Going Rogue: COX badges first or Praetorian badges?

So when Going Rogue goes live, will you guys be going after villain badges on your hero, (or vice versa), or will you be working on getting the Praetorian badges first?

As for me, if possible, I will try to get the COV badges on my hero first.

Can I answer yes to both?

It takes time to "go rogue", though.

I think I'll start with getting all my Praetorian badges first.

I don't really have any characters that would change sides.

Whatever I feel like doing. One day I might work on GR badges, the next might be Hero badges. If I don't see a 1,000 badges badge, then I will wonder if something is wrong. I wonder what the benefits are for staying loyal. I would laugh if you get a badge with the badge description "I decided to stay a <insert faction>, and all I got was this lousy badge."

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

I don't remember seeing any confirmation from an official source that we CAN get badges from both sides (or keep the ones that we have if we switch).

I think I recall somewhere that Accolade badges that grant powers will "morph" into their heroic named versions if a villain becomes a hero and vice versa. As to all the other badges, I have no idea if there is any badge loss but I hope not.

Better yet: Here's a question about the Master Badges:

1. Master ITF: a villain has it, can they get a duplicate one if they win as a hero?

2. Master Khan/Master Barracuda: can a hero turn evil and get the Master Barracuda and still retain their Master Badge from the blueside version?

3. Master RSF/Master STF: can a character have both?

Right, they said you'll only be able to have one set of accolades.

As for as the Master badges go... STF and LRSF are completely separate TFs, so I would imagine you could get both. The ITF is the same TF for both sides. There is no Hero or Villain version. There would be no "both". Khan and Barracuda are separate TFs, but they made the mistake of naming the badges the same thing, so it's unlikely there would be 2 versions.. but that's a good question. The TFs are kinda similar, so they might leave it alone, or simply change the badge names to reflect the contact's name, just like the other signature TF badges.

Witch hat for my villains and whatever badges I get along the way.

Really it depends on the badge title tor the Preatorians.

They already said that switching sides would convert badges notably the accolades. Someone find the post, it may have only said accolades but I want to say that it was all badges. Or it may have been in that hero con video and not a post on the forums.

In the HeroCon video, and on forums, (and players already know) that badges have both a Hero and Villain name for them.. which will change when you switch sides.

The video also said that will only be able to have 1 set of accolades... but did not specify whether or not it meant the power itself would change when we did, or if the badges required toward the accolades is dependent upon your original or current side.. or if you can earn both accolade badges but only be given the power from the first one.. or how else it might work.

The main concern I suspect many badgers, including myself, have is the potential for badge LOSS upon switching. If a villain turns hero or at least goes rogue and gains access to the blueside, should that mean an automatic removal of badges such as:

Exploration
History
Accomplishment
Defeats
etc.

I would like to think that badge LOSS wouldn't occur, but stranger things have happened.

Nah, it would make sense to have both sets of accolades and badges, but...

if you get the actual accolade badge, you should just get the accolade badge and not the accolade power itself.

I just want the badges, I could care less about extra powers.

List of possible problem badges:

Isolator. Villains were specifically blocked from getting this badge according to Positron. This was designed for the RV contaminated.

Multidimensional. Villains were able to get it for a month, and then it was stripped from them 1 month after issue 7 launch.

Fire Thorn Caster gladiator. Stripped from villain characters during the Issue 7 patch.

Button Man Gunner gladiator. Stripped from villain characters during the Issue 7 patch.

Nebula Buckshot gladiator. Stripped from villain characters during the Issue 7 patch.

Villain Disruptor. I believe this was blocked on villains.

Hero Slayer. I believe this was blocked on heroes.

These badges have anti-side code on them. If you are on the wrong side, the game removed the badges from your character after getting them.

More than likely they are still there.. maybe even still tracked.. but probably just hidden.. so maybe they can remove the block and people will suddenly get a few of them on the day of release, and we'll keep them when we switch sides.

*crosses fingers.

Yuck. Not needed in the least. Besides I think at last look Positron had 890 badges for both sides and including some badges that are not available to players at all.

I have to agree with this. There are more then enough badges for both sides already, not counting Vet and Dayjobs. Praetorian badges I can understand as that is a whole new realm opening up for us, but adding new Blue and Redside ones just isn't needed.

It will be interesting how they will handle toons that switch...
not sure if I like the fact you are sort of forced to change sides if you are a badge hunter... I would say if you do switch and become a hero from a villain or visa-versa then you should only have access those said badges guess we will see

Well.. if you don't fully switch, then you'll have access to both sides.. which is probably what most people are going to do so as new stuff is released, they can access it and get the badge.

The only exception is if there are specific badges for completely switching, or staying completely switched, or what those rewards will be.. then maybe we'll fully switch, and then switch halfway back to have access to both sides again. lol

On a side note.. I just thought of this...
What would happen if somebody who has access to both sides enters a PvP zone?

I'd imagine that the only zone they could enter would be Warburg as that is the free fire zone where factions mean nothing.

Otherwise I would suspect that for any PvP zone, if your character's "alignment" was neutral thus having access to both sides, it would default you to the appropriate side depending on your archetype.

Hi Guys,

I think that all this is, even at this early stage, starting to sound very messy!

Cheers

Which would suck if you were a Villain on a team of Hero friends wanting to go PvP.. cause you wouldn't be on the right side...

Actually I think I just solved it in my head...
They could easily(?) just decide which side you are on depending on which side you entered the zone from.

For example:
If you enter RV from Atlas, you'd be put on the Hero's side, but if you enter RV from Grandville, you'd be a Villain, regardless of your AT or current alignment status.

That could work.

I'm pretty sure (not 100% positive) this was answered... somewhere. My search-fu is weak, perhaps someone else can find conclusive proof.

Vigilantes are considered Heroes and Rogues are considered Villains for the purpose of PvP. Otherwise it would be mass chaos.

Which I suppose some folks might like.

It's my understanding that Vigilantes are still considered Heroes and Rogues are still considered Villains. Even though they are both free to visit the zones of both sides, Vigilantes are still restricted to using Wentworths and Rogues, the Black Market.

I suspect the same will hold true in PvP zones. Vigilantes fight on the side of Heroes and Rogues on the side of Villains.
