Oh wow, man, this thread, like, jacked it SELF, man!
Twice, even.
That is like, just so totally karmic!
Oh, yeah, and, like, 85, man! -
Agreed. It's an almost constant request in Jays costume thread. Maybe when the Natural Booster pack comes out.

Okay, what are some the funniest (but real) reasons you've had to AFK?
I was eating some leftover Garlic Bread as a snack while I was playing, when the cat suddenly snaked a paw up over the side of my computer desk, snagged a piece, and dragged it off onto the floor! (I had cut it into smaller pieces to make it easier to handle.) I hit my "AFK for a minute, BRB" macro, and went after her to retrieve it.
I got another plate and put it on the floor with a TINY piece of the garlic bread for her, and set that piece aside in case she wanted more. She did, and she ate several bits (total about the size of the end of my thumb).
The funniest part was when I got back, and said "Back, sorry, cat stole my garlic bread", no one would believe me!!
So what funny/wierd AFKs have you had? -
Last night I was working on my L45 Elec/Elec Blaster, Captain ZZap. I've got a decent bundle of money (about 10M inf.) and was able to finish off my second full set of Kinetic Crash for the second Recharge bonus.
So I was looking at what else I could do, and Build-Up caught my attention. I look into what's available there, especially a set called "Rectified Reticle".
"Eh, it's not all that great, and it doesn't even go above level 20, but that's still about as good as SOs. (I'm not a min/maxer, so that's good enough for me.) But it does have another Regen bonus. And what's this 'Increased Perception'? WOW! Okay, what do these cost?
"Several million, and there aren't even any for sale? What was that Merit Cost? 150?! Oh, well, maybe later, then. This one recipe from the set is cheap, I'll pick up one of those and I should be able to buy the others with merits before too long."
Then I saw an Abandoned Sewers Trial starting up. I've never done that, and got in on that. It went okay, and we finished with minutes to spare. "Cool! There's some more merits, right there!"
I wandered back to WW's to unload the stuff I didn't need, then remembered Random Rolls with Merits. "What the heck, I'll give it a shot. I might get the Increased Perception Recipe, and if I don't I should still be able to make a nice bit of additional change off what I do get."
Well, I had enough merits for four rolls. And out of those four rolls, I got TWO Rectified Reticle; Increased Perception, and the other Rectifed Reticle that I needed for the full set! I dropped bids on the salvage I need, and should be able to craft and slot the whole set sometime this week, and sell the other Increased Perception for enough to actually come out ahead!
I was neutral about merits before, but when they let a casual player like me pick up a prized recipe like that that easily, well, NOW I'm sold! -
So basically, "What happens in AE stays in AE".
Then what's the point of playing in AE? This is no better than just removing XP altogether.
Not A Good Thing.
If you want to get the Farming/PLing out of the starter zones, do something aimed at that. Don't throat cut those of us who enjoy using it as an alternate way to level, but don't PL. -

I found her! Only once so far though and she was conning yellow to my 50. Gave a nice blaze to the eye, that's right her eye. She was looking at me funny.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. And I bet she just calmly submerged didn't she? You didn't bother her much; she didn't even consider you worth killing.
If you can get her to fight back, that's the sign she thinks you're a threat.
[/ QUOTE ]Didn't they add a badge for doing enough damage to get her to actually attack?

Generally speaking, vBulletin is a LOT more customizable than what we've got now, and adding plugins and scripts is rather easy to do.
And personally speaking, I've got years of modding/admining forums run on vBulletin. So for me, it'll kinda be like coming home.

Considering I don't claim omniscience or even any special knowledge of the dev's intent, how am I to judge what's an "unnatural or unintended benefit"?
I could argue from my own "personal moral compass" that mito farms were exploitive, but what if it didn't for comm officers?
It would be nice if the devs had a policy to have kept examples of what they consider exploitive, to allow players to have a basis or guide to judge future such activies.
[/ QUOTE ]Use your own experience and knowledge of the game.
Drop the "moral compass" part of the quote and you have a perfectly usable guideline: ". . . something in the game that is obvious to you is not intended behavior [is] probably an exploit." -

I don't seem to have any trouble getting on teams when I want to, and I frequently get tells when I'm not even looking. But if I don't, I just solo.
I enjoy soloing as much as, if not more than, I enjoy teaming.
And I sure as heck enjoy soloing a LOT more than trying to put together my own team, pick a suitable mission, deal with turnover, etc., etc., etc. (Yes, I have actually done it. More than once. So I can knock it if I want to.)
I'm a grunt, not an officer. -
Agent:
The default behavior in CoH is actually different from "normal" Windows behavior: when you're in the game, hitting "PrtScrn" (or whatever other key you might bind it to) does save a screenshot to the folder on your system.
If you're in any other screen (Character Creator/Editor, Enhancement Management, etc.), then it follows the normal Windows behavior of putting it in the clipboard, requiring you to take extra steps to save it.
(I don't have any experience with the game on Mac, so I don't know how it may differ there.) -

Although sometimes if you haven't looked at a thread, it will still mark early posts as "read" and plop you somewhere down the page the first time you click on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
If it marks the thread as read before you read it and doesn't drop you at the top of the page when you click on the thread, then someone's added a post since you last refreshed the post list. I assure you, though, it's not random.
[/ QUOTE ]So how come I frequently end up on the same post that I've already read, day after day after day?
Hopefully THAT will go away, too. -

I'm sorry, but at what point does ethics and morality play into this? The point of fixing/saying not to use exploits is for that whole risk vs reward thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lawyer: "Positron, how will we know if something breaks the risk/reward thing?"
Positron: "If your personal moral compass flip flops or even wavers a little while doing something in the game that is obvious to you is not intended behavior, it's probably an exploit. " ***
Lawyer (to the Jury): "I see, so a discussions of one's morals and ethics is relevent."

[/ QUOTE ]If you're going to trot that out, I'll trot this out:
If it gives "an unnatural or unintended benefit", it's an exploit. Rules of Conduct, Rule 18.
(And before you say "bug" doesn't apply, common programming usage of "bug" includes code that produces an unexpected or unintended result.) -

Blasters by far:
Blasters 9
Scrappers 2
Defender 1
And the Defender is TA/Arch, so she's almost a Blaster anyway.

Either Ctrl-A or Click on the first one, Shift-Click on the last one to select all, Ctrl-Click to select/deselect individual ones. Then Spam Delete all the selected ones. -

[ QUOTE ]
Yea thats true, did not think of that.
Let me ask another question, you can still only run each of the three one time for the respec correct? Before you could run over and over, but only got one respec from it. Was just curious if that had changed or not.
[/ QUOTE ]If you're high enough level and haven't done any of them at all yet, you could do any combination of the three that you wanted.
So, if you hadn't done any of them yet, you could do the third one three times and get three respecs, then you'd be limited to merits.
Or you could do the first one twice and the second one once, etc.

5 year old system.
Graphics on Minimum.
Still so much lag that I can barely play during an invasion. (Didn't stop me, though, they are just too cool!)
Then I increased memory from 1G to 2G.
I still have to turn Graphics to Minimum for any big event, but the lag is all but gone.
And in regular play I went from "Performance" to "Recommended".
Additional Memory is your friend.
