Sure, but you'll notice that the game will still end up redownloaded everything. Safest thing to do is to tell the launcher to install the game, go a way for a while (don't let it goto sleep/hybernate), and check back in an hour or so depending on your DL rate. Staged downloading tends to frustrate most people who attempt to play the game right away it seems.

Heh, yeah...there's also this little write-up I did. :-p -
Like the others are hinting, if you're not doing it already, then hit the Update Now button in the launcher and let it run. You may need to try disabling your AV/ISS software until it's done as sometimes that helps.

considering the tech is ubber new, I figured there might be some driver delay, but I don't see there being a major issue if the Z68's already supported. If I did it, then I'd be running native on a 2nd drive.
Also, since for some oddball reason the Mac forum's locked out for non-VIP, is there any chance somebody could mention/reference this in there if they got a chance? -
how long does it take a pouch to get to you from EU/JP? If you know somebody on the same continent with normal internet, then they could burn a current image of the game onto a DVD-R and send em to you ('cause data costs you $$$ right?). Then it's just a matter of verifying files.

Based on this pending build, do you think that it would actually run OSX Leopard (or Lion for that matter)? I'll probably try it out on a test drive for the heck of it, but figured I'd ask what everyone else thought. I figure the hardest part would be drivers, but since that OS was the first to make the intel transition there's always a chance.

Pre-Freedom...lots of *headdesk*
Post-Freedom...lots of in-chan WTF?!? -

Quote:So...it's still temperature related, but CoX is the only one that's pushing your hardware enough to reach them. I wonder if it's possible that different drivers may result in lower temps (optimization effect)?Haven't had the computer a month yet, but I did check that and it was not that. Also it is not random. I played Champions for hours on end and then played City of heroes on all suggested setting and only COH makes my computer power off. Seems the LED temp has to be at 76 and no more than 80.

Quote:This is my first thought on any system nomatter the OS.1. I don't see any image.
2. This sounds like a hardware/OS thing, not something that City Of Heroes is doing specifically.
Hmm, just thinking out loud, but are you sure it's not shutting down due to high CPU temperature? Some motherboards (maybe all of them nowadays) have this feature. -
I'm with Forbin on this one as we had such discussions just prior to Freedom and that is the response I remember hearing. Likely because of the whole "never say never" thing in an evolving business.

Quote:Considering WHO controls the axe, that reference makes loads of sense. ;-)Indeed. Stargate Universe had great potential, but SyFylis is the new Fox: cancelling shows before their time. Just look at their track record so far: Farscape, Caprica, SGA, and as we're discussing, SGU. Hell, Blood & Chrome was gonna be promoted to a "real show" but that plan was also axed.
You mean all the wrestling and cooking shows and Megashark? -
Quote:Not to sound snarky, but please clarify. Do you mean that you uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled, did a cold boot OR you completely wiped the drive and reinstalled everything from scratch?Soooo *laughs Nervously* Spamware aside I did a clean boot 100% new and shiny XD
And its still happening
I don't know what to do...I honestly don't.
Is it RAM? I tested that..
Could it be my heat sync?
Graffics card?
CHANGED BOTH THE COH HELPER AND HIJACK THIS to match new system setup

That first part looks like the actual debug window contents, Tex.

Quote:I "retired" from CoX back when I started my BS degree after taking a few years off post AS degree. That took me about 2yrs to get and I spent the last bit of leftover "good grades" money I got from the school to sub just prior to Freedom. Now had I lost any of my names in that short of time because of threads like this, even though I figured I'd never come back, then I'd have to personally come thwap the supporters in the heads.I would argue that by the end of this year, Freedom will have been out long enough for the people who are likely to return to have returned by then.
People leave for different reasons and after a while can even forget about CoX, but then you find that email hiding in an old dusty inbox from your cancelled sub and find yourself searching for old friends. Wouldn't you like your room the way you left it if you came back? -

Honestly, it wasn't until the last year (when I returned after a couple years off) that I even had any memorable name issues...
I forget what it was, but there was this one really cool one I made on beta and got bummed when it was already taken on live. -
I'll probably get thwapped, but I really wish they'd kept going with the last installment.

Quote:Actually it's a little more sensative than that, BUT...it's way easier to fix than that sounds. Simply put, it involves a touchtone phone, patience to deal with an automated system (still easier than That sounds), and the ability to see and type. I've probably done that 2-3 times in the last year (ok, so I lost track of which laptop had which license...) and the whole double checking the verification numbers is what took the longest. The hardware activation isn't THAT sensitive. You basically have to swap 3/4ths of the system components to trip it, and if you do, you simply call the activation line and tell them your CPU and motherboard died in a freak lightning storm and you've replaced them. It's STILL the same machine.
Quote:Instead of needing to take 4-8-hours to reinstall everything AGAIN if you blow a drive, you simply mount the new drive, fire up Acronis and drop the original image back onto the system in an hour or two. Then just patch it to current, reimage it, and keep truckin'.
I'm sure that Acronis must be decent as it was mentioned, but something I found out the hard way was that Win7 uses a different version of NTFS than XP and my older cloning software couldn't see the drive to clone my mom's laptop when she got it. I had to deal with the builtin windows backup that worked, but when I had to use it to restore her system (I forget what the issue was, probably a bloody IE toolbar she DL) it resulted in losing the system's recovery partition (that 200mb partition Win7 creates on a fresh install).
For reference, I've been using Avanquest's Partition Commander and Perfect Image for a number of years now.
As for XP Mode, unless you're wanting to run something that requires 3D graphics, then you could also create a virtual machine separate from XPM so that you don't screw that up, but unless we know What you're wanting to preserve, then there's no way we can give you an absolute answer. IE: There's no way for me to run my circa Win95 games on anything beyond true XP and since I still love them, then that's a killjoy. That said, unless it's a laptop, then I could just nab a small drive to put XP on. Dual-boot works, but it can get annoying after a while and if you do it install the older OS first. -
If typos killed people, then apple would be on the top of the list of companies to sue considering how often their texting app screws up. Atleast, that's what I see on FB atleast 100 times a week. Besides, how many bodies do you think they actually dedicate to typos?

I generally avoid Home versions like the plague. As for version, I tend to stick to professional as the only reason to get Ultimate is if you're doing something that requires file encryption. If you're a student, then you can actually get Pro for free btw through the (previously known as) MSDNAA system.
