  1. My fire/rad is now at level 28. Unfortunately 7 pm central is a little too early for me to get home from work and jump in. Maybe we can set something up this weekend.

As this is my first fire/rad troller I'd like to get some input as to what powers to take or to stay away from. I plan on initially stopping at level 33. Imps is a given, but what about choking cloud? And some slotting advice, with basic IO's for now would be great.

If you didn't have enough candy canes and you have the option checked to show only what you have enough needed to craft it then that may be why you missed it.

    Virtue Down?

You know what this means now? All you people who broke it? We'll get two more weeks of the winter event.

Not sure which L. A. you are referring to but MY L. A. only sees a dusting of ash from the brush fires, and THAT's a whole other GM .
  6. I agree with most of the above. It is hard to convince people to commit to a group that has just started and has no characters or very little prestige. I would try asking globals to see if they could commit a character to help you start out, and fill it with your own alts that are frequently logged in and have earned prestige.

Another thing that can help is if you have a theme that might attrack a type of player. For a mafia group, you might request that they have a costume dedicated to a mafia theme, or power types. Or role-play it when you have SG functions. And advertise that in the forum channel dedicated to the server you are on. Or broadcast it in Atlas/Mercy.

The original version of your main villain? Was he a hero? Villains has only been out for 4 years, or a bit over 1500 days.

    Candy Canes

I tend to frequent the low population servers and for the first time played on Freedom last night. Madness! There were tons of people farming the Lord of Winter. If I were smart I'd create a character just to run that, repeatedly, and then take advantage of the free server transfers and send the candy canes where they were needed. if I were smart . . .

I had read the other thread and was really interested in joining, and without even reading the suggested powers/ATs, I had made a fire/rad. I'll take that as a positive sign.
  10. When I first played the game I was terrified of acquiring debt. I didn't want it to slow me down, so death was not an option (until I hit 50, then it didn't matter and I needed the badge work). But after so many years of playing you kinda become immune to it. Espeically with so many changes to the debt system and XP system. Back in the day many PUGs I was involved with were very insistent on strategy, following as the leader dictated. Or you'd be kicked. But again times have changed.

It's my experience that after enough team wipes either people will wise up and accept a plan or give up and be on their way. And those are the ones you don't want to play with anyway.

I think these days strategy really comes into play with some of the tougher Arch Villains or certain mob types. But those aren't as common. I'm usually fine with any method of play. Team wipes can be fun(ny). And when a plan comes together in a tougher situation (Lord of Winter with only two teams), that can be equally as satisfying.
  11. Could you imagine if a beginning player was not aware of this feature, and spent a lot of time working to level 50, maybe in a hurry to unlock an Epic, with every intention of going back to do some of the content missed, to acquire more badges, to run TF's they've yet to experience, and so on, only to hit the magical number 50 and discover his character inaccessible? Now THAT's post-50 let-down.
  12. Hey Amanita, is it possible the character did transfer to the destination server? Maybe you have to scroll through the 36 possible slots? I've had characters "disappear" before and had to dig deeper.
  13. I use the vault for all my characters, to store rare salvage or some extra pricey pieces - alchemical silvers, etc.

My main farmer/badger redside will use the zone vaults while crafting on the fly. Saves time from having to zone, twice. I'll grab what I need, pop up the crafting table and create the enhancement.
  14. For my badgers - the hope to add to the collection.

For my brute - he is a former side kick fallen from grace and has been searching for a way to prove himself. This has been part of his bio for four years now and GR will be a perfect way to flesh that out.
  15. I think the ones that require teams. like TF's, I'll go for first as the servers I frequent tend to be low pop and I think there will be a lot of people scrambling for the badges initially. The rest I'll get them as I can.

I think it really depends on what mobs you want to fight. I have two farm-worthy brutes, but some mobs (Carnies) are harder to deal with than others (Freakshow). My Dom is only level 37, but not too sure how good a farmer he will be. It really depends on your play style.

    Worst Mobs Ever.

Sappers - whenever I fight Malta, like Comm Officers for Rikti, I look for them first. But there are many times when I miss one. I'm taking out the entire mob with ease, not noticing my endurance quickly dwindle. Toggles fall, shields fall, and I'm dead.

Sorcerers - hate them. Hate when they port out - hate when they heal.

PPD Equalizers - hate when they slow me down, especially on a squishy that has just had a Longbow ambush pop up and then I'm surrounded, and dead.
  18. Coming from the perspective of a non-hardcore farmer and non-hardcore marketer (I casually do both) I thought I would add my 2 inf.

The bulk of my inf comes from mostly what drops I find - whether it be in missions, or merit/ticket acquired recipes and salvage. Of course not everything will bring in the big bucks. But part of the fun for me is learning what sells and what doesn't. And even when I think I've figured out what the market is demanding, I'll always be surprised, whether I thought it wouldn't be worth anything and yet there is high demand, or when I think it will make a pretty penny, it turns out to be "worthless". But that's part of the fun for me, too.

Though the lower level characters are probably not going to bringing in the inf as quickly as the level 50's, I rarely PL my characters so most of what is acquired is acquired through the journey. I have a level 22 who has earned about 90 million, primarily from sales of various drops (definitely the exception, but it can happen). As I rarely slot any IO's until characters are closer to 50, I'm able to save up all the reward merits and either out right purchase what I might want or have them used in random rolls. Most of it is all luck, but it really only takes a couple good hits to build up your bank.

If I'm starting out on a server with no banked inf, I'll play the market buying and selling salvage. I don't truly flip salvage. I just have a set buy price, and a set sell price. I have a couple salvage that I always use and again it just takes a bit of studying to learn what works. For the level 22 character I referred to earlier, in order to start listing items and have the inf to cover the market fees I traded salvage and in a week I had almost 20 million (I normally wouldn't trade in for that much but when you're on a roll it's hard to stop!). Once I had some funds to play with I was able to start listing some acquired items. Of course there is no guarantee that this will work all the time

Another area I enjoy is AE tickets. This is where my farming comes in. I'll run some missions to save up the tickets and then go for the bronze rolls. I usually do this on my level 50's but I have some lower level characters that were able to pick up some nice recipes, too. Again there is a lot of luck involved but it just takes a couple good ones!

Hope I was able to add to this thread and wish you luck on your quest!
  19. Sorry - UP TO 20 each, as that is the max of each you can carry. There are many that I couldn't quite get 20 of
  20. I love love the Halloween event. It is my favorite in-game event. But three weeks was too long. I spent the first two weeks cramming in as much of it as I could, and then spent the last week mostly doing normal mishes. The biggest pain for me was when I needed to street sweep in a certain zone and an event was happening and there were no normal spawns. I'd have joined in the event, just to pass the time, but by week three, not too many people were participating.

I agree on the door zombie spawns. For all my characters that were new to the event it was the last badge to earn. And after so much trick or treating I'd click on the door, look for any zombies and leave the rest behind.

I really liked the supernatural events. At first it was a pain because everyone was doing it so I had to run several of them on the same character to get all the badges. And being on the lighter populated servers I had to pretty much wait until the weekend to accomplish anything, especially red-side. But it was great to see the various teams form up and everyone pretty much cooperating.
  21. I saved up to 20 of each type on both red and blue side. If possible, with side-switching, I'll be posting some of the "villain only" or "hero only" on the markets.

I think villains or heroes changing sides, and bringing all their salvage, inspies, enhancements and inf would have more impact on the game economies than would the ability to trade inspies.
  23. Nice work and nice story!

My very first character, over 4 years now, is approaching 49. I have been close to deleting him more than once. But he's a part of my history with COH. He's been transferred to a different server and respec'd a few times. Clearly I'm not in any hurry, but it should be soon.
  24. Of course this is really late in replying but I've had the issue, too. If I can't see it in my badge list I'll do something to earn prestige and then it will show up. Don't know how long it stays visible. Shy little bugger.
  25. And you can see Sister Psyche on the left.
