That shouldn't effect VEATS tho as they don't use shields

True! I didn't think of that -

Cant say i've ever had a real problem with consume though if there was going to be changes made to is i much prefer the idea put forward by Stupid_Fanboy and then refined slightly by BillZBubba on the US boards.

completely rework consume as a pbaoe end draining slow and/or immobilize attack.
It works thematically, it would increase mitigation and it would allow us to utilize burn more effectively.
Through concentration, the Fiery Aura reaches out and leeches heat energy from all surrounding enemies. The heat is returned to you as endurance while leaving your enemies shivering and slowed if not immobilized due to shock.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
I like that as well - it really fits. Although I dont seem to have many endurance problems on my Fire/Fire tank, but consume definitely makes things go faster. Plus I have sloted the 10% chance to stun IO which makes it useful -

Given its technically a whole different set, and the animations are already there (as shown by the NPCS that use them) is it that hard?
Asking..

Could be to do with the shield power set coming out. Anything that is two handed is compatible with it -
Thinking about it you could always replace the smashing damage element of the early powers with energy just to make it a bit more different from gravity
-
I really like the idea of this set, yet I agree with some peoples comments that it needs work. Ive had a go at recreating the set using some of your ideas and looking at other controller sets. It is influenced by Gravity in a few ways yet Ive tried to add in some unique powers. I think it may need some balancing and a couple of powers I dont think are traditionally controller but what do you think?
1. Slow Time
Ranged, Minor DoT (Smashing), Foe Immobilise, -recharge
You slow time around a single foe. Weaker foes will be completely immobilized and there recharge slowed. Stronger foes may not be immobilized but will still have there movement and recharge slowed. The stress of this on the target causes minor damage over time.
2. Stop Time
Ranged, Minor DoT (Smashing), Foe Hold
You stop time around a single foe! Weaker foes will be completely held. Stronger foes may not be immobilized but will still have there movement speed slowed. Because of the ripples in time caused by this foes around the affected target will have there movement speed slowed. The stress of this on the target causes minor damage over time.
3. Time Blast
Ranged, Moderate Damage (Smashing), Foe Knockback
You manipulate waves of energy to send a powerful blast at your foe. The impact of this may be enough to send them flying!
4. Out of Time
Targeted AoE, Foe Disorientate
You open a flash in time at a targeted location, briefly overlapping two time zones. This is a very shocking experience and any foes caught in its effect will become disorientated.
5. Time Shift
PBAoE, Team +Defence, +Resistance (all but psychic), -Movement
You shift yourself and those around slightly out of phase with this time stream. This makes you harder to hit and slightly resistant to all damage except psychic. However, because you are trying to move through two time streams at once those affected have there movement speed reduced.
6. Mass Stop Time
Targeted AoE, Minor DoT (Smashing), Foe Hold
You stop time around a group of foes! Weaker foes will be completely held. Stronger foes may not be immobilized but will still have there movement speed slowed. The stress of this on the target causes minor damage over time.
7. Future Sight
PBAoE, Team +Accuracy, +Defence
You are able to control time so that you and those close to you can see a few seconds into the future for a limited period of time. Those affected get a bonus to their accuracy and defence because they can predict the enemies movement. However, once the effect wears off you are left tired and lose endurance (this only affects the user and not any teams mates that were affected).
8. Time Fissure
Targeted AoE, Foe Slow, -recharge, Fear or Confusion
You open up a fissure in time at a targeted location. Any foes in its area of effect or who pass through its area effect are affected. All foes are slowed by the powerful time waves emitting from it. However, because of the ever changing nature of the fissure foes are constantly being exposed to different time lines. This will either cause fear or confusion in them.
9. Big Bang
Targeted AoE, Summon Big Bang: Ranged, High Damage (Fire, Energy, Smashing), Taunt, Foe Stun, Knockback
You open up a hole in time to the Big Bang itself! Energy from the big bang is constantly escaping the hole hitting foes. The power of these attacks are strong enough to stun foes and send them flying.
Although the hole is only open for a short while it is immobile. It can also be targeted by foes who will do there best to destroy it in an attempt to protect themselves. The Big Bang has some resistance to Smashing and Lethal Damage and is unaffected by status effects. -

It's more than possible that I've completely made this up, or got the wrong end of the stick from somewhere, but what did you expect from me?
Isn't the reason we can't alter heights to do with power scaling or animation speed?
[/ QUOTE ]
I dont know - you could well be right, but you can change your leg length which alters your height (although its only easily noticable when doing it in extremes) -
Hmmmmmm just looking at the accolades again and Fashion Designer and Clubber aren't listed. I wonder if they get put together to form some sort of 'Socialite' accolade!
-
I would just be happy with the Star by the team leader so I dont get tells which I then have to redirect (Im a secretary and have enough of redirecting/taking messages at work!) and for members on a full team either to not appear or be blocked/redded out.
-
Me to! Espcially with day jobs and day job custumes. It would be nice if those heroes who grow in size when super can shrink back down to civvie size

lol, dont know if anyone else remembers the feeling of abject terror in quake 1 DM:4 when those words "QUAD DAMAGE" echoed from your speakers and you realise you were just about to turn the corner to make the leap to the ledge yourself...... I can imagine all the street mobs feelign that way when a quad xp alt logs in....

as an aside, BF 2142 had a similar bonus points for being offline system and it worked great. My three soldiers unlocked weapons pretty much at a uniform rate even though it was my sniper I played more often than not.
riot shield , check
police uniform , check
baton power ? woot! check
now all I need are some hippies and a large supply of tear gas.....

The tear gas is another accolade - hehe
As for the hippies - Im sure the carnies are colourful enough to count! If not we need ludites on hero side
[ QUOTE ]
In addition to all of the Day Jobs, every character is "On Patrol" after they log out of the game. When players log back into Paragon City or the Rogue Isles they will gain 1 bar of double experience (when defeating enemies) for every 24 hours they are logged out. A player can earn up to 10 bars of double experience this way. Double experience is shown as a blue portion of your experience bar. One thing to note is that if a player has any experience debt, the debt will be removed first before any double experience is applied.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like the idea of the XP for non logged time - my only feeling is that it seems to be a lot in a short period of time. I remember people talking about it before thinking its a good idea as long as it isn't to much. I think if it was 1.5x exp it would be better, but thats just my thoughts.
But can you imagine, you've got a character that hasn't logged in for a while so they get the max available double xp, and they log in during a double xp weekend! It will be XP crazy! -

One option with wormhole is to set up singularity near a corner then wormhole a goup into said corner. If wormhole isn't slotted for accuracy this nicely divides a group up, if it is slotted for accuracy everyone is now where you want them and you and your pet can destroy them at your leisure.
This is all wild speculation cos my toon is level 29 and so has not got to experience the joy of singularity yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure about how this would work as Ive not used Singularity like that. From my experience the Repel aspect of it is quite strong and isn't shy about using it. It was quite funny during a Rikti raid once where I positioned myself inside my singularity and as some of the Rikti ran towards me they automatically bounced away.
I think it could work because the singularity seems to actually hold aggro quite well. I noticed that last night where I was battling rikti again. I was busy dealing with a lt and a couple of drones and the Singularity was easily keeping a few minor minions busy. -

Hey - just sticking my oar in where its not wanted, but if you can possibly make space for it in your build I'd put wormhole in there. Its just plain fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ive definitely considered it - Its one of my considerations for my lvl 49 power!
[/ QUOTE ]
Drop Thunderclap, Wormhole is far, far better imo. For one thing it can stun Lieuts. Plus its a ranged power you can cast out of line of sight (in fact you always should).
Wormhole into a corner > Crushing Field > Hurricane em, nothing is getting out of there. Then you can open up your Freezing Rain > Lightning Storm > Epic AOE Blast (whichever you decide on).
For soloing / small teams Wormhole is one of the best AOE mezzes around as far as I'm concerned. It's a fantastic tactical power and great fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
The more I think about it I think boy_oracle and you are right about wormhole. I like thunderclap but it is very situational where as it sounds like wormhole could fit into an alternative attack chain. -

Thanks for the advice Carnifax! Its really helped
Knowing Psi tornado is a Knockup really helps and has definitely made me lean towards that.
Hadn't given Earth much thought, although it would fit concept wise on the toon. The +Def would be good when stacked with Steamy Mist and Hover and the +HP is a definite plus, espcially if I misjudge distance and get an alpha fire from a mop ive just hit Crushing Field! -
Hiya! Ive been haunting the boards for a while and posted here and there, but this is the first time Ive asked for help on the build on one of my toons so please be kind.
Ive got a Grav/Storm troller who is currently at lvl 39 (nearly 40). I love playing him both in teams and solo but am a little confused as to what epic power set to take when I hit lvl 41.
I haven't got access to the hero designer but these are my current powers:
Gravity - Lift, Gravity Distortion, Propel, Crushing Field, Gravity Distortion Field, Singularity
Storm - Gale, Snow Storm, Steamy Mist, Freezing Rain, Hurricane, Thunder Clap, Lightening Storm
My power pool powers are:
Leadership - Maneuvers, Tactics
Fitness - Swift, Health, Stamina
Flight - Hover, Fly
I currently play him with the idea of being in total control of a situation. I will usually hit with Crushing Field followed up with Freezing Rain - that usually keeps most foes occupied. I will use Thunder Clap, Gravity Distortion Field and Snow Storm to help out this out if needed.
Then if solo I will then pick foes off one at a time with Gravity Distortion, Lift and Propel. If im not solo then I will just concentrate on the crowd control as the others usually will deal with mobs.
Hurricane is there just in case I get overwhelmed and get charged, it is useful to keep the baddies away from me. Singularity helps with this as well, as well as providing additional fire power.
Lightening Storm I am still a little unsure of because the knockback element goes a little against what I am doing, although I do love the power and it can be useful for hte extra damage and if im overwhelmed.
Slots I am still figuring out and need a respec on those.
I am currently considering Primal Forces or Psionic mastery as my epic pool but can't decide. I like primal because of the Power Boost power, yet the mez and psionic resistance granted by Psionic is very tempting as well. Also Psychic Tornado looks fun but don't know exactly how the knockbkack works and whether it will go against how I play.
So any hints, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks very much! -

This happened to me on my Warshade aswell, I was just hoppin round the lobby (as you do, no one was there anyway) and all of a sudden a void appears...thing is I was level 12 and he was 45...bad things ensued.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ouch I bet that hurt!
I reckon its either:
a) a bug
b) the devs being extremely mean
c) a hint that the midnighter club is going be spawning baddies at some point, its just not activated yet. But voids etc randomly spawn with an enemy group when there is a kheld about and they forgot to take this account when having the code in there dormant. -

Because if the timer reset it would:
a) go against the whole point of being a TIMED mission;
b) be open to exploit in more ways then one.
@Rendraka, if you take the time to READ the mission descriptions you'll see they already state you'll be up against a timer.
Leave it as is.
[/ QUOTE ]
Generally on the whole I do, part of why I love CoH is the background/story.
I will admit sometimes I will grab the mission and then read it through later, but sometimes I feel I have read the mission and it hasn't been said 'you have x minutes to do this' and its still been timed. I could be mistaken though.
I guess the only thing I would ask for is the timer to stop (not reset) if you aren't logged in as the toon.
Live in game pauses/resets wont work like you say, but sometimes real life stuff may come up, without warning, that will drag you away from the game for a long period and when you come back the mission has been failed because the timer ran out.
I know that happened to me when I played the Wheel of Destruction arc for the first time and failed the last mission (which was timed) because I was called away because of an emergency. -
I think my copy of Good vs Evil cost me about £10 and I bought it from a shop rather than the PlayNC store. That was about a year ago though
-
I totally agree!
Or at least the timer pauses when your are not logged in as that toon in a similar way to some temp powers. I have particularly bad luck with one toon where I always seem to pick up a timed mission just before I am planning to log out.
And sometimes, it isn't always clear it is a timed mission, so having it say in big red letters that 'This is a timed mission' may help. -

Even I have been strongly considering getting a temp 2nd account to get more inf to help me get there. 2nd account aside how long do people think it would take to earn around 500million inf doing anything that comes up in game...
[/ QUOTE ]
Depends how lucky you are with drops. Iv had 50 million in a nights farming before, iv also had 5 million.
[/ QUOTE ]
I totally agree. Even with general drops etc all my toons have had something rare enough to bag them a couple mill inf to pay for basic IOs and IO sets.
However, one toon, has had terrible luck with drops, only ever getting stuff that sells really cheap and I had to import some inf from another toon just to pay for his basic stuff. -
Leaves me thinking what kind of establishment you would have to log out at to get the Leather Man outfit
-
I thought if you put a Stealth IO into a toggle power that it lasts up to 2mins after the toggle is deactivated, so you dont have to keep on switching it on and off. Thats how it works on my toon anyway and I have it slotted in CJ
So it is virtually permanent anyway, as you would have recovered enough End in two mins to reactive the toggle
Edit - I just reread and realised that I still missed the point if you could slot it in a passive it would be permanent without enduracne cost. -
Im not sure about the Moral Compass idea since reading the interview with Brian Clayton suggests they are at least considering the whole 'switching sides' idea:
[ QUOTE ]
Massively: So one last question for Brian: we know there was a marketing survey that went out to players not too long ago, and there were a number of different questions, but one that we think players really attached to was the idea of players being able to switch sides. We wanted to know if this is something that's been taken up and noticed by the folks at NC Norcal, and whether or not you think that's something from your perspective that you guys might be able to address some time down the line?
Brian Clayton: We're going to be doing more and more in-depth focus groups and research, and things like that, going forward, so eventually I think this is going to become more noise for the community than it is groundbreaking news! But what I can say is that having players go from hero to villain, and villain to hero, would nicely tie together what we've already done to date with City of Heroes and City of Villains. We certainly like the concept and the idea, but we're just not ready to talk about the details yet.
