ITF Question
So, you're asking if you can keep doing that exploit you've been doing? The one that takes advantage of the two models being mechanically switched, sometimes leading to there being two Romuluses?

Be careful here, not everyone is aware of the mechanics behind the game and it's possibly player might not know about this being an exploit.
Heh, it occurred to me that this is an exploit, though I wasn't sure. I just looked at it as a way to shave off a couple minutes off my time.

QFT
in the defense of the OP, i run ITF daily, and i had no idea, or an inkling, that this was an exploit.
i had figured that you just aggroed him before he could spawn nictus and he decided to react to you first.
no need to be snooty. there is a reason this is the Q&A forum.

I'm sorry, but at what point does ethics and morality play into this? The point of fixing/saying not to use exploits is for that whole risk vs reward thing.

Oh yes, now I see how
"My sense of ethics and morality is the only one that matters. It's not my fault that humanity hasn't developed psychic abilities."
is the same as
"If your personal moral compass flip flops or even wavers a little while doing something in the game that is obvious to you is not intended behavior, it's probably an exploit. "

Give him a break, it's only been 2 months. You can't expect someone to just quit a voluntary activity that costs money and they openly don't like right away, can you? It's just not that easy. You make it sound like there's some magic "delete" button. Get real, man.

[/ QUOTE ]If you're going to trot that out, I'll trot this out :
If it gives "an unnatural or unintended benefit", it's an exploit. Rules of Conduct, Rule 18.
(And before you say "bug" doesn't apply, common programming usage of "bug" includes code that produces an unexpected or unintended result.)
Considering I don't claim omniscience or even any special knowledge of the dev's intent, how am I to judge what's an "unnatural or unintended benefit"?
I could argue from my own "personal moral compass" that mito farms were exploitive, but what if it didn't for comm officers?
It would be nice if the devs had a policy to have kept examples of what they consider exploitive, to allow players to have a basis or guide to judge future such activies.

For those of you familiar with this strategy, on the final mish of the ITF, it used to be possible to pull Romulus away from the Nictus by aggroing him immediately after the cutscene ended and then running back, leading him away from the Nictus.
On the last 3 ITF's I ran, I was unable to do it, and I don't know if I was just really off my game, or if there was a fix to prevent this from happening. Anyone know?

Ignoring what this thread has become, and whether or not glitching him is an exploit or if it's "right or wrong" to use this method...
I will admit that I have used this trick and taught others how to do it for a long time now. Matter of fact, I just explained it in detail again in a post about 48 hours ago after somebody else claiming that it doesn't always work anymore.
Either the person trying to "break" Rom was too slow getting to the platform, or they didn't understand enough about the mechanics of the situation to make sure it would work.
In short, I have used it a few times this week, even as recently as last night, and it still works without a problem (when done correctly).
(I wont be upset if they "fix" it, but as long as it still works, I'll keep doing it. It's not like it's THAT much of an exploit anyway. He's usually easy anyway. I do it just to make fun of Rom. lol)
Good thing no one used to ever "stick" LR on the STF.

Drop the "moral compass" part of the quote and you have a perfectly usable guideline: ". . . something in the game that is obvious to you is not intended behavior [is] probably an exploit."
I've personally never tried this technique, however you can pull the nictus around corners and kill them one at a time! Also, If you have multiple long ranged characters you can attack with 80'+ powers and hit the nictus without arggoing them, meaning you can kill all three without them healing or engaging you.
I hope that helps,

[/ QUOTE ]Waste of time to do it that way. You have a bunch of people with high defense do the up close Rommie beating, then have anyone who uses ranged attacks and doesn't have decent negative energy or AoE defense stay out of the Heal's attack radius. Repeat 4 times. The Nicti give zero rewards, while Rommie gives AV rewards each time. If you can do it by beating on Rommie 4 times, definitely do it that way.
