 6 transfers for 6 bucks offer. Moving 2-3 to start. To be blunt, the server is shrinking and this will only add to it.
Also:
There's no way I'm going to migrate toons to a server that requires me to pay to gain access. I don't care if I am prepaid until April, if I want to take a month/summer/year off from upper level content or just save some money, I'm not going risk having toons I want to play on a locked server. On top of that I have two (going on three because I can) groups I have Redstar on and I'm surely not going to start from scratch migrating Those over. It'd be ok if there was a server copy-SG option or a non-casual group-playerbase, but not with a move-toon option and no SG level migration option.
That said, I think the devs gave up on groups/bases shortly after CoV came out if not sooner. :-( -

Quote:I've never seen your error but...There's been a memory leak for....years however tonight I got this message after running the new UG trial. Upon completion it said:
./piggs/stage1b.pigg: Failed memory allocation
Read failed for file: texture_library/WORLD/Villain_lairs/tech/computers/tek1_comp_board1.texture

The game ran out of memory and must now exit.
The game's had memory leaks since before my 'retirement' between i12-i13. There's another thread on here that helps to clarify that it's related to x86 (32bit) and memory addressing even if you're on an x64 system. From my understanding, windows doesn't know how to (perhaps even see) over a certain amount of memory. IE: if you install a x86 OS on a system that has 4Gb of ram it'll only see like 3.5Gb of it. If I recall correctly, you also have to consider how much VRAM your GPU has as well.
My experience has shown that the game will start anywhere between 1.0Gb/1.0Gb (Physical/Virtual) to 1.9Gb/1.9Gb during operation and higher numbers the longer it's on. Anytime I notice that my fan is running high I'll toggle over to notice that the numbers are atleast 1.5Gb/1.5Gb (noting that my GPU has 256Mb of VRAM) and if the game crashes, it's ALWAYS atleast that high.
This problem seems to hit faster if I have my browser open and then there's the current Titan Sentinal process hogging bug (TIP: only run it when you want to update your badges until they can fix it). FB crashes IE on me all the time now due to its crappy memory management too. If you're going to have a browser window open and have this, then make sure that you only have new tabs (copy the link you want to be on, close browser, paste link) and only a couple.
Overall I've seen the game's memory usage increase 50% after each of the two major updates (CoV, GR) and smaller increments (maybe 5%) each issue. It's getting a bit big for its britches and needs either a better garbage collector or some serious optimization.
Note: I used to be able to run atleast two instances back in the CoV days at the "Recomended" GFX settings, but now I have to drop into the lowest setting in order to be able to see anything(if I toggle the first instance goes black except for the UI). This is partially related to my GPU/comp's age/spec-limitations. -
Not that I think it'll work, but try the "Reset your NCSOFT Master Account password" trick (the post-patch trick that gets you Back into the forums) for the hell of it.
