  1. My two cents: I'm of the school of thought that things should be earned in-game, but that applies more to single-player games where items have actual effects.

The best comrpomise for this new stuff would probably be, as people have suggested, to make the generic pieces available to everyone, and requiring an unlock on signature pieces.

Even then, not everyone's going to agree.
  2. Er, do you mean to say the fitness +Run/Fly auto-power, called Swift?
  3. Anybody remember the old mention of that Egyptian EAT concept?

What if that happened in Praetoria's history, and Hamidon upset some Egyptian tomb that was never touched on Primal Earth?
  4. Back when mission dropping was weekly, someone asked this; the result was somewhere between several years and several decades. At least, if memory serves.

With dropping every three days, you probably will see a little over than half of that shaved off. But again, it's a long time.

What more could I ask for for less money than L4D2 cost me?
TF2 when it was on sale for about the price of a Booster during December of last year. :P

With Fly and an IO, there is no difference between the two since they both hit the cap.

And while more is 'fun', that's a matter of opinion. For those who think about game balance, the constant call for more and more and more and more, if given into, will break the game and make it unfun for all but a few.
I was taking a guess at the opinions about it. Personally, I am okay with slow fly speed.

Yet at the same time, it feels like they're taking away something, even if it is a bug.

You mean how the bugged 50% increase means no extra slotting and the fixed, nerfed 33% increase means no extra slotting?
More like how the bugged, 50% increase is FUN and the fixed, 30% increase won't be as fun. :P

EDIT: even if we're okay with slow, going faster for free is always fun, after all.

Your later point is sort of moot. We already have boosters that lock out zones and powersets, we call them expansions.
I wouldn't really categorize expansion packs as boosters, per se. It's sort of like referring to a midterm and then calling it a final exam. Sure, they're both tests, but one is larger and has more content.
  9. While I wouldn't say I agree with some of Invisobill's stronger points, such as saying that the game only has about two years left of life, I do agree with him that the booster packs seem to be getting a bit out of hand.

In the overall, I'd say it's not too bad as long as they don't start locking out powersets or zones based on booster packs.

What? We couldn't afford to purchase the letter B?
  11. Techbot Alpha: views: agreeable.
    Support: concurrent; traditionalists superior.
However: full support: you have mine.

    To clarify: Praetorians: not.
None-the-less: epic: in the best sense.
  12. inb4 having to side with Hamidon or Nictus as polar opposites

make the taunt auto-hit in PVE.
The other day, I was tanking on a small team because they lacked a real tanker, and I felt inept because I couldn't reliably taunt things to attack me. I wanted to grab my tanker and show my own character how it's done.

Well, like Tibit Jr. said, Nihilism doesn't quite feel 'comic book-y', and with it being used on the Skulls, they're at least throwaway enemies.
Whoa, wait, what? When did I say that? I didn't even touch the topic of the Skulls, so you might be quoting someone else.

Also, seemingly off-topic: since the 5th Column has been back for a while, can we get a 5th Column logo chest detail to accompany the Council veteran one?

  16. I haven't done the task force(s) involving Riesch.... Rich... Nazi-Statesman, but I don't like the idea that he is now the 5th's leader. It should have always been Requiem, if you ask me.

In my pipe-dream the 5th Column would be all black and red helmeted trenchcoat-wearing nazi bad-***** with flamethrowers, chain guns and bazookas, supported by Vandal's robots and Nosferatu's vampires. Like what they are today but cranked to 11. Oh and they would hate the nictus/Council almost more than they hate minorities of the wrong color and sexual orientation.
Hnnnnnng!! *crosses fingers at this* This is what I always thought the 5th should be!

Where does the fox "outfit" come from?
My guess at some of the pieces used:

    GENERAL
    - pitch-black skin
    HEAD
    - Face: [any], Viper (orange)
    - Hair: [any] (orange, orange)
    - Ears: Wild Cat (orange, white)
    - Detail 2: Breather 2 (white, white)
    TORSO (tights)
    - Chest: tights (orange), no pattern
    - Shoulderpad: spiked collar (white, black)
    - Gloves: monstrous, full, dagger (orange, black)
    LEGS (monstrous)
    - Pants: monstrous large, tights, blend (black, orange)
    - Feet: large claws, bare
    - Tail: animated - wolf tail (orange w/ white tip)

    An Alien Origin

Ah, yes, thank you. That one is pretty popular, too, among tech-origin, so how could I forget it? I added it to the summary.
  19. Quote:
The lower damage powers, no true AoE, lengthy cast time on the 'big' hitter of the set, COMBINED with Ice Patch and the -recharge effect were what caused it. Ice Melee was the problem, not Ice Armor.
You could always replace some of the control powers with a few Dominator Icy Assault powers. They have a point-blank called Ice Sword Circle, and another melee attack called Ice Slash born from Greater Ice Sword.

EDIT: And the cottage rule of avoiding replacing powers only really applies to modifying sets that already exist for that archetype, right? They did it with "BLASTER Psychic Blast," moving powers around to fit the archetype better.

    An Alien Origin

    ((tl;dr pg2))

Summary of my stand: "alien" isn't an origin, it's a backstory. Your power source itself is your origin.

Summary of origins (as per my opinion)...

Natural: everyone of your species can do it, even if it takes training to do so
Mutation: modified before birth (usually unintentional)
Science: modified after birth (usually intentional)
Magic: a diety, magical being, or natural force can be tapped into
Technology: something not a part of your body is providing the powers for you, and isn't magical or you are a construct and your body is made of technology

Sure, there are some grey areas: if someone knows magic that anyone could learn, that may be Natural-Magic; if your power armor has a god trapped inside of it, that could be Techno-Magic; if you were a mutant but had to get special treatment for your powers to get stronger, you are possibly Science-Mutation.

But usually one will supercede the other. I'd say it's just a matter of how far from Natural you are. Eg: if you have the technomagic, technology is more common than magic, so go with that. If you have mutation and science, mutation was closer to your natural state, so Science. Et cetera.

As for Kheldians, I say it's taken from the point-of-view of the alien; not the human, not the new merged-consciousness.
  21. ((Trick Arrow keeps coming up as a possible base for a blaster secondary so that archery blasters have something thematic to match up with. In fact, there was a thread a couple of weeks ago, but it's probably dead by now.))

Anyways, I support a trick arrow-based ("based" - not "port") secondary set for blasters. Good suggestion, Wavicle, with of course the critique that the melee attacks come sooner as already stated.
  22. This is eerie: I opened this thread in a new tab, did exactly as you said, but instead of filing a bug report just started to log out and not deal with it; then I open this tab as it's logging out and read what you say, only to go "OH NO WONDER!"

You just saved me three days of waiting for mission drop!*

And now on-topic: yeah, it should at least mention in the mission briefing to do "take out the leader in the area" or something. It leads you to thinking that it's a ghostable mission.

    Edit: * ... I'm lazy, okay! >_>

    real simple.
Standard code rant applies...? Sometimes coding things isn't as simple as it sounds.

I mean, right on on the suggestion, but we probably won't see it any time soon.

Also, might I tack onto it that if you choose one weapon, you should only get that one weapon. Lord knows people would not only complain about constant redraw ("How come my dual blades take longer to animate after I use my broad sword with my assault rifle and my shield?"), but it would also be a coding nightmare and, all-in-all, pretty silly.
