Suggestion for archers

I've tried running a Defender archer (Trick Arrow & Archery), but it was really weak on offense, as a Defender can be. (Soloing a non-Empathy Defender makes for a challenge.) What about making Trick Arrow a Blaster secondary, so we can run stronger archers? Thanks.

Try a Corruptor. Much, Much more effective in the damage catagory with the same powersets.

Blaster secondaries follow a pattern. They are all (bar devices) melee damage with a few support powers thrown in. Giving Blasters Trick arrow only makes them stronger Corruptors, and that's not fair.

by the way wheres Trickshooter when you need'em?

Whining about everything since 2006.

Ammo switching for Dual Pistols was my idea:

I came up with an appropriately Blastery redesign for Trick Arrow.

It looked something like this:

Entangling Arrow
Flash Arrow
Glue Arrow
Ice Arrow
Build Up
Arrow Stab
Bow Smash
Boost Range
Oil Patch Arrow

Arrow Stab is a fast melee attack, Bow Smash is a slow melee attack. Oil Patch Arrow is Oil Slick Arrow but smaller. Order and details of power strength and recharge, etc, would be negotiable, I'm sure.

...so, a solo Empathy Defender isn't as much of a challenge as it used to be?

Actually that depends a LOT on the primary. Some primaries, Traps, Rad and Dark in particular) solo VERY well. Trick Arrow is somewhat middle of the road. It has high resistance debuffs which help a lot with damage output but it's damage mitigation tools limit it to smaller spawn sizes (baring a very high defense IO build or being paired with a damage mitigation heavy secondary like Dark Blast). Empathy is pretty much at the bottom of the heap in terms of soloing ability since it lacks any form of self damage buffing and in fact only has three powers that can even be used solo.

Not going to happen, Blasters get Manipulation ("Support") sets as secondaries, not Buff/Debuff sets. Like Wavicle said Trick Arrow BASED blaster secondary is not unreasonable.

That looks pretty decent, main changes I'd suggest are:
1. Reorder the powers so that the melee attacks come earlier (probably the T2 and either T3 or T4 powers). In general Blaster secondaries get Melee Damage early and debuff/control later.
2. Build Up doesn't really seem thematically appropriate to me. Personally I'd say leave it out entirely but if you really feel it needs a damage boost how about making a "Follow Up" style power called "Ranging Shot" which doubles as a weak attack and a damage/hit bonus?
3. Boost Range also doesn't really work thematically. I'd suggest a third melee attack (ideally with a control/knockback component) or maybe an AoE Sleep (i.e. Poison Gas Arrow without the -dam but with a shorter recharge).
4. I think Glue Arrow would need a smaller radius.

((Trick Arrow keeps coming up as a possible base for a blaster secondary so that archery blasters have something thematic to match up with. In fact, there was a thread a couple of weeks ago, but it's probably dead by now.))

Anyways, I support a trick arrow-based ("based" - not "port") secondary set for blasters. Good suggestion, Wavicle, with of course the critique that the melee attacks come sooner as already stated.

My TA/Bow Defender feels much more fun than the Archery/TA Corr I rolled a way back. I really dont find TA that bad, myself.

um...yea, whatever, those powers are perfect for such a set.

Hmmm...now I'm getting interested.
