Height Editing
With you on this
Thelonious Monk
Me to! Espcially with day jobs and day job custumes. It would be nice if those heroes who grow in size when super can shrink back down to civvie size
It's more than possible that I've completely made this up, or got the wrong end of the stick from somewhere, but what did you expect from me?
Isn't the reason we can't alter heights to do with power scaling or animation speed?
Yeah, I'd like this.
I know it sounds a tad wrong, but I'd also like to be able to change male/female/large. I play all 3 ( I dont mind playing a girl at all, sometimes it seems to suit) and sometimes pick one and later decide another would have been better.

Unless I'm missing something myself here, what makes you think anything at all's being expected of you personally?

AFAIK it's because height (and basic toon type) is only stored once per toon, rather than per costume. Rather than have an edit change all the costume slots, which would be different behaviour to all the other costume items, they made it uneditable.
Could be changed in principle, but I guess it's been regarded as too much work for too little payoff before now.

I dont know - you could well be right, but you can change your leg length which alters your height (although its only easily noticable when doing it in extremes)
I think this is at least the second time this has been suggested this month. It's probably about the 9 billionth time since the sliders were put in.
We all want it. The fact we don't have it would seem to indicate that there is some specific and fundamental reason why we can't do it. Repeatedly asking for it is not going to change that fundamental.
Nor of course is me posting that again going to stop the next person asking for the same thing in two weeks.

Its possible to get about 6-9" difference in height using the various sliders but it does involve moving all of the ones which affect height from one extreme to the other. You can get some from the facial sliders as well as leg length.
Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr
and lots more on Pinnacle,Union and Defiant
I'm confused dot com.
You can already create a character that's anywhere between 4' and 8' tall... I'd call that editing the height. Is that not what you mean?

that's creating a new char, we're talking about old/existing chars.

Apologies for not being as grey as you Raven
If it DOES mess things up for animations to be per costume, then surely they could let us have an 'overall' hieght editer? I dont know, thats why im suggesting it.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I get the feeling that they would if they could, but they can't. I don't know why not, because it doesn't really make sense to me, but it also seems logical that, if it could be done, it would have been done already, that's all.

Think you're missing something, I'm inferring that when I answer these questions I'm usually a little wide of the mark, or completely and utterly wrong.

And that sounds like what I was aiming for.
My search-fu fails me, but from what I remember the reason one cannot alter character height with the creation-screen slider once the char's finalised is the same kind of reason why digging up and replacing a house's foundations is more difficult than repainting the walls.
When you alter height, you're changing a lot of code that relates to your char. Scalers have to adjust automatically, textures stretch or shrink dramatically and so forth. In short, coding that kind of thing to be a normally alterable effect would take a lot more time than the Dev's have.
it's more an engine thing, it's possible easily but this engine is a bit messed up to make it as easy as it is.
Given we can edit all of the sliders on a character so far...please, why can we not edit the hieght?
For example, a character that is huge in a suit of armour might in fact be tiny without it.
Or, in the case that is really miffing me is my Crab Spider. I built him nearer human size, and THEN realised that, although hes a bit taler than most humans, NPC Crabs are MAHOOSIVE.
Please lord let us edit the hieght.
And, actually, some sort of scale comparison in the Chari creator would be nice. Cos even civilian NPCs are topping 6' something.
