to agree with this, i must recommend a kin/rad, most hectic/exciting/fun def i ever played, actually, maybe even character. and kin doesn't get many sets available, IO's/SO's work just fine. though if you run across an achillies heel proc or two in your travels it's worth it in rad blast.

also; i am now off to the online college websites to find one that offers "Rocket Surgeon" as a degree.

although i agree with the 'more super powers' sentiment, i believe that you are going about it the wrong way. there is no reason to be negative about what we DO have to justify asking for genre appropriate extras. the martial arts stuff has limited appeal to me, as does the anime stuff, but i don't begrudge anyone their choice of "superheroes". i would like some more modern comic book type spandex'y stuff, definitely some asymmetrical costume options, and more 'power armor' type choices, but i ain't gonna rain on anyone else's (<- that's not a word, is it?) parade.

this community is pretty friendly, and you can usually find some kind of support for a traditional addition to the game, but once you start going negative you will turn folks off.

i mock your concern for 10 measly dollars. remember, before you start passing judgment that you are basing it off of your own life, not ours, and that maybe some of us don't have to stick to your budget.

that's just silly........ we all know there isn't anything real outside of the USA.... it's all matrix like hooey

this isn't really a comparison, no controller will ever play like a kin/rad "THE BESTEST SCRAPFENDER EVARRR", a controller can add alot to a team, they can also out damage a def solo (some of them anyways), but they are still different classes. actually if your are playing strictly for "BIG NUMBERZZ" then you are playing the wrong game anyways. you are here to play super heroes/villains, and a def is equally as effective as a troller, just at different things. enjoy your kin/rad, it's one of my favorite def's ever, completely crazy play style, not even close to how you play a troller.

i agree....... well, and the NY Giants, but other then that just family and friends...... and the giants.

here's the thing about the "non top populated servers" that i encountered when i first started;
they tend to have VERY good communities (champion, pinnacle, justice, and the like), but they are hard to reach communities. this is not to imply that these tight communities are in any way standoffish, just that they tend to have server specific channels they chat in, certain routines they follow, it's like a clique. they will gladly let you into their world and as i found out on pinnacle, they will help you with everything you could ever ask for (not knock on other servers, just circumstance), the trick is FINDING them. they tend to be inadvertently obscure. i would recommend going to the bottom of the forums, finding the Justice forums, and keep an eye out for get togethers, once you attend one, all the vets will give you all the info you need to join their little club. the Pinns (drunken Pinns at that ) are all great folks, tons of fun, and more helpful then i could have hoped for, but it took me over a year to find the way in. or, you could just make a toon on freedom and be up to your armpits in players, either way.

so, as a side note to the groups on the lower pop servers, the diehards who love their quite little corners of our world, you have always been very kind, generous, and helpful with the newbies, just not the easiest to find. i have no recommendations on how to make this easier for new folks, but maybe it's just a heads up, the newbies need your help

oddly enough, exact opposite here, i have waited thru all the PP, never getting anything out of it, never complained mind you, but i realized that there will come a time when they have nothing left to proliferate other then the stuff i want I16 is my happy issue. i won't be out of alt making before GR comes out, and i'll have to resub for like a bazillion years just to make the toons i want to make.

ok, not at home, so i don't have a build available, but here's some pointers.
first, you should probably focus on the AoE attacks of rad/, but most of those come late, so pick up your ST attacks early and respec later. you reg date is 05, so i'll assume you have a couple vet specs lying around for each character so no hassles there.

second, get used to melee range even though you blast, all your best /kin goodies come from melee range (except SS, which is pure win), and you're first AoE is a PBAoE, the rest of them work just fine from inside the mob. you will live in this range, best to get the squeamishness out of your system early.

third, rad's -def helps almost everyone of your /kin powers, this is awesome. now if you have the dough or are really lucky you can get achilles heel proc's for most of your blasts, trust me when i say FS+a ton of -res+AoE's is godlike. also, get NB your first blast, keep it, it is super recharging, always available damage, and it can be proc'd out to deal nice damage, and is ALWAYS ready to fill in gaps in your chain.

fourth, this combo blooms late, stick to it, trust me it gets better (those first levels are rough) it WILL be worth the wait. also, don't play this character while you are tired, you will faceplant repeatedly, like every ten seconds. this toon will take massive amounts of caffeine to be pulled off. there is no mitigation, none! so you have to out work your enemies. you can always pop off transfusion and transferrence (when you get it) to help, but it's not always perfect, so you will have to play hard to get ahead with this toon. but near the end, you will see why it was worth it, total mayhem, total excitement, total carnage. rad/kin will be one of your favorites.
