  1. I guess its a stare down.
Who will get bored/annoyed first? The curser that its gets changed, or the people that have to put up with it and demand that the mods change it?
  2. Do these services let you have the actual mp3/avi file on your system or do you need to be logged into them in order to view/listen them? I think that's the important thing.

I think its like being able to check a movie from the local library (which is free) versus ripping a copy under the table.
  3. I like the overdone cape. I'm sure he can handle a few jet turbines and rotating doors.

    Epic Encounters!

First couple of times I ran Synapse it felt epic. CW King has his unique tunnel like map and his green head makes him stand out from the rest of the clocks.
  6. What? No "3D and 2D (in selected theaters)" at the end?!?!

    I am disappointed!
  7. Crossing fingers blasters' dark/dark is a testing ground for a Dominator's Dark assault. I've always thought Dark assault shouldn't be too hard with what we have now, but without a dark control or something in that vein in the works soon, it'd only be half the fun.
  8. Like where this is going.

    About the Sister Psyche look:
maybe something as simple as changing her posture a bit, or her hands could convey the getting ready to respond look. Have her face be "OMG" but her fists tightening or tense to spring into action.

    About loosing the original tutorials:
As others have said, apart of me likes breaking out of jail. Seems like a awesome way to begin a career.

Story wise, the original hero tutorial has its charms in that is a simple way to lead a new hero. "Nothing too dangerous, we're going to hold your hand through this, son."

This new tutorial also seems railroaded plot wise. "Something happens, and a hero rises to the challenge." Some of us choose to RP, or have a story on how we became heroes, and this arc might get in the way of that. (People have been saying the same thing about Jailbreak.)

If I had a say, I'd keep all three tutorials, and on the character creation have [Hero] [Villain] [Choose my fate], and keep the original tutorials locked from new players till they became VIP, or ran through the new tutorial at least once.
  9. Any chance we can get a LFT chat channel to go along 'Help'? That would divide the rants and make it easier for new people to find teams. Right now my impression is that being a Free player will be a lonely existence w/o some mentor.

I just don't see how a city of people, who all have the possibility to be armed, can lose to a species that numbers what...20 maaaybe 50?
The article touches on this. The makers are aware that humanity as it is can't be taken down. Their reasoning is that if you remove some key advantages we have, we won't be that unstoppable. I'm assuming the apes will be aiming for that.

Number of apes vs numbers of humans advamtage is another thing I'm interested in seeing how it's balanced out.
  11. Those things were done in 1820!? O.o

    Damn...

    Best n?3

Don't forget inspirations! If the trio has a seldom occurring weak point, pop some candies and bring it down. You don't need to have a trio that covers every single eventuality if the cost is to shoehorn people into roles they might not inherently fit into.
  13. To be fair, some MK:Legacy videos have come out with censored and uncensored versions due to a degree of violence apparently someone in Youtube didn't like.
  14. Sucks for Siren's Song and Flash Freeze as well. And the damage of those is weak.

At least Flash Freeze sucks to begin with, anyway.
  15. Poor Spock fangirl. . . to be used that way. . .

This was my mindset as well for a while. My two initial alts were a scrapper and an empath (duh!). He took no attacks and focused on heals and Fortirude/Clear mind. But I mostly buffed because I was bored no one needed healing and I had to click something. My heals became fully slotted, so I ended up slotting Fortitude, the RAs, and Adrenaline boost. Had nothing else to slot. . .

As I grew in levels I found myself being less "useful" to teams, as I wasn't healing as much.

Around that time I came to the forums and figured out just how powerful the buffs are, and how viable a defender that can attack w/o being less of a defender is.

Mind blown! Whole gameplay style changed.
  17. Iirc, due to timing, short duration, server lag, blah blah, it's better to have the next attack queued while Eagle's Claw is animating.

The effect is much easier to appreciate with Dragon Tail.
  18. From the OP I gathered this thread is supposed to as pointless as a "Raphael vs Wolverine" thread and should be considered as such. Any argument about the implausibility / impossibility of ever having a ninja turtle fight a mutant in one comic it out of its scope.

And I treated it as such.

If a Dev would have come and said "hey guys we're thinking of going F2P, what do you guys think about it?", I would have been with you all holding pitchforks and nerdraging.

    Got it.

EDIT: Before people go all "Rawr Rawr Rawr" I would like to add that I believe making CoH F2P would be a very bad idea and our current system is so complex that making a viable and profitable F2P system is most likely not worth all the programming, concept design time, expenses, and so on. I don't think it will work here.

However, f2p has worked for some, been disasters to others, and I have no problem with "what ifs."
  20. One model I saw that liked was tiered.

F2P can play content till level 15. After that, each tier of levels has its own associated costs. F2P can team with others who have these missions, but will not get the mission complete xp bonus unless they have them unlocked/purchased. So F2P can reach level 50, but it will be harder to accomplish and have very little to do themselves.

    *15-30 contacts
    *30-40 contacts
    *40-50 contacts
    *Incarnate
*Radio/Newspaper also for sale in level tiers
    *Tip missions as well
*Access to TF individually for sale
*Limited market slots (can buy more)
*Limited costume slots (can buy more)
*Limited character slots (can buy more)
*Low influence cap, you can buy bigger wallets.
*Add the stuff American Knight said.

Basically the player could pay for what he feels like playing. A MMO that followed a similar model got some cash from me it would not have gotten otherwise. It was entertaining and I wanted to play it, but not enough to give it $15 a month. I was not going to play enough to justify that expense.

However, knowing that $40 bought me enough to keep me busy for 5 or more months, despite all the in-game limitations I had, kept me happy.

Not saying I like the idea of a F2P CoH. But this micro-transaction/nickle-n-diming could work for some people.
  21. Um... wasn't the point of this thread NOT to debate the topic of F2P, but play around on how it could be done?
  22. I may or may not use the parts, but I'm buying solely to reward the making of that trailer.
  23. Torn about this. The guy has talent, but I really hope he goes with the spirit of the Flintstones rather than Family Guy in stone age.
