Villain side is diminishing? News to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Virtue, weeks after server transfer goes live, isn't *exactly* the standard for all server growth/decay.

[/ QUOTE ]Guardian, at least villain-side, isn't doing so hot. Makes me glad me and my boyfriend rolled up our heroes on Infinity.

    This is -amazing-.

    Cryptic coolness

I'm really glad I got a massive student discount for Maya, 3D Studio Max, the Adobe Creative Suite, Macromedia Studio 8, and all that Microsoft stuff for about $600.

    "Moral Combat"

I'm extremely disappointed that an image of Statesman would be used in such a way. I know that we designed City of Heroes to appeal to "children of all ages." My proudest accomplishment with the game is that many parents (including my brother) play with their children...sharing, I hope, the same joy for the comic book world that I've had ever since I was 8. I cannot express the shock that I felt seeing that a character created by Cryptic would be used in the same sentence as Columbine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Statesman is the iconic representation of a game where people kill other people with huge broadswords and fireballs with attacks named things like 'head splitter' and 'disembowel', so it is kind of a waste of time to play innocent victim. 99% of the content in City of Heroes is violence. It is the only way to solve any mission in any area of the game. To act shocked and dismayed about it is beyond hypocrisy.

[/ QUOTE ] Where there isn't gore, where the characters bounce around like pinballs, most moves are extremely exaggerated, and a surplus of particle effects bounce all over the screen. Some particles are big enough to fight "BAM" and "BOOM" in them.

Yet, under that, and sometimes not as easily seen, is the fact that fictional characters are being defeated so that other fictional characters can live on happily. The Faultline arc really shows this. Still.

Absolutely nothing in this game compares to real life violence. Nothing in FEAR, even when I hit slow mo and lob a grenade at an enemy and watch them break into pieces and an explosion of blood in frightening detail, nor any other game, compares to just watch people in real life. Maybe it's just me, but videogame violence only desensitizes me to more video game violence. I've blown up thousands of cars in various games, I've thrown my worshipers into walls and sacrificed their children before their eyes for my own power, yet...

...it still shocks me when I see a car accident. Even after all that Resident Evil, I find real diseases to be far more frightening. There's more than a small difference between what's real and what's fake. I wish more people could see this.

[censored], I posted in this thread.

It's nice to see more than just Dominator players refuting that statement. Thanks.

    [/ QUOTE ]Agreed. Heh.

Man, I -laughed- when I read that Statement. I played up my lllusion/Radiation controller around Issue 1's release, I sure as Hell remember soloing bosses like they were cake.

When I eventually rolled my Gravity/FF controller... Oh yes. Seriously, my low level controllers most certainly out-damage my low level dominator. That line was a bunch of BS.

    ...Okay, hard to argue here.

Smashing/Lethal. There's a *lot* of smashing/lethal heavy damage sets in CoV.

    The bane of Masterminds everywhere.
-Have an AoE power that creates a burn patch for everything it hits. Villain, HENCHMEN, ForceField Generator, whatever. They can effectively stack infinite burn patches.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Has it come to the point that the AI is officially smarter than the players? The AI will do what it can to move out of the spot that is on fire....

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not when stuck in animation. Full auto has a six second long animation. Also note that ninjas freak the mighty Hell out when set on fire and do a lovely job running all over the place and aggroing extra spawns. Yeah, set the ninjas in passive? Well, when they're attacking something irregardless of disposition they'll react to the fear in the fire patches.

-Can come in multiples in each spawn, unlike sappers which are regulated to one per spawn, maximum.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's two per spawn for sappers. At least get your facts straight? And as for their drain I've not seen them use it multiple times unlike a sapper who I'll not also has a hold power that the Longbow Spec Ops lacks.

[/ QUOTE ]Sappers are supposed to spawn one per group. Recently I've run missions with two or more sappers per group, but I believe this is a bug as for the longest time they were one per group.

All these reasons are why they are worth more XP than normal.

[/ QUOTE ]And all these reasons while piled on top of each other make them absolutely *no* fun to fight.

Yes, play a ninja mastermind to 40! Come watch as your henchmen with +SPD are either killed by the Ignite patches or are sent flying about the room to aggro other mobs. Fun and excitement all around; good times for the whole family!

I can't think of a reason why the devs would want to "avoid" having level 50's generate extra prestige. It sounds like a perfect reward for maxing out your character, to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why would you want anything other than level 50's in your SG then?

[/ QUOTE ]As frightening as it is...

I agree with Positron on this issue (although I could give him a piece of my mind about a certain mastermind bug).

Why not let level 50s gain more prestige than a 20? Because they already do.

A level 50 will kill faster and stronger enemies than that level 20. When it comes to the point where inf turns into prestige, the 50 does not have to worry about their own income because they're probably already set.

In actuality CoV is a STAND ALONE EXPANSION to CoH

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't think these two things can be true at the same time...

How can a game be stand-alone AND an expansion?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you own CoH, it is similar to an expansion.

If you do not own CoH, it is stand-alone.

    [ QUOTE ]

Thell me, Soe's expansion packs, are they playable without the base game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, but I already have CoV's base game in CoH. Kind of a moot point to anyone who isn't buying CoV first.

[/ QUOTE ]No, really, you don't. You have the sister game to CoV.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

Wait a second, so now the story is that we can't have bases at all unless we get CoV too ???

I remember reading in a statesman post that said bases would be coming out for CoH when CoV came out. But from the sound of this we dont get any bases at all ?

[/ QUOTE ]I distinctly remember Statesman saying we WON'T get bases unless we purchase CoV. He's been consistent this whole time.
  14. The point of the Interspacial Link powers is not to be used in forms. They're to buff up the human form and make it into a tank-mage on an eight-man team. The range sucks on it, I agree, but you won't be seeing that ability in forms.
  15. Wow, you guys really are working to fix defense sets. Will Force Field ever see some sort of resistance like this? Perhaps not in the targetted bubbles, but in Dispersion Bubble?
  16. I'd also like to know why these have to be gender-specific.

What about bad-[censored] military chicks? And I'm certain with the right cape and coloring, that Blood Widow helmet could look pretty sweet on a guy (in fact, I was planning on this).
  17. As far as I know there are *no* plans to raise the level cap.
  18. I roleplay if the people around me do. *nods.* I love to roleplay, and will gladly SK/RSK with a fellow RP'er.

EDIT: In case you're wondering, yes, I play on Guardian. Heh. Just wanted to make sure you know. >.>
  19. Solved? No, just another person's hypothesis. It's a good hypothesis, but nothing more. It's not a solution... unless there's some dev-quoting I missed.
