Quote:Well that's misleading. Crabs have Fortifaction which is mag 8 at level 50 along with the mag 4 from Crab Spider. Widows/Fortunatas both have access to Indomitable Will which iirc is mag 10 at level 50.Out of curiosity, do you realize how much magnitude status protection VEATs get?
It's 4. Unless you take two powers, then I suppose it's 6. Big fragging difference.
So huntsman and bane builds are left at mag 6. -
id go for this if only because i cant stand how hideous ice/stone armors are.

Quote:im going by what i saw from combat attributes, shows it stacking.IIRC, it doesn't stack with itself. This was a side effect of finding a way to prevent it from stacking when you hit multiple opponents with it. However, that may not be accurate since I read that way back when it first hit beta and haven't played the set since then.
-
going to be going dark armor myself. Defensive Sweep seems to stack with itself and even without being slotted for defense, having two stacks of it is 30% melee defense. add in CJ, cloak of darkness, the steadfast unique, and some slotting on defensive sweep and i think i can get myself melee capped pretty readily.
...now to figure out if I can range/AOE cap, or at least make the soft cap with one luck. HMM. -
Here's a bug I noticed: happened to me, a friend, and a couple randoms I've seen.
My friend and myself joined an iTrial team. We filled up and while zoning into the BAF the game broke up teams and got the players all messed up while loading. Here comes the problem: the first eight people went into team one and after that everyone else was on their own team. When the league hit the max of six teams, everyone that loaded in after that was booted out. This can be sort of worked around by whoever has the star quickly pulling people into teams, but it's a race against the speed people load in. The LFG window won't let you rejoin the event in progress (no button to do so) and the queue is useless even if you set it to join the first available trial (and will accept trials in progress).
Really frustrating. :c -
i used to play the heck out of redside, pretty much exclusively, for the ATs. i find the hero ones really boring but redside itself was killing my interest for a couple of reasons:
1. just because its evil doesnt mean it needs to be a dump. its an ugly place, i get it, but its ugly pretty much everywhere.
2. the mission structure is/was a lot like this:
ARACHNOSARACHNOSARACHNOSARACHNOSARACHNOSLONGBOW
LONGBOWLONGBOWLOGBOWLONGARACHNOSCIRCLEOFTHORNS
its really sucks that theres all these different enemy groups (legacy chain, goldbrickers, snakes, coralax, ect) that pretty much disappear from the rest of the game between 20-30.
those are pretty much the two biggest reasons, #2 actually being bigger than 1. -
they worked for AVs because BS mechanics like their caltrops/rain of fire being a debuff attached to whatever theyve happened to target doesnt come into play and poison was able to cover up for the rest with great single target debuffing. its basically the only thing the combo could do well, that doesnt mean it was sufficient anywhere else
ninja/poison sucks hard on teams (and i love teaming) for reasons i think most people know at this point (abhorrent survivability, rain of fire/caltrops dying with the target, jounin wasting free crits on poison dart, stupid micromanagement required to get decent performance out of the pets my demon/pain can get out of setting to aggressive, ect)
bots/traps can solo avs and do well on teams is the biggest difference -
i took a ninja/poison mm to 42.
most frustrating thing i ever played, ninjas were worthless.
still managed to solo AVs but thats what MMs do anyway. -
With my demon/pain I ditch the demon squad and go healbot with resistance debuffs with a buddy. We split off from the rest of the team and duo crates. It actually works p. well.

Quote:this is why i don't use it anymore too, although i managed to get one group of 9 where we beat it, the LFG tool is still stupid because it wont add anymore people unless you drop below the MINIMUM
I tried the LFG tool many times. It consistently places me in 8-man Lambdas with bizarre group make-up, and never increases the team size above 8 people. None of those have been successful.
I don't use the LFG tool anymore.
it should be like in wow where the league leader can hit a button to look for more and it should attempt to fill slots. i wish <3 -
Quote:People can also use two acids on the same door when they're throwing them if they're not careful. It would be random then. When I did my master run, we got all 10. I have been on several others that got all 10 also.
Also to be fair (bit more calm now) some people just don't know where to look, or what they are looking for. We had a guy today that didn't even know about league chat, so it may be just a matter of time and education.
Oh and I can agree with you OP, haha. I know the layout for the caches and chambers pretty well, but lord knows getting people to follow me can be like herding cats. That run where we had three grenades only was when people just kept spreading out.
Too bad my brute buddy is sick IRL, we would just duo all of the objectives and let the others sink or swim. :C -

Was this on Virtue? Because I was on the team, that was some BS.

Quote:for reals, ditto thisInteresting... The servers went down at 2PM my time. It's past 5PM my time and they're still not back up. I'm starting to consider that maybe I should be upset with the prolonged, overly-frequent maintenance periods.
You know what would uplift my mood? How about some patch notes? -
Quote:agreed ten million times overTo my understanding this is server-side, and there is no excuse for it. It's like lag hill in the ITF; do we really need all those Romans standing around and patrolling the edges of the map, where most teams will never encounter them? Creating content your systems can't handle is a failure in design, period.

if you're that dead set on being unhappy with this im not gonna stop you man, i mean, really.
gotta lol @ being the star = competing with people/stomping things so hard no one else can do anything. you can be awesome working with people, that's the point. both of my examples were about working with people
and yeah, 24 people can have their chance to shine; whether or not they take it is up to the individual.
but seriously, if you just want to be mopey about this whole thing im not gonna stop you. have fun. or not i guess. -
Quote:man heroes team up in big groups all the time to take on huge threats, this is one of those times. it doesnt make the heroes any less.
And, to me, is the hallmark of a bad story. And I say "bad" because it's the kind of storytelling that might work in a "hero with no name" RPG like Diablo or Dungeon Siege, where you're either a wanderer or just one more peasant with a sword. In these games, yeah, you can slap a hundred people together because characters are basically interchangeable moulds over which to hang your gear. Not so in City of Heroes. Well, at least it wasn't always so. This is one of the few games where NPCs actually address us by name, have you noticed? This is one of the few games where we're asked to create a backstory and a pretty final look right out the gate. Here, we're expected to have a backstory, and who we are matters.
So it's more than a little disheartening to be tossed into the grinder like we are, reduced from a person with a personality and a backstory, into one more warm body in the trenches. There's a reason I stay away from war stories.
besides, i dunno how YOU play but when i play im always a friggin' star. my dark armor/fire tank leads charges, takes it on the chin for the little guys, and does a ton of heavy lifting for the team. my demon/pain mastermind makes minion sacrifices for the good of the team to keep everyone goin' and saves the day by healin' tanks and blasters.
shoot even when i raided in wow my shaman was a star, either healing or dpsing. most interrupts and highest dps/over damage per fight? hell yeah that's me bein' a superstar. use some imagination and now youve got a cool story about your character making a difference in taking down the lich king or something
you gotta see yourself as a star in ways other than I AM THE CENTRAL FOCUS OF THE STORY AT ALL TIMES, makes life easier and makes the game way fun -
trials are pretty easy now that more people know the strats that don't in the trials and people generally have a few more incarnate abilities than before to make it pretty easy. although tbh, i haven't used the LFG tool in a while because it makes teams that barely meet the minimum number required/are too small and doesnt fill them back up (although i had a lambda trial we did start to finish with 9 people, when it got knocked down to 7 it was a loss). gg usin' global channels/hanging out in RWZ for a premade (at least then it'll have like 24 ppl)
as far as "takes too long solo", hate to be one of those ppl but this level of incarnate stuff obviously isnt meant to be done solo. the fact that if you really try you can KIND OF get this done solo in eighty years is probably off. i mean, yeah if you convert a billion shards to threads you can do it but my PoV on it is that the shard -> thread conversion is meant as a supplement to actually runnin' the trials and/or still getting a little bit of progress of helpin someone with a TF or something.
shoot i only know ONE person ingame who is getting put off by this but hes been playing for like three years and his main still hasnt hit 50 (with some help from me he finally hit 45 lol) -
Man, I just want Marauder and Mother Mayhem to shut uuuuuup
oh my god, these scenes are written like they're speaking to two year olds and then after the villains have explained it the captions for the mission come up and explain what's happening AGAIN
i know i'm an idiot but maybe the devs could stop writing to me like i've got a bad case of the downs, plz -
Quote:All the components and crap to keep track of feels like enchanting/gemming my gear in WoW again...I've given up on incarnates and have gone back to leveling up my lowbies. I'm sure the powergamers love it, but it's just too much work for me and not fun. To each their own.
--NT
...Just with a much uglier UI that makes it harder to track crap. -
And the first thing the defender says is (fyi, this is verbatim): ((ugh, I can't deal with a mastermind, especially one with demons. Sorry))
Haha, what the heck? -
I've got a tech-themed Shield/Axe werewolf named Iron Rampart. While technology didn't make him a werewolf, being a giant slab of hair and teeth could only take him so far and technology with that is taking him further. Personally, I think he looks pretty awesome:
There's nothing wrong with a tech werewolf. How much use will savage claws be against fully armored Rikti Soldiers? What will the hair and muscle do to protect them from things like the KRONOS Titan? And what about (if this applies to your guy), they encounter someone thinking ahead and picking up some silver bullets?
Some people said that using a sword makes them a "man", but I think that's kind of a copout response. Swords, axes, ect, are all INCREDIBLY brutal weapons. They're still tactile and it's not like they're shying away from the fight. -
-
Better solution: get rid of pet collison. Bam. Masterminds have their bulky pets, other players don't get stuck in them.
"It would look bad!" It looks just as bad, if not worse, to have players get shoved around and blocked by some stupid NPC pets. -
I'm pretty sure you're not a dev and you actually don't know the ins and outs of what they can and cannot do.
