Some suggestions for my Grav/Storm controller

Hiya! Ive been haunting the boards for a while and posted here and there, but this is the first time Ive asked for help on the build on one of my toons so please be kind.

Ive got a Grav/Storm troller who is currently at lvl 39 (nearly 40). I love playing him both in teams and solo but am a little confused as to what epic power set to take when I hit lvl 41.

I haven't got access to the hero designer but these are my current powers:

Gravity - Lift, Gravity Distortion, Propel, Crushing Field, Gravity Distortion Field, Singularity

Storm - Gale, Snow Storm, Steamy Mist, Freezing Rain, Hurricane, Thunder Clap, Lightening Storm

My power pool powers are:
Leadership - Maneuvers, Tactics
Fitness - Swift, Health, Stamina
Flight - Hover, Fly

I currently play him with the idea of being in total control of a situation. I will usually hit with Crushing Field followed up with Freezing Rain - that usually keeps most foes occupied. I will use Thunder Clap, Gravity Distortion Field and Snow Storm to help out this out if needed.

Then if solo I will then pick foes off one at a time with Gravity Distortion, Lift and Propel. If im not solo then I will just concentrate on the crowd control as the others usually will deal with mobs.

Hurricane is there just in case I get overwhelmed and get charged, it is useful to keep the baddies away from me. Singularity helps with this as well, as well as providing additional fire power.

Lightening Storm I am still a little unsure of because the knockback element goes a little against what I am doing, although I do love the power and it can be useful for hte extra damage and if im overwhelmed.

Slots I am still figuring out and need a respec on those.

I am currently considering Primal Forces or Psionic mastery as my epic pool but can't decide. I like primal because of the Power Boost power, yet the mez and psionic resistance granted by Psionic is very tempting as well. Also Psychic Tornado looks fun but don't know exactly how the knockbkack works and whether it will go against how I play.

So any hints, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks very much!

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

Psy Tornado isn't a pet like Tornado, its actually an AOE blast with a Knockup effect like Lift. In fact its basically an AOE lift with a swirly pink tornado projectile.

So it'd be pretty good for you, if you Crushing Field a bunch and Psy Tornado them you'll do Containment damage and they'll still be knocked up into the sky.

I don't like Power Boost with Storm really, there's not that much to be gained from it. And Power Boosts single target blast is dreadful.

Because of the synergy between Crushing Field, Freezing Rain and Psy Tornado as a one-two-three I'd probably go Psi.

After that I'd probably go with Earth, oddly enough. Fissure is a cool looking attack, again with some knockup and a chance to stun, available from 41. The Armour is defense based which for my money is better on a squishy and you get a Heal / HP boosting power at 47 which you currently don't have (although its slow enough to recharge so its not going to be your perma-healing power).

Thanks for the advice Carnifax! Its really helped

Knowing Psi tornado is a Knockup really helps and has definitely made me lean towards that.

Hadn't given Earth much thought, although it would fit concept wise on the toon. The +Def would be good when stacked with Steamy Mist and Hover and the +HP is a definite plus, espcially if I misjudge distance and get an alpha fire from a mop ive just hit Crushing Field!

Hey - just sticking my oar in where its not wanted, but if you can possibly make space for it in your build I'd put wormhole in there. Its just plain fun.

Drop Thunderclap, Wormhole is far, far better imo. For one thing it can stun Lieuts. Plus its a ranged power you can cast out of line of sight (in fact you always should).

Wormhole into a corner > Crushing Field > Hurricane em, nothing is getting out of there. Then you can open up your Freezing Rain > Lightning Storm > Epic AOE Blast (whichever you decide on).

For soloing / small teams Wormhole is one of the best AOE mezzes around as far as I'm concerned. It's a fantastic tactical power and great fun.

The more I think about it I think boy_oracle and you are right about wormhole. I like thunderclap but it is very situational where as it sounds like wormhole could fit into an alternative attack chain.

One option with wormhole is to set up singularity near a corner then wormhole a goup into said corner. If wormhole isn't slotted for accuracy this nicely divides a group up, if it is slotted for accuracy everyone is now where you want them and you and your pet can destroy them at your leisure.

This is all wild speculation cos my toon is level 29 and so has not got to experience the joy of singularity yet.

Not sure about how this would work as Ive not used Singularity like that. From my experience the Repel aspect of it is quite strong and isn't shy about using it. It was quite funny during a Rikti raid once where I positioned myself inside my singularity and as some of the Rikti ran towards me they automatically bounced away.

I think it could work because the singularity seems to actually hold aggro quite well. I noticed that last night where I was battling rikti again. I was busy dealing with a lt and a couple of drones and the Singularity was easily keeping a few minor minions busy.

What I like to do is leave Singy "on point" at the side of a doorway whilest I wormhole a group into a corner. That way any I miss come running at me, meet Singy on the way and get repelled & attacked whilest I'm doing horrible things, involving high gravity and pointy sticks, to their mates.

Singy is a pretty good tank. He can absorb a lot of damage. On teams though he won't be able to hold the aggro for long if someone else is also attacking his targets, he has poor Taunting abilities.

But standing in him is a great tactic, especially vs things like Warwolves, Crey Power Tanks or Rikti Soldiers and Headsmen (all of whom prefer melee).
