War Mace/Invul or War Mace/Elec

So Im considering making a farming toon, and choosing from these two builds.

Has to be able to handle an onslaught of 53's and 54's (i know, not optimal farming, but I also help pl alts/friend).

Was thinking the /elec could handle end management easily, even with a high recharge build, and has a dmg aura. Even with the new change and the regen/heal added with energize, how sturdy is it? Will It require Aid Self?

I see posts of people softcapping /invul, if even just to s/l. Everytime I play with the builder it seems like I'm just falling short of 40 s/l defense, and thats with 10 baddies around me. Someone enlighten me please, since im a invul noob. The #'s seem ok with invul, but just doesnt seem anything great, so i have my doubts about survivability.

Thanks for the input/advice.

Well...

Mace/Elec will be a little more effective if you choose to use repeatable RWZ missions. Howver, you will still hate mentalists. At 3/8 or 4/8 electric armor still crumples.

Mace/Invuln will be great at any mission that mostly does S/L dmg, and will also be great on the ITF. My personal recommendation is that once your friend hits 35, that's what you should do daily.

Mace/Shield is the one you want. A boost in damage, soft-capped defenses, a nice extra AoE, and the flexibility of being able to fight just about anything.

I have a /shield, so trying to use something other than that. Already have a elec/shield brute and scrapper, dm/shield brute and scrapper. So getting tired of /shield Thanks for the advice though.

I would personally go with WM/Invuln. Invincibility will feed the accuracy of all of your PBAoEs, simultaneously rewarding your offense with increased defense in a primary/secondary combo that feeds off of foes in close proximity. War Mace really shines when the maximum number of foes are clumped upon your person, allowing skills like Crowd Control, Whirling Mace, and Shatter to be most effective. ELA is still quite squishy relative to the tougher sets in this situation because it lacks scaling protection found in Invuln and WP.

Another thing to consider is weapon redraw, which can get a little annoying. There's but one click in Invulnerability-- Dull Pain-- which is on a long recharge, and even when used as a permanent +hp buff is clicked once every 110 seconds. ELA is clicking Power Sink and Energize quite often, and I personally don't like that dynamic for a set that makes snap combat maneuvers to line up foes for PBAoE cone attacks. It just doesn't work so well in heated combat.

I have found that Invulnerability with set IOs and Darkest Night is arguably the second toughest Brute; click Unstoppable and you will surpass Granite Armor for a three minute span.

Invuln can get some shockingly good typed defense numbers, however it's harder to softcap than a tank is. But given an aggressive brute playstyle, you can probably be comfortable with ~36% S/L defense, because 4 foes in range of invincibility will soft-cap you, which isn't hard to do on teams. Soloing ??/8 difficulty I'd suggest dropping S/L defense even further to around 32%, pushing for more recharge. But, I'm not an invuln expert.

I have a mace/stone brute I IO'd to the gills to deal with the recharge and speed problems. Every once in a while I'll dust it off if I need a strong tank, or I'm feeling lazy and just want to be a taunt bot for a while. It's decent.

I'd also suggest Mace/EA (nrg). If you haven't tried EA, it's a decent set, though it has a psi hole (so does invuln and stone). Not having to care about end is nice and really frees you up.

For a Mace/Elec, I think I'd go for stacking around 32% melee def on it to increase survivability. I wouldn't take it on an ITF with that kind build unless the team had a VEAT or a bubbler. But given the number of oblits you can socket in mace, you could get a decent set with some end tools to offeset the lack of end redux in oblit.

All jokes aside, id try Energy Aura if it just had a bit more defense debuff resistance.
