When doing major base revisions I tend to see this alot honestly. Between my revisions, the timing, and whatever lag has occured between me and the server, there always seems to be a delay in the game keeping accurate track of prestige. I've even had to go so far as logging out for like half an hour before it gets balanced server side. So if you ever wonder why the prestige number in the editor looks off, then that's likely the issue. now if it says something like </= 0, then it's time to either pay more attention to what you just created or /petition the issue.

Crap, that means that the whole base storage limit thing was my fault to begin with because that's when I retired (from game) originally. Hrm, I guess the game going F2P would by the result of me coming back then too. Noooooooo...now I'm never allowed to leave!!! But who will push the buttons and keep the base lights on when I pass from this lifetime to the next? :-p

I really would love to be wrong on this, please tell me I'm wrong and you can place/remove items from coalition storage. Please?
No, what they're probably talking about is what many multi-account users likely do (atleast the ones I talk to ingame). They have account A with a base that eventually gets full so they use account B to create base for the sole purpose of personal (or group) storage. If anyone wants something from the overflow base, then they have to log into account B, grab desired stuff, meet up with person wanting stuff, do a character-item-trade, and all is well.

The same trick is also used to get alts from one account all into the same base without the need of a 2nd person every time.

I agree with TJ though, you definitely want to free up some space if you're at or below 10%. Defrag needs at least 15% free to run (and you definitely want to run this on a regular basis), and you may want to try shooting for higher than that if you have any especially large files hanging around (HD video, for instance).
I noticed this right away. And not just on the system drive, but on every drive in that PC?!? I was kinda tempted to make a pron joke, but eh.

As for the memory issue, this has actually been discussed many times (or atleast the number of times I recall responding to) and this is basically what you're looking at.

Win7 likes to take about 1Gb-1.5Gb of memory. The game likes to take between 1Gb-2Gb of memory. Throw in however much memory your GPU has and throw that into the whole OS memory equation (taking into account that it doesn't matter how much VM you set, windows will take more if it wants to) and you'll see how it's entirely possible that you could be hitting a wall. Now I've run Win7 x64 w/ 4Gb RAM on a laptop before (with barely anything else running) and had no issue so I'm kinda leaning towards the limited HDD space and recent game server issues.

Edit: just noticed the "Steam" installation path and Texas' post on Defragging. I'd take things down (into safe mode) for a while and kill any Virtual Memory/Hybernation files followed by a full defrag/scandisk of each drive. See if that doesn't help you quite a bit on performance. I had to do something similar to dad's pc because he let it get to the point that it was >20% fragmented and the System partition was nearly full due to windows updates and temp files.

My guess is that it may have something to do with why the servers went down. Either way relogging after a brief period of time always seems to flush things out.

This works for the most part, but deleting seems to work best as for some reason there's always those pesky items that just refuse to move from room to room.

Yeah, but the point is that we'd like the old storage capacity back. :-/

I (and likely more than half the community) would rather them plunk down an offline Character Creator and Base Editor than get involved in something like Mids. As mentioned above, since Mids was a player created project from the beginning, then any action on NCSoft's part would appear to be some level of favoritism and result in lots of bad ju-ju. Besides, it would be one More thing to take away from their resources available for things like new issues and actual requested QoL stuff (IE: feedback from beta/test).

Being one who's misread before myself I need to point out that I was saying the opposite of what you thought I had said...

As for the example of possible favoritism, I was trying to give an example of what could be construed as NCSoft supporting say Titan Network over Badge Hunter. While it's obvious that this isn't an issue, there's always somebody that has to cry foul if they were to make an official offer of support. Staying neutral is the safest business decision in that respect.

Edit: And by character creator I mean that first step everyone does when starting the game for the first time, not something like creating a character build in Mids.

God I wish there were and option as the active list gets cluttered with old contacts even after you've outleveled them. Definitely on my list of "would be nice".

Yeah, the builtin windows troubleshooter is more like calling india for tech support without the phone. ;-)
    4) Download new drivers, but tough to do, since I can't type in the model numbers, and I don't want to pay for a driver finder (not like I could put in any info anyways)
Not a fan of those anyway as your issue is likely failed ports/host at this point.
When stuff like this happens and simply reinstalling the drivers for both the Host and any USB devices doesn't work, then it definitely sounds like the ports are fried. Hopefully it's just the ports, but this has the chance of being an early symptom of a dying board. Keep that in mind when pricing fixes
  14. Is it sad that I miss these sort of random events? Obviously not for the "lack of ability to play" side effect, but more for the group-think that occurs when trying to figure out what's up. :-p

From the sounds of it, this sort of setup seems to balk at City for some reason. Likely because it's not switching to the nVidia chip fast enough.

If you find a setting in the software, then by all means post the details so that others with similar chipsets have something to go by!
  16. Power User Tip

When base editing, especially when changing room dimensions, it's helpful to choose a larger base plot until you're done editing. Granted you have to have the required Prestige, but it saves alot of tricky room rotation issues.

    On-Topic

I would love to have more storage, but 18 is generally more than enough or atleast was until they knocked them down to 30 items per storage unit. :-/

Heh, I did the same glowie warp-core like thing inbetween my porters too!
  18. If something's stuck in a wall, you can also use the Tab key to toggle between items in a room. Once you've got the invisi item selected, then you can simply hit the Delete key and be done. If there's something keeping you from deleting a room, then it's likely a crafted item as the editor will let you delete a fully formed room so long as all the items didn't come from a character's personal crafting pouch.

    New Podium Room!

5-7hrs? You must have had something worked out in advance on paper already. :-p

Alas, I really wish they'd fix the (from below) invisi floors issue when making multiple floors in a room.

Not that I've tested, but this seems to be the most logical answer considering what the others have said so far.

I thought that this thread was going to be about the best Sort Order or something like "what is the lvl Sort Order" and was ready to list what I'd done. If you'd like what I put then let me know as I'm not the best with screenies, but I can figure something out or worst case do something on CoH-Faces.
  21. Are we talking about the Patrol XP? IE: the shaded bars of xp that accumulate while the character is offline. When you log back in and earn (25%?) more xp until it's used up.

While I'm not always certain of much, this I do remembe being 100% accurate. That's why they've always had the "are you Absolutely sure...because you can't undo this action" kind of text when using them.

IE: Since I knew that I wasn't ever going to play on another server, long ago I went ahead and banked all my slots on Pinn. Knowing that I would likely end up Preem, I decided not to assign any slots to Exalted.
  24. Just a little aside...

Back in the y2k days (when I was really into building PCs) ATI had really good All-in-one Radeon cards that were great for multimedia viewing/editing, but once the AMD thing happened they kinda went down hill in terms of high end graphics. That's why you hear about nVidia so much, they seem to focus on the gaming/graphics community, but you gotta watch your temps and keep em cool!

Which is one reason my Guides (listed below) talk about installing to a totally different directory than the default. It's just one less headache and most malware is focused on the protected directories so AV software shouldn't bug you either.
