I find that /Regen helps a lot. I had read somewhere a persons opinion that Willpower was a lot better than Regen because Regen is a lot of clicks rather than the toggle-and-forget wonder that is Willpower. But I think that Willpower's benefits kick in later levels than Regen.
Regen's endurance mitigation with Quick Recovery at level 4 makes up for a lot. And with just Fast Healing as my main defense I felt more confident taking on the harder content of GR with my KM/Regen scrapper than I ever did with my KM/Willpower scrapper. -
Quote:I agree about Port Oakes/Cap Au Diable split. I didn't realize it was part of the same island for the longest time.Step 1: Bridge the gap between Port Oakes and Cap Au Diable. All the zones in PC are separated by suburbs (or water or being a nuclear reactor) as far as the map goes, and all of the RI zones are their own island... except PO+Cap.
I do think the walls should stay around Terra Volta though. That seems like it should be there. -
The best part is no freaking war walls in Praetoria.
It's high time something similar is done on the hero side in Paragon City. It's not like the war walls are actually stopping anything. They just force us to realize that we are just playing in little boxes.
It's time to take them down. -
To paraphrase from Star Trek movies. "Why would a God need portals?"
The answer is that a God would not. I thought that the Shadow Shard was sort of Rularuu's shattered mind that was also his prison.
I'm thinking that Rularuu himself would not need a portal, but the other creatures, Observers, brutes, wisps, naterlings, etc. would need portals to access other dimensions. Plus the various aspects (Faathim, Lanaruu, Ruladek, etc.) might not be strong enough by themselves to enter other dimensions without portal technology. With Rularuu, or at least his mind imprisoned, the other aspects seem to have a greater deal of autonomy than they might otherwise have.
I would say that attempts to gain portal technology and the incursion in 2004 were attempts by an aspect of Rularuu rather than from Rularuu himself. This aspect would seek to leave the Shadow Shard in order to gain independence from Rularuu.
I'm thinking that Rularuu is securely contained and unable to do much harm at the moment. -
Quote:Hey, that's my website! Also, as some mentioned, there were some earlier designs done by ZNRGY... and as soon as I found the following link originally, I nearly wet myself from the awesome, and immediately saved the URL.
So, I hope he doesn't mind, but:
MORE AWESOME is only a click away!
(Note: This is not my website, I just stumbled upon it... and kept the URL at the ready.)
I didn't create any of the images though. I just made a new page to put them on as the other was doing bad things.
I really like the asymmetrical designs and the energy body designs. -
I think Recluse fits better with Dr. Doom than Magneto.
Magneto always seemed to have higher ideals/goals, but just wasn't too picky, or ethical, about getting what he wanted. Doom just seemed in it for the power. -
I would say that both sides of the raising level cap/not raising level cap debate havu some merit.
In truth, our level 50s will still be level 50, the level cap will not be raised. However, I'm guessing the Incarnate level, will be gained by XP.
The incarnate levels, if I understand correctly, is a parallel leveling system that goes alongside the normal levels. So one could be a level 50 and also a level 5 incarnate. But one wouldn't be level 55. At least technically speaking. -
But they tell you to use them often as you will get more often.
They tell you this.
Listen to them... -
Quote:As long as the insta-team thing was voluntary and I could turn it off, I wouldn't mind. You earn XP faster in a team, but I wouldn't want to be forced to join a team if I didn't want to. Star Trek Online had that when I was in beta and it totally sucked.I am also an avid soloer But, if I'm in one of my rare moods where I want to team with strangers, I'll find an active zone in my level range and then just start inviting anyone that says they're looking for a team. No concern for powersets/AT/level. Just taking whoever in broadcast that's lft.
To me, that sounds a lot like what you're looking for, only automated by the game itself.
The way City of Heroes handles teams, missions and the fact that most missions are instanced makes any mechanic that automatically matches you with other people looking for a team work really well. Even better if the team leader could set the maximum number of people they want on their team.
If someone leaves the team, someone is automatically chosen to fill in the missing slot.
But yeah it needs to be voluntary and you should be able to turn it off if you just want to run a 4 person Posi TF with your SG members. -
My MM took Ghost Widow as his Patron and I was really hurt that I had to betray her. I was completely behind what she was doing. I didn't want to betray her. In fact, I was so caught up in the story that after I defeated her, I actually apologized out loud at my computer screen.

Quote:Yeah, my Instant Healing is still a toggle.Patches are only for those who don't read the Community Digest. They nerf your game. The rest of us get no patches, and no nerfs.

Everything works great on my computer. I had to disable FSAA or get lots of lag. But with that off, everything is smooth and quick.
I just wish we had fingers... -
Yeah, fingers. I would so love fingers...
Also, we need to lose the war walls. They don't work and CoV has shown that you can have a city without war walls to set the boundaries. Sure we can have the same boundaries, but let us think that it is one seamless city. I don't think this is too hard of a thing to implement. -
I heard the whole reason they created the Ultra Mode was so that they would be able to have Big Red Ball in the game.
-
Interestingly, Champions Online has this very costume option, even with multiple dangling thingies.
Never figured out why anyone would want to look like that though.
Good luck. -

So what's the difference between soft cap and hard cap? I never really understood the difference.

Quote:Amen to the water reflection thing. I have to turn the water effects off.I was thinking more along the lines of fixing the broken water reflections and post-processing effects. It's certainly not ATi as I have played other OpenGL games that rendered reflective and liquid-reflective surfaces with the proper projections and orientations on them.

I have to agree with you. I find myself looking to not getting any more attacks because I just want to work on the one really cool AoE attack and boost my one cool buff.
Still it is nice to be able to move and attack. I would like to see CoH get rid of rooting when using powers, at least in PVE.
Quote:For all of CO much lauded open customation, the heros you end up with IMO feel pretty generic...
I mean... you can make and us any combanation powers, but you end up really only useing 2 or 3 accual attacks. One good AoE, one good Singletarget... maybe a gimic attack... a heal.. a passive... your travel.. and that's it. The rest of your powers are just for show.
Then the game brakes down into the same endlessly repeated sequince of, block block, nuke nuke, block block.. wash rince repeat. ALL my heros, dispite the fact they all have very different powers, seem to play the very same way... Even my offince "glass cannon" plays in the same style my hulking "tank" does. block block, attack attack, block block..
That's what's bugging me about CO right now. I'm hoping they work that out somehow. And improve teaming. Oh god, is teaming a joke IMO.
Right now, CO is my, "eh, i don't feel like CoH right now" game. It's there to help me through my coh burnout phase. lol. -
Quote:When you have to be in melee range for an attack to work on an opponent, then I consider that melee ranged attack.I have that exact power on one of my characters and I can assure you, it hits out of melee distance. Not only this, but it does, as it mentions 'Sphere' radius of damage.
Melee-ranged...? You realize that that's a contradiction, right? I can have my blaster use his attacks at melee distance, but it doesn't make 'em melee attacks.
There you are, again with 'melee ranged attacks'. They don't exist.
Yeah, and I had to make a lot of compromises myself until I realized... Guess what? I could play CoX and NOT compromise. The system? Yeah, a bit limited, but with every dose of Power Proliferation it's getting closer and closer to filling the niches. I started out with just Single Blade/Fire... Soon enough, I had to skip into sorcery, gadgets, and more, just to fill the gaps that I couldn't otherwise because so many powers were crap.
Too much temptation? I have yet to find a way to NOT min/max in that game and do decent damage.
Of course a blaster can use the ranged attack at melee range, but what if all of your ranged attacks had an effective range that was the same as melee range?
The Dark power that drains health and heals that I mentioned only works at a relatively short (melee) distance, but is not an actual melee attack. You just stand there and absorb their life. You don't punch them, you don't pound on them, you don't kick them. Thus the term "melee ranged attack." This power's range really is that short.
The chain lightning power has a really long range and can be considered a normal ranged attack. So I can agree with you that I can use that at melee range, but it's not really a melee attack.
However, Sparkstorm has a relatively short (ok, maybe a bit longer than normal melee, but not by much) range, even if it is a sphere. And if the bad guy moves out of the range, they stop taking damage. You really need to be in melee range to actually damage bad guys. Plus it does knock back, so you are constantly having to run after the bad guys so they are in range again. I don't see blasters having to do that with their ranged attacks.
Look at CoX's Lightning Field. It has a relatively short radius effectively only working on things within melee range. Not the same as being able to shoot someone 250 yards away. -
I just want fingers instead of the bad looking mittens we have now.

Quote:To be fair, Electricity does have a PBAOE attack Sparkstorm that is similar to Lightning Field in effect, but does a lot of damage and is more of a click power. It is my character's primary attack. It is not a melee attack, but you have to be in melee range to be effective.Nope. No Melee attacks for Fire, Ice, Electric, Force (We call it Energy), or Darkness. It bugged the HELL out of me.
Darkness also has a melee ranged attack that does lots of damage and transfers health to you. Kind of like Siphon Life.
So while there are no elemental melee attacks, there are elemental melee ranged attacks.
My character started out (in open beta) as a copy of a pen & paper character that was really strong and could teleport and used a baton to beat people up. But you only have single sword, with no weapon customization. So already my concept was blown, and once I found out how good Sparkstorm was, I totally abandoned the original concept.
So while you do have a certain freedom of exploring different concepts, for me it was too much of a temptation to min/max. -
My answer, while less truthful, was funnier.

No, you are forbidden about talking about issue 16 things for no less than 25 years.
