This post is still going? Can we just drop this and act a little more mature about the topic? I dont know if its just me but seeing both sides of this I feel like everyone is blowing this out of hand. Some things were said. A mod took an action they believed was needed. We all can argue back and forth over what was the right actions to take or if the comment was offencive or not. In the end where are we left? just spitting venom at eachother which gets us nowhere. Lets move past this, try to act a little more mature, and just have fun playing a game. -

CoH costume java applets and apple applets or make the website more mobile friendly and offer access VIA internet to the costume creator. (People love using the costume creator. IMPROVE IT. update it. Make it free and allow anyone to use it outside the game on their iphones, androids, etc.) Allow people who are not subscribers access to the costume creator as well (This is a HUGE consumer draw.)
Posters for comic shops. MORE interviews and information leaks with gaming magazines.
bumper stickers, T-shirts, comics, merchandise. Seriously, your customers are your best marketing resource, Exploit Us.
Show more interest in the community and promote community events and activities. (I guarantee those artists and video makers would LOVE you promoting their stuff. or featuring their work on the front page or in interviews. A going rogue video contest would be nice.) -

I have some ideas, but I'd rather hear yours.
I will say that give them lots of money is not a viable option.
I'm not a marketing expert but I've always felt that the role of marketing was to keep the community excited and informed about the game and to kindle interest and inform those that aren't CoH gamers.
how you go about achieving the above is your line of expertise. I'm no marketing expert.
P.s. I know for sure the last thing I want to read about the marketing personel is a lack of self-esteem. Confidence, pride and excitement is a huge selling point. Humility has a tendency to make people look weak. -

Status Update on PvP IO drops:
Last night i spent 2 hours farming pinatas in Virtue RV. I recieved two PvP IOs from 45 kills(Javeline and a Gladiator Armor resist). I also recieved a purple coercive persuasion from farming LB.
I am hoping to reproduce these results tonight. I will be posting my results regardless.
I am bad. I have downs. I fail at PvP. If I can farm 1 pvp IO a night, anyone can.
d;D -
I am most likely the worst PvPer on Virtue and quite possibly the entire game, I would not even take my own advice.
However, I figured to get your gears moving I'd post my own emp build that you should not try to emulate due to its sheer level of fail.
Hope it helps:

Quote:If I were to look at the Devs farming "fixes" from a Devs standpoint; I would first have to ask someone to smash a brick over my head repeatedly until I had suffered enough brain damage...Not survive, you are looking at it in the wrong way. Look at it from a dev standpoint.
It has been postulated by others that one of the main reasons for this change was because you could earn double rewards from self rezzing enemies with out double the effort. Some of things you could do with regard to AE farming highlighted this.
.
I rather look at the fixes from a farmers perspective. -
Quote:It can be proven. It can be proven by providing evidence of this knowledge and having a redname validate said evidence.I have to assume from your post that ArcanaVille is a friend of yours since you are defending her and personally I like her arguements myself.
I do have one problem with her though. Her claims to special knowledge of the game is kinda like my own political party members (democrats) crying racist anytime someone disagrees with Obama. It can't be proven, BUT still stops all legitimate arguement on the subject.
however Until this "special knowledge" that the individual claims they have can be proven and validated by a red-name I rather the individual shut-up...
In Arcana's defenser, much of what Arcana has said HAS been validated by a red-name in the past. -
Quote:Keep in mind those last 5 purchases could have been created by a marketteer that is attempting to manipulate that items pricing.Currently, I have 2 crafted IOs, around lvl 25, both somewhat desirable recipes (Miracle Heal/End/Rech and a PBAoE Acc/Dam, I think) that I put up on sale redside for a reasonable price (under the last 5). They haven't moved in over a month. That would happen w/a sleep or snipe IO or recipe blue-side, but not w/IOs like that, I don't think. I'm hanging on to some mildly useful recipes, also in the low 20s that I'd like to sell for small amounts (well below 1M) to ppl who can use them, but not at the expense of tying up a slot for a month (hardly "reasonable" by anyone's standards, I think), so they'll likely get vendored/trashed. Seems a shame, but considering I can turn a minimum of a few hundred K per slot per day (and that's w/o even trying, really), there's no way I'm going to waste a slot on slow moving item (which, I'm not even trying to make money on, but figured someone could use them).
So "reasonable" pricing based off the last 5 bids for that item may not be "reasonable" to any of the real bidders.
I'd actually like to see global names attached to bids and selling goods so that we can better track and avoid unscrupulous marketing practices. But then, where's the fun in that? :P -
Quote:I was of the opinion we were discussing resurrecting enemies being untargetable...If you read what I said to completion you would not have responded in this manner. Assuming of course you had any idea what is being talked about.
thx bai!
The only reason for this change I can think of is to deter its use in exploitative farming. However, as explained before the change does little to deter farmers.
The idea that this change was made to give resurrected NPC, PC targets a greater chance to survive is..well, absurd. -

Quote:Depends on what you will be using the MM for. Poison lacks quite a bit in AoE debuffs and AoE control.Demons debuff.. poison debuffs.. attacks from demon set debuff.. demon also has a build-up like power for your pet (living hellfire).
Win?
For PvP it will be an excellent combo in 1v1 matches against a melee AT or Ranged blaster.
I'll most likely be taking a secondary few will be taking, TA; for its functionality in team PvE, Team PvE as well as PvP. -
Quote:You seem to be making rather naive assumptions based on your lack of comprehension. When you tell the mastermind that they can't use their entire source of damage, that is rude. It also precludes some very nice debuffs. You forget, not every pet is designed to stay at range. And even with good mastermind controls, it is pretty much impossible to prevent pets from at least half the primaries from meleeing. Nor would you want to.
If your so worried about pets fueling Romulus's healing, aren't you equally worried that the scrappers and other melee ATs are fueling it? Or, you could do what my ITF team did. You could take out the nictus that are healing Romulus first, and prevent it from happening.
Primaries which either can't easily, or shouldn't be kept at range:
Ninja
Necro
Demons
Thugs (arsonist keeps brawling no matter what, and bruiser is a melee pet to begin with)
So your telling me that you'd never bring a mastermind along because your afraid of a preventable situation. If the nictus AVs keep healing Romulus using pets or team mates, kill the nictus AVs.
Is that so hard? Or do you think the Statesman TF is impossible without a perfect team lineup because you never thought to remove the towers buffing Recluse? It's still hard, but not impossible if you do things right.
So i'll end this discussion with this post. -
Quote:Pretty much this. Nothing worse than the therm shielding all of his pets but no one else on team gets em.
And it happens so frequently to the point where I've stopped accepting invites from MMs unless I personally know the player to be competent or a friend knows the MM is a competent team member.
Oh, I forgot one other thing:
The AFK MMer. The MM player that puts their pets in defensive and places a team member on follow. -
Quote:While most of your reasons can be understandable, this one struck me as rude....
I stopped reading at this.
MM pets still fuel romulus's healing nictus and regeneration. It is not rude to ask a MM to keep their pets at a range distance if you know your PUG team is having trouble pushing past Rom's regen and healing; it's practical.
Now I know many peoples response to this would be 'well then don't play on a pug team." My answer to this is; "shutup." -
I tend to get atleast 1 PvP IO drop daily from farming pinatas for 1 to 2 hours during peak hours in Virtue servers RV. I have never recieved a pvP IO from arena matches 1v1, 6v6 or 8v8.
-
If myself and a few others are correct and the Devs are experimenting with Cross-server instancing; this would be a tremendous boon to the entire game, especially redside market woes.
I've made a few suggestions for functional money sinks (something we gravely need in this game) The problem with implementing a money sink that works is that it must be something everyone WANTs to use, it can't simply be an optional QoL addition to the game.
Meaning any money sink that WORKs will most likely be disliked. -
you all are way too bored. Come to Virtue RV. I need more pinatas.
-
I've been suggesting cross-server instancing for some time now and many others. Hopefully this is something they are implementing in the near future.

Quote:Pets never targeted dead targets so technicly they have always been affected by this untargetable rule.Pets being effected by untargetable rules like players would be a fix not a nerf.
Placing pets in aggressive mode causes pets to target alive targets. so once the player or NPC is capable of being targeted (if pets are set to aggressive) the pets will attack.
Unless this is "fixed" (which I doubt it will be.) Farmers will still be able to afk farm PvP IOs with MM pets. There are a few other ways around this "fix" that I can think of for afk farmers.
as Mac has stated and other semi-intelligent forumites have stated; these "nerfs" or "fixes" whatever you call them; do little to deter or punish exploiters and farmers because exploiters and farmers tend to be intelligent.
