PvP Drops
Yes, they have the chance to drop from any Player that you defeat, either in zone or in arena, so long as the players are within 3 levels of each other AND you did (or could have) earned PvP reputation from the kill (meaning that you can't kill the same target within 5 minutes).
The drop rate is unknown. It is presumed to be the same for arena and zone and estimated to be 1 in 2000 to 3000 or so kills.

Another thing to note is that the devs deny the above information. They claim the drop rate is many times better. They've even gone as far as flat out calling players in the community liars after test results were presented. The dev information has been conclusively proven to be false (in the PvP league that's going on, there were like 2 drops for many hundreds of kills, before people just stopped counting), but they are ignoring all questions regarding it.

Funny thing: went from zero to 115 rep on a team of two with my Stalker in Virtue RV last night (yay, SOs + stealth IO + no Stamina) and got a Glad Strike piece off a kill. Switched to Freedom RV (also on a Stalker) and got a purple off a random mob kill. I seem to be breaking the RNG lately

I think I put in the drop rate for purples from TopDoc's research. My bad.

The within 3 lvl's is only for arena not for zones presumably due to the auto explr of the zones.

Op, pvp io's drop in pvp instances ONLY. In essence, you have a chance for a drop off any opponent that gives your character reputation(rep).A player can enter any zone and get rep from defeating an opponent.Upon defeat there is a ******* infintesimal chance for a pvp io drop.
Arena was never intended to award rep. They added something to insure drops in arena matches. Rep? Whatever.........in the whole of a Leagues worth of play I think there have been a total of 2 drops across all matches and practices in arena.
If you want pvp io recipes your best bet is playing zone.
Please correct me if I pulled a Dahjee and gave a novice player bad advice.

1 team mate = 50% chance of you getting the drop
2 team mates = 33% chance of you getting the drop
3 team mates = 25% chance of you getting the drop
5 team mates = 20% chance of you getting the drop

7 team mates = 12.5% chance of you getting the drop
I'd say the drop rate is closer to between 1/150 & 1/350 rep worthy kills.

how often is it you have people in the pvp zones whose actual level differences are greater than 3 lvls?
How often are you teamed?
How often do you end up defeating someone before you can claim rep on them? This part I'm actually fine with
Also factor in there is no streek breaker in drops
personally I'd just have you getting a PvP merit when you collect rep( regardless if your on a team or not), and have PvP recipes cost like 50 PvP merits or so.
the +3 lvl's rule is only in the Arena I belive. When you are in a zone like Warbug you are exemplared to the same level as everyone else, so every kill is a rep kill.

That is completely erroneous. I've gotten numerous PVP IO drops from killing a certain level 41 regen over and over and over and over and over and over³³³³. Character that is killing it is level 50.

Also, I seem to be in the 70 - 100 valid rep kill drop range so every 5.5 hours or so. depending on how the rdg is feeling. Keep in mind, not every drop is a proc...

To be more specific though:
There are 2 timers attached to PvP IO drops a 5 min reputation timer for the player and a 10 min drop timer.
You can get these drops in both the arena and in PvP zones.
In the arena your opponent must be within 3 levels of you thus "rep" eligible though the arena system does not reward rep.
In the zones you are auto lvl'd to the zone max so the "within 3 levels" does not apply here. The rep timer for zones has been changed in 2 important ways: 1.) it is now 5 min instead of 10min , and 2.)The timer is not restarted if you kill the same opponent before your rep timer is up. Eg you kill player A you receive rep, and get a chance for an io drop, and 5 min timer starts, 2 min later you kill player A again you receive no rep thus no chance for drop, and timer continues on, 5 min pass from your first kill you kill player A yet again you receive rep, you get a chance for a drop, and timer starts at 5 min again.
Once you receive a drop the 10 min drop timer starts if you kill a player within that 10 min you will not get a chance for drop regardless of rep eligible.
Hope that clarifies something that i was never trying to say in the first place. Originally all I was clarifying was that the "within 3 lvl's" did not apply to zones which was too hard a concept for some to grasp.

Yeah i get dropped one once in half year and i rarely team...also 3 days farming gave me one drop..oh my?
I tend to get atleast 1 PvP IO drop daily from farming pinatas for 1 to 2 hours during peak hours in Virtue servers RV. I have never recieved a pvP IO from arena matches 1v1, 6v6 or 8v8.
Status Update on PvP IO drops:
Last night i spent 2 hours farming pinatas in Virtue RV. I recieved two PvP IOs from 45 kills(Javeline and a Gladiator Armor resist). I also recieved a purple coercive persuasion from farming LB.
I am hoping to reproduce these results tonight. I will be posting my results regardless.
I am bad. I have downs. I fail at PvP. If I can farm 1 pvp IO a night, anyone can.

Ok, I've never been one to PvP. I only just found out that PvP IOs drop from PvP?! (My bad, don't hate). Anyways, I was wondering about whether IOs drop in arena as well as zone PvP? And if so, how different is the rate? Sorry for the stupid questions but I need to know :S
