I can understand the reaction with the robot, with it being cemented into a bridge pillar and all. That's a bit suspicious.
But the toy horse? Really? -
Quote:Yes, as far as I'm concerned missions can (should) be designed with inspirations in mind. And indeed you can solo just about anything with the right mix of inspirations, that's why I really don't get a lot of the 'this is too hard! fix it!' complaints. You can solo just about anything with a tray fulla purples. But should missions be designed under the assumption that the player will have them? Does the technique permit the assumption that the player can just use Inspirations if the mission was poorly designed?
To say "I soloed this mission with Inspirations so it therefore didn't need to be changed" is problematic, since Inspirations can render virtually all combat totally in the favor of the player.
On the other hand, to say "I could not solo this mission without Inspirations" testifies to the mission's difficulty, which in turn indicates if a mission that was meant to be soloable may need to be changed.
I find it strange that so many people completely ignore their use in this game, even to the point of insisting that it is akin to cheating to use them in certain situations. Yes, I've actually seen that claim being made more than once, and I'm not talking just about PvP.
Noone complains about having to use healing, mana or +strenght potions in other games, so why would it be any different here?
I've reached the point that when someone dies and I can't give him a wakey because his inventory is full, I refuse to help him rez for the rest of the teaming session.
Inspirations. USE THEM. -
I personally cba to do more than one respec. So if I end up with more than 10 left over IO's they just disappear into nothingness. I don't do purples so it's almost never a big loss.

The ATF really isn't that hard imo. The first run I did was a failure, we couldn't kill Battle Maiden, but that had more to do with the fact that the team didn't mesh at all and that 2 people had sneaked on board without a slotted alpha boost.
The second run went a lot better, only 2 people (the leader and me) having done it before, there were still just over 50 deaths though. But I personally only died twice, both times to the blue death, once because I wasn't paying attention, and once because I was completely blocked in by three patches and the wall, so I had nowhere to run when another landed on top of me hehe.
Just pay attention, and don't queue up your attacks so you aren't stuck in overly long animations when you should be running. Also don't run across the map as a spastic monkey to avoid the patches as I see some people do. Just moving a bit to the side works just fine.
About the ambushes: There are five (if I counted right) ambushes with BM's goons after you defeat her for the first time, after you killed the third BM spawns for the second time. If you kill off the group with BM and the final ambush they should stop. The swords however keep coming as far as I've seen. New ones only spawn after you've killed all the previous ones. So if you keep 2 or so bosses alive, but kill off all the rest, the secondary tank/brute/scrapper can keep the 2 bosses on himself so your squishies don't get mangled anymore while no new swords will spawn.
(Just observations based on 2 runs, if I'm way off base anywhere just point it out.)
Quote:You get a blue nebular glowing effect around your feet a few seconds before it hits. Make sure your particle count is high enough in your graphic settings. I have heard that seems to influence the visibility of the warning effect.I keep reading that there's supposed to be some advance warning before one of those Cheating Circles of Death appears, but I never saw any such indication. I just got blindsided by them over and over again, as did the rest of the team, until we finally gave up. I'm glad some people are getting enjoyment out of it, but you couldn't pay me to run through that meat-grinder again. -
I got 3 shards on release day from clearing 5 morality and 1 alignment missions set for x6+0. My duo partner got 4 in those same missions.
Did a really lucky LGTF thursday. Found 11 shards. My brother got 12 (and 2 purple recipes(!)) in that same TF. The rest of the team found plenty as well.
Only found 3 shards on the LG I did yesterday though. So I guess it balances out. -
I know that without flippers, I personally, would buy a lot of stuf for far lower prices than I do now. I can be very patient when I have too. For some things that aren't being 'flipped' it still pays off to be patient, but for a lot of other stuff you just can't buy anything below the minimum price that flippers set.
I divide my play time between a lot of characters, so if one is on hold for a week, or even two, because I need to wait for a bid on a certain recipe or piece of salvage to be filled that's not a problem.
The problem probably lies completely with me, but, say, 100.000 inf means next to nothing to me. But paying 100.000 inf for a piece of common salvage completely rubs me the wrong way. -
Quote:I lol'ed.Yeah I do. It's super-easy. All they have to do is give ME the power to unpublish exploit farms, ban the creators and everyone who's used it for however long I feel like, remove the creators' other MA arc slots if I feel like it, delete any and all characters of the creators and players of all these exploit farms that I consider suspicious, and I would do it all day long. They could pay me with Dev Choices, one arc a month, and if they gave me the ability to hand out free 5-star ratings and plays I would pay everyone who ratted out a new exploit with a nice HoF for the arc of their choice. I'd have 20-30 people right away working for me finding arcs in exchange for HoFs. With this Gestapo I will cleanse the MA from all the impure and unfit filth that brings it down, and create lebensraum for good, clean, pure story arcs.
That's bad, right? -

Quote:Doesn't make them any less like ******** though. Lots of people find lots of things fun that I really can't wrap my head around. I don't go off on them just because I can. Some people can't embrace attachments to stuff they can't smell or throw a beer can at. It doesn't mean they're rotten people. They're not always JUST getting their ya-yas off by poking your emotional investments with a stick. Some of these folks are genuinely frustrated that you can do something with your imagination that they can't with theirs-- so, best for them to believe there's something wrong with you.

Quote:I couldn't agree more.
The "Internet" may not be real, but it is still as real as television, radio or the telephone. It doesn't have to be "real" in any sense of the word, because it does nothing more than provide an environment for real people with real feelings and real emotions to interact. And as long as real people interact with each other, the interaction is "real enough," and as such shouldn't be dismissed as no big deal. -
Meh, people are ********. The internet just gives them a repercussionless platform to act like themselves.

Quote:I can asure you that my recent 50's don't feel any less 50 than my old 50's.I just feel like the guy they let into the Navy SEALs after they dropped the minimum pushups requirement from 500 to 400 -- sure, I'm a SEAL, and I get to wear the uniform and all, but does it really mean what it used to mean? Do I really measure up to the SEALs who came before me? (Not a real-world example regarding the SEALs, by the way -- I just made that up to get the point across.)

Quote:Yea, I'm still going to go with: Use the 'No Xp' option instead. That's what it's for.4) "Use the 'No XP' option every third mission." Please see #3.
So, please, if you have an objection to a "No Patrol XP" option, please try to give a better reason than one of these. But do feel free to state whether or not it's something that you yourself might actually use. I'm curious to know what the overall sentiment is. -
I'm all for taking a look at the Stone Armour set. As long as Granite is left alone, manky run speed and all.

Quote:As opposed to 'discussions' over games irl, like say soccer, were people get beaten to a pulp.
Why get all worked up over a computer game and just end up spending time throwing insults/vitriol/name calling from one to the other over the forums.
games = games imo whether they happen on a pc, a cartbord board or a pitch. -
I'm Fan Man!
With a weakness for wireless phones ...
That's not a very good weakness to have, with them being so common and all... -
Quote:Or they just like to run a team of 8 while doing whatever missions ...I tend to look down my nose at PUGs who solicit me from far-away zones. If someone solicits you from across the city, and doesn't give a good reason why, then they either don't know what they're doing, or are up to something that has got everything to do with their interests, and nothing to do with yours.

Meh, lame jokes and mediocre CGI.
Portman is one of my favourite actresses though. -
Quote:This is such nonsense. No it isn't spam because I get it every 5 minutes. It's spam because 1000 people get the same message in those 5 minutes.
Quote:Also spam is not limited to RMT so don't try to confuse the subject by deliberately focusing on RMT companies. Their services are against the rules regardless of how they advertise whether it's
Announced in a global channel
Sent via tell
Sent via email
Recruiting people to teams/SG's and telling them about the services
Advertised in the SG MOTD (Message of the Day)
Spelled out on the walls of a base in wall lights
Constantly being spoken by NPC's in an AE mission
Spelled out in corpses falling from the sky (done in another game)
Spelled out using chest symbols on disposable characters on a bunch of trial accounts -
Quote:Super Jump forced? Someone forgot to mention that to me. I'll have to correct that oversight on every single one of my squishies then ...Power Pool, (same) Power Pool, and a different Power Pool. Everyone takes Stamina so Health is a given, but Super Jump is now forced and doesn't even provide all around protection or resistance. Melee get those for just picking (any?) APP/PPP assuming they want or need them.

Quote:So, if you get 1 email every 5 minutes trying to sell you influence that's not spam? The content of the message isn't the spam nor does the number of people recieving the message determine if a message is spam. It's the speed at which the message is being sent out that makes it spam.
For example:
Repeating the same message 100 times in 5 minutes is spam.
Repeating that same message once every 5 minutes is not spam.
Right. -
Quote:I never bother with a), since hardly anyone actually uses the lft flags. Also, if I receive a tell from someone looking for teammates it can be annoying if a.) my flag is not set as lft b.) I have not broadcast lft, and most importantly c.) when I am explicitly flagged as NOT lft. When sending out team invites I always follow the courtesy of asking only folks that have broadcast lft or are flagged as lft. In both cases, I send a tell first.
I do check peoples search comments, and pay attention to c)
Regarding to b), broadcast spam is imo a horribly inefficient way to either recruit people or get recruited on a team yourself with it being restricted to 1 zone and all. -
Quote:That sounds like a bug with the mission rather than a problem related to ambushes. You should report this.Okay, I don't come around and start a thread specifically to complain about something very often, but on occasion something crawls into and bites my nether-regions. Such a situation has presented itself to me, and has caused me to forcefully remove my hair on several occasions.
Overwhelming Ambushes of Doooooooommmmm!: Let me start by saying that I don't necessarily have a problem with them; fending off a dozen waves of baddies at once can be fun, and I've had myself quite a good time doing so on several occasions. However, if there are any devs reading this, please don't have such ambushes spawn on top of you when you have to escort a killable, and therefore stupidly courageous, NPC to the door. And if you do, because you want it to be tough, please, for the love of all that is holy, please let the mission fail when the NPC dies.
The perfect example of this is the "Beethoven's 5th Symphony" alignment mission, hero side. I free the Longbow captive, and am immediately jumped by hundreds of Arachnos. This is awesome, and lots of fun, but 15 minutes later, when the smoke clears, the Longbow agent is nowhere to be found, and I check the logs and sure enough, she died somewhere early in the fight, but now there's nothing I can do about the mission other than reset it and try again. Why couldn't it just fail like most of the other missions that have a hostage that dies?
Anyone else bothered by this, or am I just crazy? -
Quote:Except that, of course, the official announcement was: We're aiming for the 16th ... ish. If we don't make that it'll be the week after thanksgiving.Actually, I would have to say that this is pretty accurate overall. The fact is whether it is an "Official" announcement on the forums or an "Unofficial" announcement at a M&G, the fact that the company reps say there is a "projected date" makes it an official announcement in an unofficial situation. If they didn't want the heat, then maybe they should have kept their mouths closed.
Afaik, we're still not past the week after thanksgiving, so no matter how you want to twist it they still haven't broken any promises.
But I'm fairly sure that they won't bother to give anymore actual dates from now on. It'll be back to "Soon". Yey, you win.
Quote:In itself missing this deadline wasn't really a bad thing and I am not really upset over it, but from the little bit of research I have done it is not exactly a solitary mistake. Even if you subtract out the few things they managed to get to us early, it still makes for a bad image in being "tardy".
Fact is though, we ARE much more forgiving with NCSoft/Paragon Studios when they mess up than they would be with us if we messed up our finances and we couldn't pay the sub fee on time. For this reason I don't have a problem when Mr. Cyber_naut or Mr. GMan3 (and a few others) make a complaint on this companies performance. Maybe if we all were a little more critical they would start to perform better since they might learn we are "tired of mediocrity".
I hope I managed to say what I meant pretty clearly here. I am not usually very good at that according to my Writing Composition teacher anyways.
